Little room for a review battle. 17% on Rotten Tomatoes and 32 on Metacritic.

I would consider checking it out if it weren't three hours long. I do enjoy some good robo action and Marky Mark funky bunching. But I take my popcorn in bits. Anything longer than 100 minutes for a movie like this is way too long for me. I can handle stupidity but only for so long.

That is one thing I liked about the last Mummy movie(Which I am going to get around to giving my thoughts on at some point)and Sky Captain, they were both under two hours long.  We need more light adventure fair like that.  Some times less is more.

If a movie is really really good, you often don't notice the running time. A bad ninety minute flick can seem like years. ;)

Interesting how the tendency of studios putting scissors to a movie to shorten it's running time, so theaters can cram in more showings per day, seems to have reversed in recent years.

Standalone CD recorder for Laserdisc audio capture?
Time

With early LD titles, Digital isn't an option. Thanks to the idiosyncrasies of the studios, some analog sound only titles were still being released as late as 1991! Commentary and isolated score tracks are almost always put on the analogs as well.

The Beatles remasters sounded pretty darn good to these old ears.

Still waiting on the postman to deliver my Teac recorder.

Frivolous use of the Force
Time

Yoda's back is probably killing him after going all Sonic The Hedgehog on Duke Dooku, not to mention saving Obi Wan and Anakin from being crushed, so he gets a pass from me.

Obi Wan using The Force to close a compartment door in ROTS mere inches away from him is pushing it though. It's also a tad hypocritical, as Anakin gets scolded for those kinds of parlor tricks, when he's not putting the moves on a hot young senator from Naboo.

Random Thoughts

Even as a kid, when those long side shots of Spidey swinging along came up, where the only buildings are far in the background, I'd wonder where the heck the webbing was attached to.

Wasn't it the later episodes that got heavy into the recycled footage? Even the style of the show changed a bit by then. The backgrounds got more acid trippy.

I still dig the jazzy musical scores.

Yeah, I'd assume that if the senate was brought back that they would just use a lot of the Empire's infrastructure. Especially if Luke hasn't established a new Jedi Order, which is sounding likely from the rumors.

The Empire likely even had craft almost finished in shipyards that could be put into service, much like China bought an old, nearly complete Soviet era aircraft carrier and fitted her out.

I'm confused by this quote: “I’m really excited and you know, people keep saying that I liked the last trilogy and I did. I liked 1, 2 and 3. But I liked them as an adult, when I watched them they didn’t give me the same feeling I had when I was seven watching them for the first time and that’s fine."

Is referring to the OT as the last trilogy?  The wording is confusing.  I can't tell if he's talking about the OT or PT and then talks about liking them as an adult, but didn't have the same feeling when he first saw them?  Doesn't really matter in the long run, but it just confused me.

I wonder what made him cry specifically?  The Falcon set perhaps?

That same door that got Harrison dropped on him? It's evil! ;)
