My Star Wars is an orange/green color palette, the crispest 1080p subtitles you’ve ever seen, Yub Nub, ambivalence towards TCW. An unconditional love for Disney and everything they do, the realization that TFA is not only better than the Prequels, but better than the OT, and my discovery of breasts.

The pathetic thing is that this post is no better than the troll’s OP.

What rule did I violate? I clearly criticized his post.

^ I agree.
Jabba is great (except that his mouth flapping up n’ down doesn’t match the sounds he’s making), but there are a lot of half-assed rubber masks that are too close to the camera and stupid, unbelievable designs like the blue elephant.

Of all the goofy aliens in Jabba’s palace, you pick on Max Rebo? I’ll take Max any day over the fat frog they added for the special edtion, who appears to be sitting on a crapper. 😉

Part of the problem is not that the masks were “half assed”. They were probably never meant to be seen in closeup. They are no better or worse than what was in the cantina scene.

Live action creature FX were never ILM’s forte before Jedi, and the creature shop seems to have faded away not too long after.

With all due respect to her memory, I think Carrie would appreciate her character getting the end that fit the story.

I guess she might’ve, sure.

I think Leia’s role was to bring back Kylo to the light, in a very conflicting and heartbreaking moment most certainly saved for EP IX.

Ehhh…

I can imagine this scene in my head, in which Luke is dead and Rey defeated - Snoke believing all Jedi now to be extinct, with Rey and Kylo - having tried to overthrow Snoke - both laying wounded on the floor infront of him. And then, in a “what the fuck are you doing here?” reaction from Snoke as Leia suddenly walks into the room from out of nowhere, Leia suddenly wreaks mental force havoc on Snoke, killing him in the most brutal force usage scene we have ever seen on screen, crushing and slamming him from wall to wall until every bone is broken in his twisted, pale body, only for Leia to give the biggest one-liner ever: “I’m not afraid of the Dark Side, Lord Snoke - I relish it in the favor of my son”, crushing Snoke’s head right off with the very swift movement of the Force from her hands, leaving his wretched body more pale and lifeless than ever on the dusty floor.

 1. No.
 2. That’s not even a one-liner. It really doesn’t even make sense.

I don’t give a shit what you think ❤️ From my point of view your behavior is evil! Lil’ Ani would flesh you with his exhaustion vents.

Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread
Time

In spite of Leia’s wisecrack, there are short troopers in the OT.

I didn’t notice any fat troopers in R1, but I can imagine Troopers out in the boondocks on the really sucky assignments getting a little lax. Rebel agents or sympathizers working in the food industry might give them extra portions to fatten them up and slow them down. 😉
In the real world, maybe there were more skinny guys working as extras in the U.K. back in the 70’s?

I finally got to sit down and enjoy my blu ray of Rogue One tonight. I love this movie more every time I watch it. Even characters that I felt were lackluster (such as Jyn and Cassian) have grown on me a lot. And I flipping love Baze and Chirrut, Guardians of the Whills (that is still SO cool).

I will say the hoops they have to jump through to actually transmit the plans get rather convoluted and are maybe a bit too much. But it’s not bad enough to hamper my enjoyment. Oh, and my wife pointed out that Jyn and Cassian amazingly have time to change out of their imperial disguises and back into their regular clothes while in the vault as K-2SO is fending off waves of Stormtroopers.

IIRC, the original film already established that Imperial uniforms magically fit over one’s own clothes, boots and all. 😉

We just saw Coruscant briefly in Rogue One, not to mention Bail Organa, played by the same actor as the prequels. TFA made a reference to clone troopers.
And as I’ve said in the past, if Leia had a portrait of Padme or something, it wouldn’t bother me.
Just as long as Jar Jar stays dead. 😉

He’s not dead; he got a worse fate. He’s a street performer who is mocked by everyone because his idiocy is the the reason Palpatine rose to power.

You haven’t been keeping up on Frink’s edit. 😉

Just kidding, I remember enjoying ‘seaQuest DSV’ at the time but I suspect it’s probably one of those shows that it’s best to not re-watch now and let the memory stay golden.

It was amazing how fast they went from being a straight “science based” show to plots straight out of Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea. (Before lurching back to being “serious” again in the third season.) Irwin Allen probably would have sued if he wasn’t dead at the time. The environmental messages were often about as subtle as a boot to the head. I laughed my head off at the premise that beef was illegal in the future. The beef lobby is more powerful than some third world governments. 😉
Interesting we’re less than a year away from when the series was originally set.

It not a gimmick. 3D has been around in one form or another since the 50’s. People once thought talking pictures, color, widescreen, and stereophonic soundtracks were gimmicks too.

The problem is that too few filmmakers seem really interested in fully utilizing it. There are barely any native stereo productions hitting theaters this year. Transformers 5 is the only one I know of, off the top of my head. Even Paul W.S. Anderson and Ridley Scott abandoned native stereo for their latest movies. Alien: Covenant isn’t even getting post-converted.

There have been too many mediocre conversions. The only one I’ve seen that was actually a good conversion was Guardians Of The Galaxy, which wasn’t afraid to have stuff “pop out” of the screen.
