Music only cable channel audio capture?
Time

No cable box alas. I just get basic cable which the HD sets in the house decode just fine. They gave everybody in the neighborhood some really cheapo converter boxes a few years back that don't even downconvert the HD channels. I might have to dig one out of storage and see what the specs are again.

I think it's Music Choice, but their site doesn't acknowledge my cheap ass cable provider. ;)

I've seen these little gizmos that take a toslink signal and convert it to two channel analog output on Ebay. Frys seems to have similar devices in store.

My plan was to route the signal into my DVD recorder. No toslink in on the laptop. Pity I can't just plug the toslink out from the tv into my CD recorder!

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.

One of those music only channels on my cable system is playing a wonderful eclectic mix of spooky tunes, (there's stuff I haven't heard before) and I'd like to save some of it, (for private personal use only of course) if only to survive the onslaught of Christmas music they'll replace it with on Nov. 1st.

I could record via the earphone jack output, but there must be a more elegant way?

And no, I don't have a DVR.

Life was more simple back when you could just pop a cassette in and record your fave radio station.

Some thoughts. Can you add a couple more annoying theater sounds? The rustle of candy wrappers, someone sucking the last microscopic drop out of a soda, or munching popcorn loudly? Candy wrappers were driving me nuts two weeks ago. ;)

It might be funny if Palpatine said "clone intelligence clones" instead of "intelligence units".

If you can extract "rise" from the ROTS teaser trailer, Palpy could say that to his lackeys to make them leave.

Perhaps he thought there would be blowback to replacing Sir Alec? (And not just from angry fans.) It would be pretty hard for even Lucasfilm's spin doctors to downplay a headline such as "Oscar winning actor digitally erased from Star Wars film".

The second and third set of SE changes were done somewhat quietly compared to the very much hyped '97 changes.

I think Obi Wan would have said goodbye to Luke at some point after ROTJ, much like he did in Heir To The Empire. There's always the holocron/hologram angle which Rebels has already done.

Ewan might look good with proper old age makeup, unless they CGI footage of Sir Alec as was done with Brando in Superman Returns. They would still need Obi Wan to say lines Guinness never said in the OT, which puts J.J. in Frink's shoes. ;)

Seeing the Ewoks kick some ass would great! Luke could have asked them to guard the remains. And told Threepio to keep his vocabulator shut. ;)

I'd never read (or even heard of) GOTG before the movie. But now I'm interested in going back and reading some. My local book store had put together a display stand of GOTG (and Starlord) books but I didn't know where to start.

Can anybody reccomend a collection/paperback/volume/story-arc/writer-tenure that is a good place to start? I'm more interested in books with the same-ish vibe as the movie (and with decent art obviously).

If you want to see Rocket long before he hooked up with Groot, there is a hardcover compilation of his early appearances in The Incredible Hulk and his miniseries from the 80's.

The original comic books have gotten a little pricey as of late, especially his mostly forgotten first appearance in a black and white 70's magazine.

Rocket isn't as angsty or trigger happy in his early incarnation like the movie though.

Well, he is one of the most iconic movie villains of all time. I think even non fans know who he is.

Where I thought Episode III goofed was in not giving us enough Vader. He was front and center in the ads, and photos like these were a tad misleading.

We only got Vader in suit for mere minutes. But that ship has sailed.

There is no way to have him living in the sequels, without undercutting the events of ROTJ, and pulling a retro continuity kick to the nuts worthy of Marvel comics.
