Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

Kylo Ren’s Imperial Shuttle flies with TIE Fighters to a Star Destroyer.

Sounds terrible like the Special Edition. "alert my star destroyer to prepare for my arrival."

Darth Vader’s helmet sitting on a podium. Sounds stupid it burned up in a fire.

No Luke Skywalker. Echoes the rumors that Mark Hamill is only in the film for a few minutes and is also dumb.

Sounds like the opening shot of ROTJ to me. It also communicates to the audience the Empire is still in business.

It's silly to assume Vader only had one suit and no spare parts. (It's the thing keeping him alive, if you remember.) In fact, it helps explain the differences in the costume across the OT.

Do you really want the trailer to give away the whole deal? We have eight months to go. Given the amount of time Mark spent getting back in shape, and the time spent in England filming, it's going to be more than a glorified cameo at the very least.

I'm guessing that Kubrick wasn't responsible for that (hinted at in that article)? Unlike Lucas, who is responsible for messing up his films.

Kubrick never got around to supervising any modern transfers of his films. (AFAIK, only the Criterion LD's of 2001 and Dr. Strangelove bear his seal of approval.) He had just finished Eyes Wide Shut when he passed away in 1999.

Episode III: Revenge of the Ridiculousness

I don't know, I kind of like the second one. ;)

You could make a entire gag out of Vader's voice being tweaked until they get it right. If you can create a closeup of the main medical droid, and add goofy sound fx of him adjusting the voice, that would sell it. Might also give Vader a new motivation to crush all the droids in the room.

I am aware of voice changing gizmos that the more elaborate Vader costumers use, but have no idea of the quality or price.

I agree the first one is the best the more I listen to it.

Advice Sought: Carbon Fiber Drink Coasters - Featuring Classic Star Wars Sigils

Don't mind Frink, it's the way he is. ;)

Merchandising isn't the main focus around here. In fact, memorabilia might not even make the transition to the new board. There are boards more devoted to collectibles like rebelscum you could try.

We've also had server troubles plaguing most of our users in the past week. The site has often been impossible to get past the front page.

I do like the designs, but I'm fuzzy on how you plan to license them. A Death Star silhouette might be more instantly recognizable than a Tie Figther solar panel.

P.S. Your signature image is a bit too big.

Could you resize it to at least 600X120 to comply with the rules? Thanks!

Just 15 to 18 days until the official announcement that the OOT will be released.

The only rumor I've heard is that we'll get to stream the SEs:

http://furiousfanboys.com/2015/02/action-figures-confirm-a-digital-release-of-the-star-wars-saga/

I'll warn you, though, that the above is a completely obnoxious site. Here's a nice quote from a piece linked from the above URL:

Just because the intellectual property changed hands from Lucasfilm to Disney, it doesn’t change the fact that Lucas maintains his cuts of the movies. Lucas doesn’t profit off of Star Wars anymore, but that doesn’t give Disney (or Fox who still owns the movies until 2020) any right to go in and chop up his movies to make a quick cash-grab off some jilted fans hopelessly clinging to nostalgia.

Yours truly,

Jilted & Hopeless

Some people have a strange definition for restoring the original theatrical versions. ;)

You can probably get a good deal on an older model if you don't need all the bells and whistles. Wi Fi seems pointless when you can just pop the memory card into your computer. I'm sure some hacker is going to find a way to steal photos from those cameras.

I'm mostly happy with the digital SLR I got at Target in 2013. Took a while to get the hang of it with all the settings and buttons. Autofocus seems to get dumber with each camera I've owned, but at least I have manual override now.

All the drugstores near me have apparently gotten rid of their photo processing equipment. (Where they actually send the rolls to be developed now is anyone's guess.) Funny thing is, they seem to have more film rolls for sale now, not just the single use cameras.

I haven't shot any film in a couple years, (my SLR was getting creaky with age and actually chewed up part of a roll) but the local Costco still does developing on site at least for now. I think Walmart still does as well?

I'd love do something with my Polaroid, but the film, (now made by a third party) is too expensive for me. Why no other company has ever used sonar fousing baffles me. It blows infrared away.
