Laptop screen problem

Depending on what all you use it for you can get a cheap acer laptop at Wal-Mart for less than a hundred bucks these days.

The thing to watch out for is the less expensive laptops can have a pitifully tiny amount of memory, and no expansion slots on the motherboard. (Even the battery can be hard wired.) The HP I bought in a hurry last year for around $200 to replace my dying netbook right before a trip required a SD card, just so Windows 10 could do it’s upgrade crap.

Other than that, it suits my modest travel computer needs.

Too bad we can’t add a bunch of CGI crap to The Wizard of Oz just to see if anybody notices. Purely as a thought experiment of course.
If any movie is burned into the public consciousness, it’s that one.

There was an IMAX 3D version several years ago. Does that count?

I would think most people knew it was a conversion going in. At least I hope so!

I did read somewhere it was a good conversion job for once.

Bought some groceries at Target, and passed through the toy aisle, and what should I see? That action figure two pack with Moroff! Only one on the pegs, and sitting right in front like it was waiting for me. Impulse buy! Haven’t bought a SW figure in a long time.

Awesome. I’ve never had a Star Wars shirt or toy, but I feel like I’ll be correcting that in the coming weeks. I have my Rogue One socks as my only wearable Star Wars things ever, but I feel like I’m this close to getting a shirt.

I find that amazing you’ve never had any merchandise at all. I’ve had more than a few shirts over the years. There are so many cool shirt designs out now it puts the 70’s stuff to shame. As hard water out here eventually ate away my favorite shirts, I kept my 10th anniversary shirt in mothballs until I saw TFA. Still fits like a glove.
I’m sure modern science could explain why two printed shirts of similar fabric survived my childhood but all the others didn’t. (The iron on stuff was faded by the third wash.) Neither one is Star Wars though.

I got some kind of bug too. Mild cough, a bit of chest congestion and generally feeling run down and lousy most of the time. Felt like I had something stuck in my throat when it started on Monday. Don’t think I caught it on my trip, as I’ve been home over a week now. Thank goodness I stocked up on cough medicine after the plague I suffered through last winter.

I can’t even recall the last time I got sick in the spring/summer.

You’re probably right. It’s just mind boggling that any version of a movie could be so erased from the public consciousness. And it wasn’t done by a bunch of uncaring studio bosses, or some repressive regime trying to stomp out a book or film they don’t like. The director did it in the library with a candlestick.

Of all the people I consider creative influences, George is the only one who’s disappointed me. Harryhausen, Henson, and Kubrick never let me down.

I did spot Life Aquatic at Target a couple times.

How deeply was George involved with those films though? IIRC, they got about a page each in that book on Lucas that came with the Definitive Collection Laserdisc box. I think Howard The Duck had a longer entry. 😉

And we’re back again to the matter or whether George still gives a crap or not. Maybe a multi disc set ala Brazil that included the awful happy ending tv cut?
