Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

I’ve got no problems with Maz if there’s a logical reason for her to be there. She just felt shoehorned into TLJ like it was an afterthought. Maybe if it had taken some effort for our heroes to find her and get the info instead of just making a holographic phone call?
Would be nice if she’s got a new establishment big enough to hold the victory celebration party. The movie has to end with one, right? 😉

The only thing I truly regret is him selling out to the very thing that represented what LFL was founded to rebel against.

This.

But I think a certain part of Lucas always admired Disney. Remember that kids across America in the 50s grew up watching “Uncle Walt” promote his movies and then his theme park every Sunday on ABC. Something of that showman’s magic must have left a lingering impression, and made it easier even decades later to ignore what the company has basically always stood for in corporate terms.

And Lucas evidently admired Disney’s total commitment to maintaining the illusion of reality for a child audience. So much so that he initially tried to emulate the old Disney practice of not revealing voice-actor credits with the droids in SW, pretending they were actual robots rather than performers in suits.

Anthony Daniels and even Kenny Baker were always credited in the film. IIRC, it was more Fox marketing/publicity dept. that wanted to push the notion they were actual robots in the early days. If you can find anything that shows Lucas was on that bandwagon, I’d like to see it.

The Mandalorian - Star Wars live action TV series : Non Spolier thread

I think at this point Boba Fest has too much baggage, between EU fan expectations and the canon realities of the character. A new Mando allows a completely blank slate (which is what made Boba interesting in the first place).

Where can I buy tickets to Boba Fest? Does it have a decent lineup of musical acts? 😛

Here’s a pic of Mark Hamill with Corvette Summer co-star Kim Milford (left), at the Las Vegas Hilton circa July 1977. I don’t know who the other 2 people in the photo are, but Mark looks like he’s being held hostage.
Cool to think I was actually living in Las Vegas when this photo was taken!
Here’s the article that the photo came from:

Kim was probably talking Mark’s ear off about how Laserblast was going to be bigger than Star Wars. 😉

Attack of the Clones 35mm - on eBay, bought - and now project thread (a WIP)

Here are a few frames I scanned in with a Nikon 2000 some years ago from bits of a film trailer, if anyone following this thread watns a look at perhaps vaguely what the full project here might look like (I haven’t ever scanned anything from the full final 35mm theatrical release reel for AOTC, with the different wedding scene, only these few scenes, scanning with a stills scanner is a slow process, from a scope trailer I got. These are the downscaled to 1920 across ones. Have the full size somewhere on my HD.):

Rian Johnson to Head New Star Wars Trilogy
Time

Darth Hade said:

Johnson’s trilogy will never happen. Disney is not that stupid.

This guy has completely polarized the fanbase like no other.

It’s worse than the backlash against the PT and Abrams hiring combined.

Movies are done for the time being after TROS.

They have high hopes for The Mandalorian and the Obi-Wan series. They are less sure about the Cassian series.

And they know fans want more Clone Wars.

As far as Star Wars being bigger than ever, well, that is b.s.

Solo was a colossal flop mostly due to TLJ backlash.
Toy and EU merchandise money is way down.
Galaxy’s Edge is not going as well as they initially hoped.
And they are worried about TROS. They feel like they have lost a sizable chunk of the fanbase forever.

Trust me. I am in this world and I own a ton of Disney stock. I specialize in currency arbitrage, but I know the common stock and commodities markets just as well. In fact, Disney is under suspicion for lying about their profits.

If anything, they will go with those Game of Thrones guys for any future movies. At some point, we will wake up to find that Disney and Johnson have parted company.

You own Disney stock? Why aren’t you representing this forum’s interests at stockholder meetings? 😉

Didn’t mean for it to sound that way.

But look at it this way…

We got Force ghost Yoda.
You know we are getting Force ghost Luke.
If Episode IX is officially the end of the Skywalker family saga, wouldn’t it make sense to want to see and hear from the main man, The Chosen One?

Steve Oedekerk? 😉

nobody is going to get this joke
