The Sith Revealed 2.0 (Released)

*Edit* - I'm also looking for some feedback on the name (gotta have a catchy title yknow). Should I leave it as it is or change it? Other ideas of mine: 'Revealing The Sith', 'Reveal Of The Sith', 'The Sith Revealed' (optional 'The'). I know they're all pretty much the same, but which one rolls off the tongue better?

I'd call it 'The Sith Revealed: Lost Scenes ane Editing Secrets of Revenge of the Sith'. Kind of an homage to my favorite documentary.

By the way, last night I edited together just the Obi-Wan/Vader duel with the "Obi-Wan vs Anakin" track from ROTS, and it's a VERY interesting change. Originally, the duel wasn't even scored. And it provides a whole new level of excitement during that scene. It begins while Han and Chewie are running from the Stormtroopers, "Open the blast door!" and continues on until the Falcon escapes from the docking bay. The best part is this little pause in the music right as Obi-Wan gives that little glance to Luke and Vader cuts him down, then this big choral rendition of the Force Theme as his robe crumples lifelessly onto the deck and luke shouts "No!". I encourage someone to make this a permanent change in an edit of ANH.

Now this is something I'd like to see. Is there any chance for a sneak peak?

Do have any menus on this thing? Animated menus are da best.

If I was you, I'd make a quick opening video clip of footage you are using. Making of, cut scenes, documentary, all of that. Personally, I'd fade the clips in and out from black. Sort how the episode 2 "Breathing" Trailer looked. And wrap it all up with a cool logo for what ever it is you are naming your project.

I really like where all of this is going. If I might suggest:

--------------------------

One of the reasons I liked ROTS was a general lack of 'monologue-ing'. If you've seen The Incredibles, you know what I am talking about. I am excited to see all of the extra dialogue cut out of the fights. Especially the Yoda/Dooku lines.

--------------------------

I'm a little sad to see the shot of Padme shooting at Dooku's ship go as it was a nice parallel to Empire, but sacrifices must be made.

--------------------------

Regarding Watto: I think Anakin should have been a bit more agressive in finding Shmi. I know you are looking at that by having Anakin threaten Watto. My approach would be a little different from what you guys suggest. I'd cut all the chit chat and the bit about Anakin fixing the power droid. It was filmed to convince Watto that it was really Anakin. Who cares. Who would be asking about Shmi anyway? So instead of Anakin threatening to cut Watto's wings off, he uses a Jedi mind trick on Watto and it works. I know that Watto says that mind tricks don't work on Toydarians. This is why I think it would be cool to see here. We all remember the scene from TPM. All of a sudden Anakin does it on Watto! We realise this guy is so strong in the Force that he can influence minds that usually aren't affected by the Jedi mind trick. And it would make a nice payoff for having the Qui-gon/Watto scene in TPM in the first place.

---------------------------

And I like the line ANAKIN (V.O.): "I'm not afraid to die... but I can never lose you again.", but does the line make sense for a wedding? Does being married equate to dying?

I think the story was supposed to be: Anakin grows in power, but emotionally feels drawn back to his mother-- in fact he feels her suffering. But as a Jedi, he's restrained from acting on these feelings and it eats him up worse than any Jedi before because he KNOWS he's right. He gets thrown together with the girl of his dreams and she tips the scales-- he faces too much temptation to remain a chaste Jedi. He reaches out to her and then dashes off to get his mom. But because he is too late, his mother dies in his arms and his Jedi faith is shattered. He resents his master for making mom die-- then he finds out his master is in trouble. He doesn't even want to go save the guy -- but the girl makes him. They end up in a deadly trap, but it's the right thing to do. Then he loses the girl and wants to throw it all away for her-- until he remembers that she wouldn't do that or want that. He stays the course...

It's funny, this actually sounds like a pretty decent story. I gotta say I love the cardboard archetypes line. The mythological aspect of this movie is the only thing that keeps me from tossing this movie out all together. But JEEZ!! this movie could have been so much more. It should have been Act II. It could have been the best of the prequels. Sure, Anakin had to fall in III, but these movies feel like George didn't follow the order. There was a definitite act I, then another act I and Episode III as an act II. Are the films in the classic trilogy now act III? I gotta lie down for a while.

I like the new dialogue for 2 reasons:
1. It was cool to hear Anakin mentioned by name. It was a call back to Luke and Obi-wan talking about Anakin in Ben's house. I would have enjoyed this line a bit more if it was in the original version before we knew Anakin would have been played by Hayden.
2. The Emperor's dialogue of 'search your feelings, you will know it to be true' is a nice bookend with Vader's confession at the end of the film.

Revil's performance wasn't bad, but it was only a vocal performance. The old woman's on scene performance was just as flat and dull as McDermid's

Trooperman, great work on the lightsaber duels. The original cut of Anakin and Dooku had way too much footage of them just waving their sabers over their heads. I watched Clones the other night and that's where I realised it. The end of Clones just sucked. Way too much good timing in the arena battles. As soon as Anakin, Obi-wan and Padme were in trouble, the Jedi showed up. Same goes for the arrival of the Clones. Glad to see Yoda show up before Anakin gets his arm hacked off. Well, maybe at the same time. I hope you are planning to maybe overlap some of the arena battle as well. And don't forget about that 1138
