STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

Why do these image heavy posts always make my connection choke? We really need a cut tag around here.

Ah, the Imperial Troop Transporter. Probably the first ever EU vehicle. I still like the design, but only carrying six guys, (besides the drivers) in a standing position must suck for long trips. Not to mention being a mobile shooting gallery for a potential sniper. ;)

Oh, come on! I love Star Wars a huge amount but "broad" and "deep" it is not. It's very simple storytelling done in a very good way.

Well I won't discuss "deep" because that is entirely up to opinion. But as for "broad", it is certainly is. OT deals with human nature, war, mythology, romance, growing up, militarism, politics, crime, etc. There is pretty much everything from the modern and past world projected through a fairytale into a galaxy far far away.

Just about every incarnation of Trek has dealt with these subjects, especially The Original Series and The Next Generation. TOS got away with discussing things most shows in the 1960's couldn't touch, because it was a science fiction setting.

Someone strong in the Force who's grown up not being taught by either side, is something we haven't seen before, at least not on screen. (Even in the Old Republic, the Jedi couldn't possibly find every kid with Force abilities.) The closest thing is Desann in the Jedi Outcast game.

I found the whole "too old to be trained" thing a bit suspect, as those rejected would be easily pickings for the Sith, or just go dark side on their own.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**
Time

There's no need to mention midichlorians in the sequels. (Why do I think of pool supplies every time I see that word?) A Jedi can sense if someone is strong in the Force, without a blood test. George only brought that in to reinforce Anakin as the "chosen one".

Luke has probably found and trained a bunch of new Jedi since ROTJ. His earliest students can be training new recruits by now.

If anything, the PT references can simply be visual. A portrait of Padme on a wall. Rusted battledroids on a long forgotten battlefield, along with skeletal Clone Trooper remains. Jar Jar Binks' tombstone.

Okay, the last one was wishful thinking, but you get the idea. ;)

I don't see any relevance of rumours among kids. If it is not in the film it means nothing.

Certainly there is no evidence that might suggest Stormtroopers were clones. Actually there is strong evidence that they are not.

The lava thing wasn't a rumor. It came from an interview Lucas gave in the 70's, and it went viral amongst the fans.

In any case, some of us kids thought Clone Wars meant clones fighting in a war. Your mileage may vary.
