I do recall seeing mention of it in magazines of the day, but the actual source of the information was always obscure. (I doubt anyone involved was going to let pictures be taken back then.) As there seem to be other Atari items buried there, it would be interesting if some prototype games or hardware was found.

A similar story circulated a decade ago regarding Image Entertainment dumping their last remaining Laserdisc stock into a landfill.

It was allegedly Atari's worst selling game, and the company was eager to be rid of unsold stock that cost money to store. Videogames didn't end up in the dollar store back then. I recall stores where stuff gathered dust for years.

Ironically, the E.T. game released for Atari Home Computers a bit later on actually was pretty good.

 A Tomorrowland movie? Except for Pirates of the Caribbean,  Disney hasn't had much success turning their theme park attractions into films. An It's a Small World movie will likely bring about the apocalypse. ;)

Using the Kennedy assassination as a plot point is nothing new. Quantum Leap, the 80's incarnation of The Twilight Zone, the Clint Eastwood film In The Line of Fire.

Gene Roddenberry once outlined a potential Trek film storyline reminiscent of City on the Edge of Forever, involving Kennedy. I kid you not.
