There was also that Mysterious Island 3D movie competing for a lot of the same audience.
There was also that Mysterious Island 3D movie competing for a lot of the same audience.
More true today than it was in 1987!
Mel really ought to do Spaceballs 3D now. ;)
It never hurts to check. ;)
I was able to get it to play on my copy using the title search feature on my old Sony player. I could have sworn the "1138" trick worked on the other movies.
Are the French and Spanish title crawls separate video files? Maybe it's hiding next to them.
Because nobody else has ever put on a costume to go see a movie at midnight.
I saw a couple ladies wearing Transformers helmets at the theater once when the second movie came out. They were kind of cute too. More power to them.
And the kiddie trailer parodies continue! NSFW for profanity...

How dare anyone else have an opinion that isn't prequel bashing. Because it's a fact that the prequels are bad, not a subjective opinion. ;)
Exactly right. Glad to see you finally figured it out.
Chances are you don't even remember these words of Darth Maul: "Fear is my ally." One can well imagine that slogan scrawled across the office walls of men like Scooter Libby and tattooed across the back of Dick Cheney.
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but didn't this line never actually make it into the movie? As I recall, it's a line from the trailer, right?
It's from one of the "tone poem" tv ads.

Can't find it now, but someone must be familiar with the behind the scenes video where the LFL cgi artist is working on Yoda for Attack of the Clones. In the video, the artist says he is trying to convince Lucas that Yoda can be done convincingly in cgi. It's as if Lucas has higher standards for Yoda or something. I don't remember Lucas acting all that resistant in the video. But it is very possible Lucas was more resistant since Yoda seems to hold a special place in his heart - he does not authorize exploration of Yoda's backstory or species, for example. It's one thing to respect him for!
IIRC, Lucas was asked about Yoda's species once, and admitted he didn't know, but added that Mel Brooks thinks he's Yiddish. ;)
SA is one site I could care less about, or what some guy on their forums thinks.

Well, I don't know what to say. I tried going through the first disc earlier, but I just tried again and I cannot find it. I used DVDFab to rip the whole disc, then separated out the video from various files using pgcdemux. I don't get it. :-(
Are you sure it's not a bootleg disc or something? Some Chinese bootlegs I've seen toss away extra features to cram the whole movie into a single layer sometimes.
From a DVD easter egg site...
"On the first disc you can also find a blooper reel with DVD production credits. To see it highlight the THX logo on the screen and then press the numbers '1138' on your remote control. Alternatively you can also directly access Title 3 on the DVD for this feature. Please consult your player’s manual how to directly access titles as every player is handling this differently."
That would work too. :)
Perhaps Obi Wan could have a really long scream as he falls? Finally a good use for the scream from the '97 Empire SE! ;)
Talk about drinking the blue milk!
True. But Avatar wasn't a reissue.
I don't get these 3D headaches some people report having, (which is weird given all the migraine triggers I have) but I felt a little weird after Avatar was over. "Do not operate heavy machinery" kind of weird. ;)
They certainly spent a lot of on tv ads for this. I don't think I saw any commercials for BATB. The Clone Wars show is also free advertising of a sort.
Titanic has it's own cult thing going, so is bound to have a good opening weekend at least. Although three hours is going to be tiring even for people who don't get 3D headaches.
I think even Disney was surprised how much TLK made. A lot of people probably wanted to take their kids to see it twenty years on. The 3D Blu Ray wasn't out yet either.
I miss the classics being reissued in theaters. Disney pretty much stopped doing that by the end of the 90's.

This interview furthers my opinion that we will NEVER see the OOT fully restored on any format. I'm sorry, but the guy has comtempt for this part of the fanbase, and seeing his daughters tweets about the OOT fans too, she won't be releasing the OOT either when she inherits Lucasfilm.
Agreed. The battle is over. We've lost. This year all of the 3-D stuff and these interviews just salt the wounds.
As long as there are prints in private hands, it's not over. As long at there are fan projects keeping the originals alive, it's not over.
The fat lady at Jabba's palace hasn't sung yet.

God, I would just love to read an interview where the actual interviewer calls him out and sites historic references of him contradicting himself. Or actually say stuff like "Yeah, but Blade Runner has all versions available." There must be some contractual obligation that really limits what the interviewer can ask.
I'd love to read his responses. Maybe someday.....
That's why I don't think he will ever appear before Congress again.
Funny, but the myth that all 3D is uses the inferior red and blue glasses continues.
Lucas hates Jaxxon, but not that much! ;)
Thanks for the explanation, xhonzi. :)
I am not ready to write 3D's obit on account of some lousy conversions. I hope the studios will wake up and notice all the 50's 3D films sitting in their vaults. Release House of Wax, or Creature From The Black Lagoon around Halloween time, and people will pay to see them.

I think George is self-isolating. He's fairly ordinary-looking and I think he could put on a hat and walk around Frisco and few people would notice him much less recognize him. I used to live and work in NYC and I saw famous people all the time (much more recognizable than GL), doing ordinary things, and I never saw anyone speak to them, much less mob them. Maybe Frisco is different than NY (New Yorkers pride themselves on acting unimpressed by anything or anyone-LOL), but he's definitely not The Beatles circa 1964.
He's not even Lindsay Lohan, for that matter. :-PIf I saw George Lucas in anything other than his trademark flannel, I'd have a hard time recognizing him.
Shoot, trim the beard and lose the pompadour, and I don't even think Speilberg would recognize him.
Where's George? Can you find him? ;)
I've associated Lucas with Star Wars ever since I saw the making of doc on tv back in the day. He was a big part of the 10th anniversary celebration, even taking unscripted questions from fans. (Imagine that going on these days!)
Somewhere at Skywalker Ranch is a giant birthday card from that '87 con, with hundreds of well wishes from fans written on it. All variations of "Thanks George". It took a hell of a lot to piss all that goodwill away.
I was even happy to see him get his award at the '92 Oscars. Or course, that was before he was replaced by his evil twin, but I digress. ;)
Wow, I can't imagine this sort of behavior tolerated at the theaters around here. They even patrol the auditoriums three or four times during a movie, presumably to catch people trying to use a camera.
No burly ushers to throw those miscreants out on their asses?
