Idea & Help Wanted: for a vintage 'Sesame Street' preservation...
Time

Would anyone out there be interested in working on a collection of vintage Sesame Street clips? I am talking about the really old stuff from the first 5 seasons. I have about 20 videotapes of old episodes from Noggin! broadcasts of Sesame Unpaved. I am not sure if they are still on anymore. Turns out that Oscar the Grouch was orange the first season. Weird.

Any takers? Ideas?

Info: Theatrical Trailers...
Time
This could be a cool project, but a tough one to pull off. I'd personally like to see a whole series of trailers discs. Maybe a Sci-Fi one, a romantic comedy one, one for horror, 80's John Hughes films, etc.

I totally agree that trailers are cool little movies. I think the best part would be that I could watch quickie versions of comedies that are just too stupid to watch the whole thing. You get all the good moments without the filler. This wouldn't be a hard series to make, the tough part would be gathering the material.

***The "Darth Editous" Episode IV DVD Info and Feedback Thread*** - a partially "de-specialed" DVD

Stop the doors moving behind Chewbacca before they're supposed to.
Reframe the shot of the Wampa's arm because you can see the head and arm of the puppeteer (it's usually frame out by TV anyway but it needs fixing).
Possibly fix the window on Cloud City. It's a lot of work and there's enough cutting back and forth that it's not a completely obvious problem (you can almost believe they turn 90 degrees at the end of the corridor).
Put Boba Fett's voice back (an absolute must).
Possibly do something to the matte painting of the weather vane, like turning it into a 3D model and add some 3D movement. Fix various flashes of light that reveal the borders of the matte paintings.
Take out "Prepare my Star Destroyer..." etc.
Re-edit the Emperor scene so it's closer to the OT, but keeping Ian McDiarmid.
When Luke lightsabres the hatch open on the AT-AT, it's always looked a bit weird, as if his lightsabre passes through part of the body of the machine without damaging it.
Align R2's text on the X-Wing's display so it doesn't float around with respect to the display screen.

Just stirring the pot a little...

Anything I can do to help on any of these?

I can help with background plates and general photoshopping. I've been working on a concept Death Star for the ESB edit I could share once it is done. But I guess we need to redouble our efforts on TPM. CC, could you post a status report if where what we have finished so far and what is left? I know you said music and special effects are still needed.

What You're Reading Now: Revisited

John was the writer for over 50 Simpsons episodes, however is NOT a Simpson's novelization of any kind, but it has alot of the same type of humor that John has brought to the show.

If any of you have ever listened to the commentary tracks on the existing Simpsons DVDs, you'll notice that they point out John's jokes quite often...they also plugged this book, which is where i heard about it.

It's a quick read, witty, funny, highly amusing & i would definately recommend it to anybody

Next on the list: THUD! Terry Pratchett's latest Discworld novel

I actually just ordered "The Time Machine Did It" and I can't wait for it go get here. Amazon has the first few pages on line. I read it and laughed my 'hinder' off. Oh BOY!!

The Emperor's arrival at the Death Star has been suggested, but most of the footage we'd need for that to work is to be used in ESB's opening. So I want to go back to a point mentioned WAY back when RotJ was first brought up in this thread, the arrangement of the Jabba scenes. It had been suggested that the Boush/Chewbacca scene start off the Jabba stuff, with C-3P0 edited out. This intrigued me as it would make the plan for Han's rescue make a lot more sense. However, my attempts at making that kind of re-ordering work were unsuccesful. Any ideas on how to make that work would be welcome.

ROTJ

So is the difficulty in this how to get R2 into the Palace without Luke? I know you guys want to start off Jedi on Dagobah with Luke and R2 and have Luke go storming into Jabba's Palace when the plan backfires. The movie (and more explicitly in the novel) has Luke saying to Han that Luke has 'taken care of everything' by making sure everyone got out of the palace to fight for their freedom. This has always seemed to be rather risky and hap-hazard, although it seems easier than trying to fight your way out of the palace. I never really liked it. It just doesn't seem as cunning a plan as I'd expect from Lando and Chewie.

What if we had Bib Fortuna tell Jabba that in addition to capturing 'the mighty Chewbacca', Boussh also captured or seized some of Chewie's droid pals?

Oh, and I am putting a bold ROTJ in my thread in case people want to go back and archive various suggestions for each movie. It seems like something we ought to do to better keep track of all of these changes until a better archival system can be found. If you guys agree, feel free to do likewise.

Why am I under the impression that they are changing the opening for Empire also? I'd hate to see the opening with the Star Destroyer go, but I trust these guys will put something cool enough together that I won't even notice that is gone. Besides, the Star Destroyer openings are only a big deal if we choose to make it that way. To paraphrase Yoda, the only difference is in our minds. Unlearn what we have learned.
