Since when was CAPS an archival format? I thought CAPS was merely the replacement for ink and paint cels, the finished image being output to film the same way cels once were. I can't even imagine there were hard drives big enough to store the entirety of BATB and Aladdin in their finished form in early 90's.

I could have sworn I read an article someplace around the time the IMAX reissues began, that mentioned the difficulties just resurrecting those original animation files.

Nothing quite like getting a new DVD in the mail, and hearing the soothing sound of the disc rattling loose in the case when you pick it up.

Yuck! I hate that so much!!! :-(

Amazingly, not a scratch on the disc. Must have come loose recently. I have a theory cold temps makes discs pop off the "press to release" style hubs in transit sometimes. Last time this happened, the disc was really scuffed up.

The picky completist in me is annoyed the "collectible booklet" is missing though. ;)

Kenneth Branagh as (young) Obi-Wan

All the joking aside, this would have been genuinely an amazing casting choice that could have been.

^ This is what he looked like at almost exactly the time TPM was being shot and at the time AOTC was being shot...

...he looks even more like a young Guinness. Bet he could do the voice too.

Branagh is also a capable movie director. (He even did the first Thor.) I wouldn't be very surprised if he gets offered one of the other sequels or spinoffs.

A quick perusal of Ebay reveals TWL was Hi-Fi on VHS, but has the dreaded "home video version" on the back, which used to mean some music on the soundtrack may have been replaced.

Private School only seems to have Dolby NR visible on the labels. (MCA Home Video) There is a later version with the MCA/Universal home video logo on the box that would be more likely to have Hi-Fi tracks.

Anything reissued on the Goodtimes video labels should be avoided. (Universal farmed out a lot of bargain bin titles to them.) The tapes I got from them usually were recorded in the six hour SLP speed, and had poor tracking and usually no Hi-Fi.

Beta Hi-Fi tapes would be in a lot better shape at this point, if copies could be found.
