Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

It's foam packing material so the straps on the board they wheeled him in on don't scuff him up. And I thought I had poor eyesight. ;)

He's got a lot of carbon scoring there. Looks like he's seen some action. I like the idea that Artoo has remained loyally at Luke's side wherever he's been all this time.

What was the purpose of keeping those characters a secret anyway? There were so many other aliens we saw beforehand; why hide the Ewoks? It sounds like something George wanted for one of his "reasons".

If I remember audience reaction correctly, seeing Jabba in all his sleazy glory for the very first time was worth the secrecy. A movie should have a few surprises left up it's sleeve when you see it for the first time. I don't think we saw anything of the Emperor's appearance in Jedi beforehand either.

I'd wager the teaser is going to stick to familiar characters and things we already know about.

Yes, even the toy catalogs had them blurred out. Jabba was blurred out too.

I think the only ROTJ character to get any official exposure before the movie came out was Admiral Ackbar. He was Kenner mail away figure at the time.

The Marvel comic introduced a bunch of ferocious little furry creatures who help the rebels about a year or so before the movie. Lucasfilm requested they be redrawn to avoid similarities with the Ewoks.

Best image I could find on short notice. Had a spy shot of Shaw in that makeup and costume gotten out back then, it would have been a big deal. At least give me points for using the original shot and not the SE. ;)

The biggest leak on Episode III was the entire movie right before it opened. I imagine they will keep workprints under lock and key this time.

With principal photography complete, they better make sure all the shooting scripts are accounted for.

Episode III: Revenge of the Ridiculousness
Time

Cool song. Creepy depressing video.

I'll look through the few Natalie movies I have for the proper word. Would be funny if she said "no plot". ;)

Also, since they are outside, you could lay in a lot of annoying traffic sounds. Horn honking, angry drivers yelling and cursing, and some Jetsons car sounds? I think there's a traffic jam or two in Futurama?

JEDIT: Maybe she could say "you'll always be my little slave"?

Pretty much all of the artwork and designs I've seen have been pretty blah. I think the sith holding vader's helmet was the only thing that looked remotely interesting.

Will wait for the trailer but its looking alittle grim.

All Things Star Trek
Time

Several years ago, Shatner was on Conan and mentioned how a Kirk mask was made into the original Halloween mask, and Conan didn't believe him. Hilarious.

I just watched III last night. I like it a little more than I did in '82. And it gave me some decorating ideas that will have to wait until next year.

I've slowly been buying the Halloween boxset one movie at a time on Ebay to avoid the Zombie versions. Figure I can flip the later sequels if they blow.

And to turn this back to Trek, Kirk and company once had to deal with their own homicidal maniac who refused to die...

Never be alone in a room with Piglet. ;)

Music only cable channel audio capture?
Time

Well, I finally exhumed one of the cheapo converter boxes I mentioned before. They have good old fashioned RCA audio/video jacks on the back. Took a while to hook up and let the contraption update itself. Having 80's cable box flashbacks here.

Scanning through all the channels, I couldn't find that darn music channel. Then, I notice a button on the tiny remote with a musical note. Pressed it, and voila! All the music channels, well, just that one they don't scramble and charge extra for.

So I'm going to record straight into my old DVD recorder. Video quality is irrelevant to this, so I'm experimenting with the longer recording modes I've never used. Audio doesn't drop below 256 kps on any of those, which is more than enough for this.

Pretty sure the party is over at midnight, so I'm going to grab all I can grab! ;)
