Cinema Cliche firsts

Dr. Lecter was imprisoned a long time before being moved to the glass cell. Wouldn't he take advantage of any slip up by the guards that presented itself at any time? His exploited his new jailers' inexperience, but I don't think he had a plan before he actually saw his new prison.

I'd like to know the first time somebody started singing that damn "mama's going to buy you a mockingbird" song right before something awful happens. It's been done to death in a lot of horror flicks.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**

Vector Prime got a lot of publicity when it was published in 1999. IIRC, it was the only EU novel to have a tv spot.

I know Chewie's death in the book got some media attention. Not to mention the author reportedly got threatening letters from fans.

Whether casual fans and moviegoers even remember this 15 years later is unclear.

That said, I think it would be a bit hypocritical of Abrams to ignore Chewie's death after chaining himself to the death of Kirk in Generations as the reason for not including Shatner in the new Trek movies. It would also be kind of a dick move on the part of LFL and Disney to just go "Hey, remember how we killed off Chewie and it was a really big deal? Well, we need to maximize our profits on these new movies, so, guess what? It never happened! Sorry!"

To me, whether or not Chewie is in the movie has absolutely zero bearing on how good the movie will actually be.

As has been stated in this thread by myself and others, hopefully we'll find out soon.

Kirk dying onscreen, and Chewie dying in a novel are two entirely different things.

And Abrams did have a scene at one point, where Shatner would have had a cameo in Trek '09.  For various reasons, it was never filmed.

Kirk was revived by the Borg in the novels anyway. :P

I would expect the displays on the Mon Calamari ships to look different. They could even be latecomers to openly joining the Rebellion, (we didn't see any of their ships at the end of ESB) and haven't had to scrounge to keep their ships going.

The Clone Wars series at least attempted to rectify the lack of familiar ships in the PT by showing "factory fresh" Y-Wings.
