What do you HATE about the EU?

I am not sure if its true but i think i read that a lot of continuity the novels later used, Zahn and going forward came from the West End Games stuff.

But it could also be  that an action figure card created the continuity.

How much leeway in such things was Kenner given anyway in the old days?

When the line was revived in the 90's, it was the also when every thing that ever walked or crawled it's way across the screen in the background of the OT got a formal name and a backstory. I think Kenner went with what they were given.

The Monk was a mail away figure, and I don't think it ever came out carded.

Remember when those weird guys in the cantina were simply Snaggletooth, Hammerhead, and WalrusMan? I kind of miss that simplicity.

Eh, she isn't doing anything shocking Madonna didn't do years ago.

Is it sad that I only barely recognize two of those young celebs? And I thought the one in pigtails was Cindy Brady for a sec!

Idea: any interest in a 16mm preservation of 'The Warriors'? (Theatrical cut)
Time

What appears to be a nice print has popped up on Ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/16mm-cult-feature-film-THE-WARRIORS-1979-Walter-Hill-/151204927400?pt=US_Film&hash=item23348417a8

There’s a youtube clip linked in the auction.

So, would there be any point in trying to nab this? I think the potential is there for another grindhouse-esque presentation ala Puggo Grande.

The film was shot open matte, and I compared the clip to Blu Ray screencaps to confirm this, so no apparent aspect ratio worries here.

I don’t think the bidding would get to Star Wars levels of insanity, (especially this soon after Christmas) but with film collectors you never know…

Sometimes, it takes a bit.  Now that I've got 1 & 3, finding 2 might be a bit easier.  Hopefully.

I will let you know Bring it On is decoded.

Thank you very much, this is greatly appreciated, and we wish you great luck on RH2, would love to have lossless audio for this baby.

DJ,

I've got a lead on RH2 .... I'll keep you posted.

Now that is music to my ears! this would be great news, thank you and I will keep my fingers crossed.

By the way all this DTS talk just reminded me I have not yet put my DTS LD rip of Mortal Kombat in sync yet, I keep reading this blows away the blu-ray audio and I want to hear the differences now myself.

Yes, it does blow the Blu Ray audio out of the water! The person's responsible for the anemic remix should be forced to watch MK:Annihilation on a continuous loop. ;)

I think the LD commentary should be preserved too, but synching it might be problematic as they start talking over the DTS trailer before the movie actually starts.

Guess the rules have been relaxed/ changed used to be image only posts or animated gifs got one banned.

Unless the rules don't apply to mods.

And i certainly am not a mod.

Found the 2010 version in Jay's thread.

  1. No personal attacks.
  2. No excessive profanity.
  3. Stay on topic.
  4. No image-only posts unless the image has a direct bearing on the topic at hand and it adds value to the discussion.

Guess i have been guilty of Number 3 from time to time but number 4 is very vague.

It relates to Marvel, which now has the SW license again. And it's a SW parody cover. Why do I have to explain this? I'm not the one who posted a picture of Lassie! ;)

Am I the only one who's afraid of Abrams becoming all-powerful like Lucas was?

No.  Kathleen Kennedy is all powerful like Lucas.

Or more likely who ever heads up Disney, and also the shareholders of Walt Disney company.

The Bean counters and money bags are all powerful.  Lucas was the artist as well as chairman of the board.  The days of the artist with a singular vision are over.  Its time for the corporation to make a watered down product as mainstream as possible for the masses.

Even the though they will be called LUCASFILMS they are not Lucasfilms.  He is not making them.  Disney bought the trademark and will use it confusing people.

Aren't you forgetting Lucas has lent his name to films he barely had any involvement in?

TBC is the one I'm hoping they don't screw up. A remastered DVD came out just a couple years ago, and it looked good to me. The original disc was not anamorphic, and might have even been from a master intended for LD.

As you say, it's lower tier status may be what spares it from being digitally scrubbed.
