I think the Falcon would have been donated to some war museum

I can already see the climactic battle inside the museum, where the bad guy escapes...

"Oh no, he's getting away!" - "Wait, isn't that the old ship I used to fly?" - "It sure is, gramps... let's go!"

... and the good guys crash the Falcon out of its display box (or display hangar) to go after him.

Didn't the Battlestar Galactica reboot series do that already though? ;)

Stephen King finally got The Shining adaptation he really wanted. Yet, with the release of his sequel novel Doctor Sleep, he's been bitching about Kubrick's film again. I thought he had some sort of agreement with Stanley to knock that off?

It must suck to cash those royalty checks for editions of the book with Jack Nicholson on the cover. ;)

THX 1138 "preservations" + the 'THX 1138 Italian Cut' project (Released)
Time

I think msycamore mentioned some scenes in the 16mm are in a different order similar to the mysterious Italian recording? (THX's trial, the visit from LUH in the white void, and THX being manipulated by the unseen technicians.) The individual scenes themselves are not cut differently, AFAIK.

The logo and the SEN extended scenes are the only ones I'm sure about.

Why on Earth should the script be chained down to twenty years worth of novels? Believe it or not, there are casual fans who have never read them, and average moviegoers who just like the original films. Disney would like them to buy a ticket. Having to explain why Chewie's not around is going to be a distraction and a downer.

Saying the novels were canon when there weren't going to be any new movies might have made sense at the time, but it's just going to cause problems now.

Isn't there already a minor continuity issue with where the Clone Wars micro series fits in with the CGI show?

You don't have this issue with Trek. The shows and the movies are continuity king.

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

Has the exact time frame been pinned down yet? It's a twenty year gap between ROTS and ANH. I wouldn't expect it to be too close to the original film to duck the issue of why we don't see Leia doing her thing, or run into anyone else familiar.

They probably don't want to overuse Vader. The prequels and TCW proved Palpatine goes through a lot of expendable henchmen.

I wonder if a certain pair of droids will show up though.

True, but Yoda didn't fess up about dear old dad until Luke asked him point blank. Mentioning someone who was likely too far away to be of any help in the current situation wasn't what Luke needed to hear.

If Yoda couldn't sense any survivors after Order 66, going back to rig the Jedi Temple transmitter to send a warning to stay away seems pointless.

Ahsoka left the order, and they cancelled her membership, so it can still be true from a certain point of view. ;)

So, it's become that one relative nobody ever wants to mention by name at Thanksgiving dinner? As much as some people would like to forget those movies exist, it's simply not going to happen. It's called The Star Wars Saga, not the two movies we really like, plus the third one we don't like as much. ;)

Not referencing the PT at all would be pretty distracting. (And TCW is better than the prequels by a mile.) I don't see how they could even avoid mentioning Coruscant at least once. It would be like a political thriller not making mention of Washington D.C.

As I've said before, it seems pretty clear Yoda was sensing Mace die in ROTS, so I don't see him coming back. Unlike Luke in Cloud City, he got fried pretty good by Palpatine.
