Are you sure? The version I saw was definitely not 2 hours and 40 minutes long. It was 2 hours and 20 something odd minutes.

I mean you saw the roadshow version with entrance music, intermission, and exit music. Nobody has seen the longer cut since 1968, except maybe the guys who found the footage in the Warner/MGM vault a few years back.

Keeping my fingers crossed the Kubrick estate consents to letting that out for the 50th anniversary in 2018.

2001: A space odyssey.
Liked it. alot. almost loved. everything about it worked, its only flaw being that it sometimes got carried away with itself. the extended sequences of no dialogue carried by music, while they did work and were very enjoyable, were at times alittle (and i do mean a little) excessive. The minutes on end of blank screen were a bit much tho, although I don’t know that I’d remove them. I give it 8 passive aggressive remarks made by\to a computer out of 10.

I actually always read the wikipedia page on a movie before watching so I knew this existed, I don’t think I would like to see it.

You just saw it. 😉
