Star Wars DVD Covers

Although, since the final result is usually low-res (300dpi) and compressed with the wrong tool (JPG; covers would be better as PNG), I guess Photoshop will do. Paintshop Pro's just about as good.

Yeah, Photoshop works fine. Besides, the program is only half the process. Most of us wouldn't have access to serious, professional grade printers. Even the best covers are only as good as the printer they are made with.

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
Hey Trooperman, I was thinking about the meadow scene, and how you were going to cut the end off, so Anakin isn't necessarily kidding about the dictatorship. I'm not sure how you were going to have the finished scene, but I'd put the cut ending back into the scene so it would read like this:

ANAKIN: Maybe he was the smart one.
PADMÉ: You really don't like politicians, do you?
ANAKIN: I like two or three, but I'm not really sure about one of them.
PADMÉ stares at ANAKIN. He looks back at her, straight faced, but can't hold back a smile.
PADMÉ: You're making fun of me!
ANAKIN: (sarcastic) Oh no, I'd be much too frightened to tease a Senator. I don't think the system works.
PADMÉ: How would you have it work?
ANAKIN: We need a system where the politicians sit down and discuss the problem, agree what's in the best interests of all the people, and then do it.
PADMÉ: That is exactly what we do. The trouble is that people don't always agree. In fact, they hardly ever do.
ANAKIN: Then they should be made to.
PADMÉ: By whom? Who's going to make them?
ANAKIN: I don't know. Someone.
PADMÉ: You?
ANAKIN: Of course not me.
PADMÉ: But someone.
ANAKIN: Someone wise.
PADMÉ: That sounds an awful lot like a dictatorship to me.
A mischievous little grin creeps across his face.
ANAKIN: Well, if it works...

Just my 2¢

Oh, and since you are doing such cool things to this film, could you put in a 1138 in there somewhere? Somehow it is not a Star Wars film with out it.

The musical aspects of this project are very interesting and I can't wait to see how it turns out. The whole of ending of Attack of the Clones from the droid factory onward was of course practically a last minute addition to the film (while not without it's problems, is a whole lot better than the earlier boring Padme on Trial sequences) and had a serious hack-job for the score. It needs help.

Episode 3: Fan Editing Ideas Discussion
Time
Let's not dismiss the thing too hastily. I think it would work and have a lot more urgency if Anakin and Obi-wan cut through the floor as soon as they are threatened. Take away the jokes and the scene could be fine. As far as Shaak Ti in the hologram, she is barely noticable. I suppose one could paint her out with ease. Of course, you might have to edit a bit in the other introduction of Anakin an Obi-wan to Grevious on the bridge.

I'd love to see this scene re-incorperated into the movie. I have to admit that the motivation isn't anything more than, "Hey, that would be cool to see". Aside from bringing the Grevious threat a bit earlier into the film, this addition doesn't really do anything more than add more action.

***//BUILDING EMPIRE\\: PAL & NTSC DVD - NEW EDITION NOW ONLINE! ***

Not sure about the 8mm, but it was mentioned a few posts up that the ending footage of the medical frigate was different in some releases. I know that the model footage was re-shot by George and ILM at the last minute. It seems some test audiences would have seen this alternate footage, but all the release prints had the new footage. I believe the Definitive Collection photo galleries has this info. I tried to look it up yesterday, but my Dr. Gonzo discs wouldn't play.

And I can send you the Classic Edition ESB, but it could be a week or so.

Star Wars DVD Covers
Time
I got an idea for some covers if anyone is feeling creative and/or talented. I've always been a little dissapointed with the Official covers, especially the classic trilogy. And while I don't mind the character montage concept, I think they could have been done much better. And, it would have been nice if the covers at least had some similarities. So, If anyone is feeling clever, maybe some covers could be made that match. Episode 1 would need to match Episode 4, 2 could match 5 and 3 match 6. A mock up should explain:

Episode 2 Anakin is in the same spot as the Episode 5 Anakin. Yoda is in the same spots, etc. You get it.

Yeah, Lou has a pretty good collection of stuff. Just make damn sure you give him credit if you use something that you get off of his site.

True dat. He deserves it.

Were all the TV trailers on the DVD? Which DVD? I guess all of them... I know some TV trailers (is there a difference between a TV trailer and a commercial) like the Yoda/Spiderman spoof trailer wasn't released on a DVD. Wasn't there also a Star Wars/Godzilla spoof trailer where they say "Plot Matters" (which is certianly debatable here on this site).

The Spidey/Yoda trailer is on the Clones DVD, isn't it?

Oh, yeah. It's right next to those Occupation spots. The Clones DVD has 8 of 'em. Weren't there atleast 15 of 'em.
