Spaced Ranger BANNED/Silenced? - Au Contraire!
Time

What’s not to understand? He obviously learned nothing from his ban, Jay was right to ban him, and Jay made a mistake by letting him come back.

A permanent ban was weighed against his contributions to various projects around here. If those mean anything to him, he’ll behave. There won’t be any second chances.

On 5 February 2017, American-born NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) scientist Sidd Bikkannavar published a Facebook post asserting that he was detained by United States Customs & Border Protection (CBP) officials while he was returning to the U.S. from Chile, who seized his phone and demanded access to its stored data/

That’s really unfortunate and disturbing if true. Someone forgot to tell them JPL and NASA are on our side? Although this picture makes me wonder what they might be working on these days…

That’s no NASA meatball! That’s a space station! 😉

I’m praying for no prequel references. That’s all. I honestly don’t care about anything else.

I think I’m going to judge the film on how good it is, rather than if there’s a random comment about Geonosis.

This. TFA had no PT references and it sucked. On the other hand, R1 had PT references and it was good.

After Finn’s defection, one of the New Order guys was touting how clone troops would be better.

There are a few minor references which are negligible compared to references in R1.

I count two in each film, and at least half of those barely count as references.

TFA:
• “…balance in the force”
• “…clone army”

R1
• Castle Vader happens to probably be on Mustafar
• Bail Organa exists

Both movies’ PT references are very minor.

Bail existed in the OT, he was just never named on screen. (I knew his name as a kid thanks to the novelization and the Marvel comic.) The important fact is Jimmy Smits reprised the role.

He was in the Marvel comic? I don’t recall reading his name, and I read the adaptation (and subsequent 20 or so issues after) not too long ago.

It was issue 24, which was an Obi Wan flashback story set during the Old Republic. Bail was mentioned by name, but not seen.

I’m hoping this is a redesign of how the USS Discovery will look on the show. It’s a nice upgrade to the NX-01 Enterprise. The Klingon look does not bother me. I went through the entire shock-factor thing with the change of Klingon design in 1979 with The Motion Picture and have lone since gotten over it. Having a stronger depiction of a more savage war like non-human alien race appeals to me. On of the major reasons I could not get into “Enterprise” was due to all the alien races being so very similar to humans.

You never watched the Xindi arc? They had insects and aquatic species among their ranks.

Star Wars parody from the makers of Scary Movie and other movie spoof films

I’m amazed they got away with putting “Star Wars” on the cover, tbh.

And it’s a discredited genre now, but in the 70s the line between porn parody SF and actual SF was very thin indeed. There’s a reason several future Star Trek VFX artists worked on the 1974 Flesh Gordon.

I thought it was because they needed the work pretty badly, as there weren’t a whole lot of FX laden pictures being made before Star Wars? Aliases were used in any case.

They probably do get a limited release on a handful of screens somewhere, (I presume the doors are locked to keep patrons from fleeing) or else the IMDB is wrong. Straight to video stuff doesn’t bother with an MPAA rating as it does cost more than a few bucks just to submit a movie to the ratings board.

As long as Spicer can do a better job than some guys in a Star War’s forum could, that’s good enough.

I’ll be honest, I don’t think I could do his job without making far more mistakes due to the pressure, than he has.

Isn’t he juggling two jobs normally done by two separate people? (Press secretary and communications director.) That may be part of the problem.

Difficult article to read… the author has such enthusiasm but there is lots of missing info. What is her home country? Which “travel ban” is it talking about? Who exactly is calling her a terrorist? Would Trump’s ban allow her into the U.S.?

I believe Denmark is calling her a terrorist and I think she is Danish. She broke a travel ban to enter Syria to fight ISIL as the article states.

A more thorough and less simplistic report of the story:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/joanna-palani-danish-kurdish-woman-ypg-peshmerga-iraq-syria-fighting-isis-faces-jail-passport-police-a7471266.html

Wait wait wait…are you saying Joe the Plumber would do anything less than thorough journalistic work?

That not a real plumber douchebag is still a thing? I’d bet McCain regrets giving him his 15 minutes sometimes.
