My Wish as a Star Wars and Indiana Jones fan. George Lucas please stop destroying Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Anyone else feel the same way?
Time

Mix feeling about this one.  Yes, I am tired of the constant makeovers of the original versions.  But I don't think I'd want George to stop all of Star Wars new ideas and shows because, even though I don't like them, I don't want kids to grow up without new Star Wars items.

Whatever way you look at it, ROTS beats you over the head with a big love-is-bad message. Yoda doesn't condemn attachment just for Jedi. He condemns it outright. And anybody who loved somebody might be willing to seek questionable help if that was the only way to save them. I do't think it's necessarily the mark of an unhealthy love. As for jedi not being intended to be something everyone should emulate, unfortunately the films aren't that clear about that and many people could get the idea the jedi are something to emulate. I'm not sure what Lucas's intention is there, but I think it's quite possible he might view the jedi as ideals to be emulated. I think the distinction between selfish and unselfish love, while possibly important to Lucas, doesn't work as regards the film's message. ROTS does come across as condemning romantic love in general.

It seemed clear to me that young Anakin certainly wanted to emulate being a Jedi after meeting Qui-gon in that one movie.

Worst of Wookiepedia

It's a damn useful site. I don't get into trying to edit stuff on sites like that. I think you're bound to end up pissed off if you do. I got some bullshit treatment on one wiki site and since then I've stuck to reading the sites and not editing. I've found wookieepedia very useful. That's not to say I agree with all their policies and attitudes.

As I am one who doesn't ever feel the need to punch up the wookiepedia, may I ask what is useful about it?

As for the topic of the thread, I don't see the point in nitpicking the logic of the OT. The OT WORKS. It just does, logical faults and all. So there's no need to kvetch over bad logic (this includes the Han rescue question). Save that logic nitpicking for the PT, which doesn't work. When a story convinces imaginatively and emotionally, it can survive logic faults, but when it doesn't, logic faults become a problem.

I sort of agree with this.  I think some things really don't need to be examined in too much detail because they work and the audience does suspend any disbelief.  The old issue of noise in space comes to mind.  Sure it is not possible, but who really cares?

That said, I think that even though the OT works, doesn't mean it isn't open to critique or critical thinking.  These discussions are an interesting look at the evolution of the story.  I don't see it as really kvetching.

Just because something works doesn't mean that it can't work better.
