Phasma doesn’t make sense towards the end of TFA. Why would she give up just because she has a blaster pointed at her head? If she’s some sort of hard core Stormtrooper she would have shown a little more resiliency. It doesn’t make sense for her character. She should have said screw you guys, shoot me, I’m not helping you.

Sometimes someone’s resolve crumbles when a blaster is pointed at them? And it would look nasty for our heroes to shoot her once she’s a prisoner in that situation anyway.

Then the DVD arrived and everything got worse. The pacing was off (an already too long race got longer) and some CG scenes surrounding the pod race got longer and more embarrassing. Ironic that the theatrical cut of TPM has never been on DVD at all.

It’s also possible Tarkin wanted to hog all the glory, and kept a blackout on where they were going. The question of why the Imperial Navy didn’t show up soon after was addressed in the Marvel comic. The Empire was trying to conceal that their biggest weapon went kaboom, and massive fleet movements would betray something was amiss.

ESB certainly proved the Rebels could take out a stardestroyer or two while bugging out.

The simplest explanation is Star Wars was originally intended as a standalone film.

Why the need for R2 droids in the PT anyway? Lucas could have come up with a new and totally different kind of droid for the Prequels.

Lucas said way back during production on ESB that Artoo and Threepio were the only characters intended to appear in the entire saga. Therefore R2 units have been around a long while.

I didn’t realize that The Clone Wars Jedi starfighters also have questionable designs.

The only thing more silly is how they made him fit in a Naboo starfighter.

The AOTC Jedi ships get a pass, since it’s supposed to be canon they integrate only an astromech’s head to the fuselage.

Mike’s techniques can be applied to other films, so the R&D is going to be valuable either way.
