I thought the goal of this site was to get the original versions of The Star Wars Trilogy Epiosdes 4,5, and 6 on DVD and blu-ray
Time

The original goal of this site was to get the theatrical versions of the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD.  The means that this site used to accomplish this was through an online petition that readers can sign.

Incidental to the petition, this site also has a great forum where members can yak about what they like or don't like about Star Wars, or talk about other movies or what ever topic they want.

Officially, it is actually the OUT (Original Unaltered Triliogy).  A clever individual on this site suggested GOUT (George's Original Unaltered Triliogy) and it stuck.

I called it the gout with some friends not on this site and they didn't know what the heck I was talking about.  I was happy to explain, though.

The 2008 '<strong>The Clone Wars</strong>' animated theatrical movie - a general discussion thread

Why did the clone wars movie have to return to the hated land of the prequels when it could have been set after return of the jedi and actually have characters i would care about, or feel engaged by.

Do you actually trust Lucas to make a movie with Han, Leia and Luke?  I think that would be the final nail in the coffin for many old school fans.

I'm happy to have Lucas only muck around with prequel characters.  He can do what ever he wants with them as far as I care.

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

Add this one to the list if you could.  It regards the destruction of the shield generators on Hoth.  I think it would be interesting to have a small delay before the sound reached us after the explosion.  It would make the explosion seem much larger.  Like the Pepcon explosion.

Well said, Mielr, and well said, negative1. The civility is refreshing. If nohandluke does want to continue the discussion, maybe it should be taken to PMland, though. I don't see Ady wanting to go through such things when he comes back, y'know? :)

Or maybe the General Star Wars discussion thread.  I'd bet 3/4ths of the post here would be better suited there.  It is like so many of you here (especially those that joined the forum after Ady's first edit was done) only know about this thread.  There are lots of other great places to post on this site.

Within the Star Wars expanded universe, a number of other powers have been demonstrated, those

include the ability to heal or drain the life-force of others, increase resistance to attack,

dissipate energy attacks and warp space.

examples of force powers in the EU, but not always seen in the movies (from wookipedia)

Alter Environment
Animal Friendship
Battlemind
Combustion
Cure Disease
Cure Poison
Dissipate Energy
Droid Disable
Electric Judgment
Force Absorb
Force Armor
Force Blinding
Force Enlightenment
Force Healing
Force Light
Force Meld

Revitalize
Sever Force
Shatterpoint
Wall Of Light

...

i hope this gives you some idea of the enormity of what is out there about the

force..

the basic view from the first 3 movies barely scratches the surface, and

is pretty lacking..

Ugh.  This is why I hate the EU.  There are so many contributers to the EU.  Everyone from the novel writers to the video game creators just end up trampling the simplicity that used to be Star Wars.  There are too many cooks in the kitchen.

Remember when the force was an energy field created by all living things?  When did the force become power-ups in a video game?  Is "extra man" a force ability?

-1, I respectly disagree, but the basic view from the first three movies is hardly lacking.  It is deep, rich and inspires the imagination.  It is only when everyone confines the force with 'can do this and can't do that's' that the force becomes ugly.  I've said it before and I'll say it again.  Sometimes less is more.

I posted my thoughts on the force a few years ago on a different forum if anyone cares to read them:

The middle ground...or how I learned to relax and stop worrying where I fit in.
Time

I am liking this thread.  It is nice to get behind the ideas of the fans and critics and see where they come from.

I don't know if I am middle ground anymore, but I can still see it from here.  I used to a PT defender, but after a while, I moved away from that after...

1. I could still consider myself a fan if I actually didn't think the prequels were that good.  I didn't need to pretend everything was still OK in the SW universe.  While parts of the prequels were entertaining, I still could face the reality that the new movies had problems.

2. I realized that just because the prequels dealt in archetypes and some of the same mythic themes as the classic trilogy, it doesn't overcome flat acting, dialogue and bad decisions from the directors chair.

and

3. Lastly, I felt like I could 'grow up' a lot as a fan.  It was a chance for me to put away the SW tshirts and toys (mostly) and stop reading the comics and EU novels.  Not that I was a big EU fan anyway...  But it was a way to move away from the stereotypical 'dresses up in costumes for the big con' and the 'still lives in Mom's basement' type of fan.  Apologies to any costume makers out there.

So now I enjoy the classic trilogy as great sci-fi/fantasy/space opera movies.  I love reading and researching the production of the first three films.  And, most importantly, it is like Bill Moyers once said "It is a lot of fun to watch Star Wars."

Star Wars is a fun place to visit, I just don't need to live there.

Stop fucking posting in this thread.  Let it die.  For god sake you stupid fags just let it die.

I got to agree with Rob on this one.  Well, maybe not with the same intensity....

I would love to see this project come to fruition, but all of the asking "Are we there yet?" isn't gonna get this done any faster.   Let it be.
