Ironically, the rights are still tied up - Disney did a TV deal with TNT/TBS that is supposed to last through 2024 I think.

Pretty sure they were updated too. At least they are on the SE Laserdiscs. Those who have seen 1997 prints up close recently can say for sure.

Not everyone can stream to their heart’s content even if they wanted to. Conversation I had with the phone company guy installing my new DSL said it would take an act of Congress to get high speed fiber optic cables installed in areas like where I live. Physical media isn’t going anywhere.

Yes, I know. Just been wondering a long time if a better version of the Japanese dub was out in Japan on home video at any point. I suspect the source of the track Criterion used was a print. Maybe Japanese prints had the extension at one point and was later crudely excised? Stranger things have happened…

Rey seemed to get more out of the mental link than Ben, and perhaps subconsciously was keeping her guard up. IIRC, he couldn’t see her surroundings, at least not in the first contact they had?

Managed to get another issue of Star Wars Weekly during my last day in the UK.

I bought the other 2/3 of the “Princess Alone” story last year, and finally got to “complete” the story.

I’ve always really liked this story. Not only was it nice to the Leia do a “solo” mission for a change, but it was interesting to get to see the more “Orwellian” aspects of the Empire, especially in a story so early on in SW history. In many ways it’s a lot darker than most of what followed in the EU later on.

I think that’s the story that planted the idea in my mind THX-1138 could fit into the SW universe somehow. 😃

So long as the original mix is included in lossless, they can mix it in You’ll never have enough speakers to replicate this at home 14.1 for all I care. 😉

I think there was a Turkish SW preservation thread out there already? VCD isn’t the best source to base a project on. Owning a legal copy would be hilarious though.
