You have to give the fourth one points for blending in unused footage from the original.

I am so looking forward to the fifth one! Hopefully finally coming out next year.
They’ve been yanking the trailer since it leaked, but I’ve seen it. 😃

The fact that “Attack of the Clones” has a “fresh” consensus at rotten tomatoes just baffles the hell out of me. Revenge of the Sith even has a score of 80% fresh, which while obviously all star wars fans have issues with it I can at least understand as it really isn’t a bad film like the other two prequels were, it just isn’t a good ‘star wars’ film.

Just proves that RT users are a fickle and inconsistent lot. And now studios are starting to RT ratings in movie commercials rather than quote critics nobody has ever heard of. 😉

What’s to keep the studios from creating a bunch of fake accounts and skew the numbers anyway?

Anyone else think JJ secretly filmed Billy Dee’s surprise cameo like he did with Nimoy in Star Trek Into Darkness?

Anything is possible these days. All you need is a camera, some lights, and a portable greenscreen.

You’d think some obsessed fan would have been tracking Billy Dee’s movements for the past year. 😉

I wonder if the holograms will be done “old school” as they were in the OT? Shot on video, and reshot on film off a CRT monitor.

What 'a Star Wars Story' / anthology / spinoff film would you like to see?

I think Disney shouldn’t adapt Expanded Universe storylines because it’s just lazy. I think I’d rather see Lawrence Kasdan’s take on Han Solo’s past than an adaptation of an obscure EU novel. I know there’s some good stuff in there, but why would you want to see the same story again?

I would hardly call the Brian Daley Han Solo books obscure. Aside from the Lando books and Splinter of the Mind’s Eye, those were the only non movie adaptation novels out there before 1991.

Daley wrote the expanded scripts for the radio adaptions of the OT. If he was still around, he would probably have been considered to write a sequel.

I was fearing a total meltdown if we didn’t get off enterhost before December. Look what happened with those online ticketing sites last week.

I think by the time you can retrieve the old avatars, most people can replace their own or retrieve it from archive.org snapshots of the old forum. If it’s going to cost you money to get them back from enterhost, it’s probably not worth it.

I agree with their decision. It’s a drag for the folks who do it for fun, but we don’t live in an innocent world anymore. Too big of a film event. Batman drew in the mentally disturbed, as did the recent zombie con. If I had to guess, zombie con probably sealed the deal. Everyone dressed in blood and injuries made it extremely difficult to sort reality from cosplay.

In spite of the name, Zombie con was a large outdoor event though. That’s a lot harder to control. (And as the shooter hasn’t been caught yet, the motive is unclear.) Theaters could search patrons or make them walk through metal detectors, but that’s an expense they probably don’t want. Even Disney lets costumers into their parks during Halloween events.

This kind of blows…

I completely understand why theaters are doing this in the wake of the actions of sick individuals, but that just eliminates more than half the costumes fans would want to wear.

The lightsaber battles I saw in a theater before TPM started are but a pleasant memory.

My friend bought a sealed copy of The Story of Star Wars yesterday and we spun it at his place. It’s crazy how easily I can picture that movie!  I kept looking at his TV expecting to see the film.  It didn’t sound so great (don’t know if it was the player or a bad pressing), but it was unique listening to the Williams score so lo-fi.  I’m not used to saying that about vinyl, lol.

Also, the narrator calls the Falcon a pirate ship. I’d forgotten that. The original’s a sea picture in space. A classic adventure. It’s dated for that reason, but I love it nonetheless.

IIRC, the picture disc version, (which I amazingly still have) sounded atrocious after just a few plays. That translucent vinyl must have not been very durable. For decades TSOSW was the only way one could hear “close the blast doors!” from the mono mix.
