fine ok

I'm nuts and the conspiracy theorists speak the gospell truth.

satisified?

I'm putting you on ignore temporarily just so I can take a break from you.   I am sick and tired of your bs.

Fair enough but the plane has now been reported as diverted by mainstream news, (which would account for the 'crazy asinine' phones still dialing) and Malaysian PM is now calling it a deliberate act.

It's not the first time a GPS tracked plane vanished either.

The world is still round, not the only centre of the universe and not held up by pillars the corners of which guarded by giant sea monsters. I'm sure you don't believe any of that to be literally true.

I remember the Air & Space article, and still find that one intriguing. Odd that CNN doesn't mention it when talking about other mysterious missing aircraft. Guess cannibalism in the Andes is more interesting to them.

Another one I just read about, a Varig flight that vanished in 1979. It was a cargo only flight with some valuable artwork aboard.

I wonder if this inspired the plot of Airport '77?

I think the youtube one is a a fake uprez. It's got the CBS/Fox logo and the video trailers present on my VHS copy. (Mine is the white logo box in the photo.) Even if they somehow got their hands on a video master, it's still standard def.

JEDIT:Even at 480p, it's blocky.

The other three docs may have been remastered for the 1995 Japanese LD releases, but SWTJ only had one LD release in the 80's. No idea if the later VHS releases were remastered.

Arguably, this is what has happened with Maul on The Clone Wars.

I think part of the problem is neither follow up villain was as compelling as Maul. The mystery about Dooku's true allegiance didn't last very long.

One of the animatics for ROTS make Grievous appear to be Maul reborn as a cyborg, but I've no idea if that was a idea Lucas was considering or the animators having fun with it.

Assuming that burned-in subtitles are a no-no, then I think the best we can do at the moment is a nice preservation of the NTSC VHS tape. I can send you a sealed copy if you think it'll help, poita. I currently have no gear that can chew through Macrovision.

Unfortunately, the PAL VHS tape is a just another crummy NTSC->PAL conversion. :-/

Isn't there a technique to blur out subtitles? I recall one early version of Backstroke of the West removing the burned in subs this way. I wonder if it's possible to blend in the "clean" part of the VHS image over the LD subs.

Inserting pan and scan footage from OT LD's might also work for some portions.

I've considered buying one of these units for a while, but don't have enough macrovision tapes to justify the expense.

I have the rowman bonus disc for Jedi that I got in 2005. It's on that, from what I understand transferred from a S-vhs vcr to a dvd recorder, along with the rest of the features.

Classic Creatures is on the blu ray set.

Classic Creatures is another head scratcher. It's another old analog video transfer, but it's different from the VHS and LD master. I previously thought it was edited on video as the closing credits were video generated, but the version used for the Blu Ray had filmed credits. Why there are two different versions is a mystery.

Wish I had known this several years ago when a 16mm print was on Ebay. I mistakenly thought it had to be a video to film transfer that would probably not be worth the trouble.

I'm still scared that a member here would talk about other members ............ ah, member.

That is far creepier than Warbler needing a reference check on something he is unsure about, LOL.

Web cams, taking the danger of falling out of a tree from peeping tommery since 1991.

Yet Jon Lovitz's character in Little Nicky, released in 2000, dies that way. ;)

Besides "The films need to be the way I want them," has Lucas stated anything as to why the Blu-rays became the travesty that they are?
Time

IIRC, Anatomy of a Dewback originally appeared on the Making Magic CD-ROM, which was included with a lot of LucasArts games in the late 90's, and that's what was used for the Blu Ray. Much like the original making of docs were transferred from ancient analog videotapes. :(

Luke has heard of the Clone Wars, so he must of heard of the Jedi. With the passage of time, (and likely Imperial disinformation) the specifics could get lost. If Luke was home schooled, Owen might have also put some filters on the materials he was using.

Nobody in the cantina seems to act like they've never heard of a lightsaber before, although they may never have actually seen one used.

Also of note is Han's dismissive attitude towards Luke's training aboard the Falcon.

Even if they put music up front, nobody will be able to hear it, as the audience will be going nuts anyway. :)

I dunno how you're able to live continuously in 1996, but I envy you.

There was loud applause during the Fox and LF logos opening nights of the SEs and Ep1. Mild cheering for Ep. 2 and nothing when I saw Ep.3.

For Ep.7, people will be too busy tweeing "OH-M-GEE! The Movee is startin! Gonna b tha best eva!! YOLO! LMFAO!!" to even know what the opening logos look like.

Hey! Let's keep a little optimism here.

Not at Alamo Drafthouse. ;)

I'm jealous!  The audience isn't quite the same at good 'ol Cinnema 16...  : (

I actually haven't been to one yet. They famously booted a teenage brat who refused to stop texting during a movie, and turned her angry phone call rant about it into an ad. ;)

They are only just starting to open up on the West Coast. The newest multiplex in my town seems to be enforcing similar polices though.

Maybe the Bad Robot will be made into a droid?

If it were done as a background droid, that would be a fun sort of cameo nod.

Maybe they could have a scene set on a planet with tall grasses in which a droid is running around, only to stop in front of a group of children who point at it and yell "bad robot!"

I don't think "robot" has ever been uttered on screen in a SW film?
