Your first reaction to Hayden is ROTJ
Time
I often wonder what the legal implications of erasing part of an actor's performance from a movie years later would be if Lucas was still in the DGA and Sebastian Shaw still alive. And I was expecting much worse to happen really. I thought Lucas would replace Shaw for the unmaksing scene as well. One of the Dark Horse Infinities comics actually depicted Hayden's face when the mask comes off shortly before the '94 versions came out.

The Trekkies Are Unbelievable
Time
They aren't stopping with the effects shots. The analog chronometer on the bridge's navigation console was replaced with a digital one in tonight's episode. If the originals are made available on whatever HD format wins out, I can live with these pointless alternate versions. But if they don't, saying "they're on DVD" will be as weak an argument in a decade or two as Lucas' old argument that fans who prefer the OT have the VHS tapes to watch.
Interestingly enough, the CGI for the new cut of the first Trek movie was not done in HD. That will come back to bite Paramount in a couple years!

Lensman - dvd preservation proposal (* unfinished project - lots of info *)
Time
Sounds like a good project. The Japanese LD is supposedly widescreen, but I've never been able to get my hands on a copy. I'm thankful the domestic disc has the Japanese track though. The English dub is mono and sounds like it was recorded on a cheap cassette deck! Would love to also get my hands on the tv series boxset that came out in Japan, but it's still too damn expensive.

Making our own 35mm preservation--my crazy proposal
Time
The heck? I wasn't arguing about video resolutions. (I got enough aggrivation.) I was pointing out someone over at HTF owns a 35mm print and is contemplating trashing it because of fading and wear. Someone on there want to ask the guy if he wants to sell it? If it's beyond salvage, we can give it a proper Viking funeral at the big SW con next year.

Info & Help Wanted: Coming To Your Screens Summer 2007 - Super8 OT project...
Time
Back in the 70's, Kmart had a rack of Super 8 movies for sale. I'm sure other dept. stores did as well. I never saw full length movies for sale, but complete films (usually a set of four reels for a two hour film) are still sold by Derann in the UK to this day. And a certain movie trilogy apparently was a big seller for them. They actually still have ROTJ listed for sale, but it's not cheap!

Info: What is your dream fan edit if you could get the rare footage?
Time
The PG-13 version of Titan A.E. Several years ago, I corresponded a bit with a former employee of the now defunct FOX Animation studio who sold me some drawings from the film. She told me how the film was toned down in places to ensure a PG rating, and showed me frames from scenes that aren't on the DVD. With everything down to the animator's office supplies sold or auctioned off when Fox closed up shop, you'd think someone out there has a workprint! (Probably with the original "Planet Ice" title still on it.)

DVD exclusives from various retailers.....
Time
Thanks for making a list of these. The Wallyworld exclusives seem like the best ones. And who knows? Those old Marvel reprints might open a few eyeballs to what's on those bonus discs. It's interesting they aren't foisting those Dark Horse SE comics from '97 on people,
Odd thing is, the Star Wars comic is the first monthly issue cover, not the later collected Super Special.
