Of course if we are going off the Lucas Ranch models then check this out.

Sorry Adywan. But I think going off what someone's pics of Lucas Ranch models as something that is gospel might be troublesome at best. Or is it?

Both the Yoda model and the Tie model pics from the Lucas Ranch are claimed to be the actual real models used in the film. So why match the Tie fighters in the film to the Lucas Ranch Tie colors and not Yoda?

I think it's been documented that Yoda's original latex skin rotted away years ago.

There was a photo of an ILM storage area in Smithsonian Magazine in the 90's and a half rotted Yoda skin could be seen lying on a work table. Kind of a gruesome sight!

THX 1138 "preservations" + the 'THX 1138 Italian Cut' project (Released)
Time

I saw someone watching the late 70's tv adaptation of "Brave New World" on their iPhone today, and got a real THX vibe from the few minutes I saw. Could George have read the book in college?

On an unrelated note, my CLD-D704 has bought the farm again. Just when I was getting up to speed on weeding out my LD collection.

i normally don't like to use anecdotal evidence, but at a superbowl party with a sharp 65' screen, we saw the commercial for the movie. nobody booed or gave it a bronx cheer but a couple guys said 'with this big tv, why bother seeing it in the theatre? don't need the 3d". the battleship and gi joe movies got more jeers. surprisingly, not much enthusiasm for John Carter (man, did that commercial remind me of AOTC).

i mentioned earlier that the recent blu ray releases may put a damper on attendance - another factor is with big tvs becoming mainstream, maybe people won't care to go?

i wonder if we are going to reach a tipping point for cosumers preferring to watch movies at home because the flatscreens are large enough? ticket sales were down from 2010 to 2011 - but that was because of avatar.

anyways, i don't know what opening weekend grosses will be, but overall running I say absolute rock bottom $12 million and no more than $35 million. Im using the lion king and BATB releases as a guide.

damn, im tired. time for bed

John Carter I'm kind of interested in. PIXAR have always been real great artists and I like Stanton's work and it's based on a classic book. The Disney logo makes one worry and the trailers haven't been impressive, but I'll give it a shot.

It can only be a hundred times better than the SciFi channel version that aired last year. ;)

I am George Lucas :(
Time

I've struggled with this a bit myself over the years. I compromised a lot on editing my first video in high school, rather than fight with my fellow interns in the edit bay. I finally got my director's cut almost five years later, but I did preserve the original edit.

I had a more thorny problem with a Terminator parody I did in college. The opening shot is a cheesy model of a post apocalyptic building with a airliner sticking out of it. This absolutely killed the comedy for me post 2001, even though it was innocently done 13 years prior. I lucked out in that I still had the camera masters, and found an alternate take of the model where the plane couldn't be seen. I edited that into the video, and problem solved. I did preserve the original though.

On the flip side of the same coin, I finished another video I had to abandon back in college by shooting new linking scenes and effects several years later. The driving force was to parody the Special Editions.

In a perfect world, I would keep adding crap to it every seven years to keep the joke going. ;)
