Eddie 2 was an ill conceived follow up when the original film (which didn't make a dent at the box office) became popular on cable and home video, and the soundtrack sold well. I can't even think of a song from the sequel off the top of my head.
Disney has abandoned the so called "cheapquels", but a handful of them were actually not bad.

I saw Harrison Ford on CNN about a split second before they went to commercial. Has he confirmed he's aboard for Episode 7?
They tried shooting on Empire with Peter Mayhew's stand in when he was completely exhausted from long days with Threepio on his back. It became obvious how much Mayhew's mannerisms are part of Chewbacca, and they could only do long shots or keep Chewie's back to the camera until his return.
The Clone Wars animators actually had Peter come in so they could get Chewie's moves right for the show.
Even Creepy Puppet Yoda has a leg up on his digital counterpart, because that's still Frank Oz hiding under the floorboards.
When Hasbro had live action footage shot for a Star Wars video boardgame, they got Prowse for Vader.
Maybe we will finally see some female troopers? ;)

Arguably, it was a premature end in '83, since there was going to be another trilogy after ROTJ at one point. (The semi infamous nine films remark Lucas made during production on Empire.) I can't imagine any of the story material Lucas has filed away is going to go to waste.

Veronica Cartwright stated in an old Starlog interview she believed her character in Alien was violated. Starlog got a few angry letters over the lurid tagline on the cover of that issue.
I doubt Kenner was concerned about them holding up to the scrutiny of being put in the family slide projector at the time. Perhaps they rephotographed what they had handy in their archive?
I'd bet those fake "collectible" 35mm film frames that sometimes get bundled with movies as a store exclusive don't look very good projected either.
