Did Episode III have a single location shoot?
Time

I recall seeing shots of Temeura in a spandex suit of some kind wearing what looked like an old Stormtrooper helmet, so he had a physical prop to use.

CGI clones for the battle scenes makes sense, but the logic of not even having a single costume to wear on the set for a simple scene between two actors escapes me. Then again, they stuck a CGI Artoo into shots that could have been easily done with the real prop in ROTS. Sticks out like a sore thumb.

Disney Acquires LucasFilm for $4.05 billion, Episode 7 in 2015, 8 and 9 to Follow, New Film Every 2-3 Years
Time

I've heard elsewhere the officially posted "Star Wars Detours" clips have been taken down from Youtube. (Don't have time to check right now.) Is my prophecy about this becoming the next Holiday Special coming to pass?

I'd bet Disney wishes they could make the Family Guy parodies vanish. ;)

Saw Disney head honcho Bob Iger on some financial news show while flipping channels today. He discussed Star Wars briefly, but made it sound like no casting decisions had been made yet. Either he didn't get the memo about George spilling the beans, or they're not officially acknowledging it. ;)

I hope George keeps straying off Disney's PR script...

I know the cast jokingly called him "Darth Farmer", but he still had to say the lines to give the actors something to play of off. The physicality is just as important to a character as dialog, as Peter Mayhew always proved.

I don't recall anybody around here being happy about Hayden in the Vader suit back in 2005. ;)

Info: James Bond - Laserdisc Preservations: 1962-1971

Watched that full frame TMWTGG tonight. Very dodgy print, there's actually  several missing frames when Bond leaves Hai Fat's mansion! (Or else 007 has mastered the art of teleportation.) The soundtrack doesn't fare much better in spite of the PCM. It's almost like listening to it on a old tv set at times.

The only nice things I can say about this edition is the trailer is included, and the jacket matches the other MGM Bond LD's. (Bet I'm not the first to mistake it for one of the Letterbox editions.) Back to the drawing board!

Info Wanted: HD Documentary Preservations?
Time

I saw CC once on Ebay, but the officially released version with the video generated credits had me fooled into thinking it was edited on SD video, and any 16mm print would be a fuzzy kinescope, more or less. The one on the Blu Ray is a totally different ancient analog video master, but has different a different credit sequence done on film.

Why there are two slightly different versions of the same doc is a mystery to me. Nothing seems to have been edited out, unlike the Disney clips excised from SPFX.

I keep hoping a print of the Temple of Doom documentary pops up someday.

For some reason I thought it was for budgetary reasons? There seem to have been fewer scope films made around that period. (There might have been an financial inclination to shoot a film more "tv friendly" as well.) When Spy was made, scope films were coming back in a big way post Jaws.

Got burned on a Bond SE DVD that wasn't original factory seal for the second time. Hope this isn't a trend, as I still need a couple for the original 5.1 mixes.

Call me ignorant, but what is Rule 34.  I did a Google search and the links make me nervous to click on anything for fear of running into something naughty.

But otherwise I am in complete agreement with your statement.

You're probably better off not knowing.

I'm constantly fascinated at the levels Star Wars has permeated our culture, so I have an awareness of such things. I'm also astonished that nobody had made an X rated spoof of SW until just last year. And that Lucas didn't call in a air strike on the people who made it. He can certainly afford an unmanned drone or two. ;)

ROTJ is a lot darker between the lines than most fans realize. Jabba isn't that far removed from an evil fat sultan leering at his female captive between hits off the hookah, but it becomes more disturbing when the sultan is a fat alien slug.

I think it's good that Leia takes Jabba down herself. That's one of the big audience reaction moments I remember all these years later.

A lot of Rule 34 has been inspired by the Jabba scenes. Not that I know about such things...

Inconsistencies, retcons, and other problems between the PT and OT or within the PT
Time

Obviously, the idea of Yoda's other pupils hadn't been explored during production of the OT, and it was thought that he was Obi Wan's sole teacher.

Episode II established Yoda as being an early teacher with the dead meat younglings scene. Padawans apparently move on to a single jedi master as they grow up.

Dooku went Sith much later in life than Anakin. And Qui Gon was his padawan...
