Well, it’s legal in the state of Nevada.
Well, it’s legal in the state of Nevada.
It’s like those ants that form into a ball to cross a body of water…
They really should have given Billy Dee Williams a shot at the role. He was Harvey Dent in the first film after all.
Where’s Gary Kurtz when you really need him?
Corporate greed was responsible for ROTJ?
Why were the Ewoks even there? Or the aliens in Jabba’s palace? To sell toys of course. Lucas abandoned all ideas of creativity when the toy sales were overshadowing ticket sales. That’s why Han Solo survived at the end of Jedi, because no one would buy toys of a dead character.
Pretty sure Darth Vader action figure sales were not affected. 😉
R1 being “saved” is up for debate as we’ll likely never see that alternate footage.
A good producer should have dealt with these problems months ago. Now they have a PR mess to clean up, because this movie is already being perceived as damaged goods.
A drastic decision should have been made months ago then.
Han not being portrayed right is the best of reasons to split but the worse problem the film could have had.
And it took the bosses at Lucasfilm five months to realize this? When the heck did they decide to start watching the footage?
It’s still going to be messy determining who gets a director credit at the end of the day. Lord and Miller might even pull a Alan Smithee, or whatever the pseudonym is for disgruntled directors is these days.
This whole mess is going to have an effect on who sits in the director’s chair for future SW films.
As none of us has seen what they actually shot, that’s presuming an awful lot. And a change this late in production is almost unprecedented.
Who can save the film now? Opie Wan Kenobi, that’s who! 😉

Wonder if we’ll get the director’s side of things eventually, unless they signed a NDA that covers this scenario.
I think it’s too soon for prognostications of doom.
I wonder if J.J.'s phone is ringing right now.
Wow! Bad news travels fast. Disney is going to have a hard time putting a positive spin on this one. How many months were left in the shoot? There could even be a Director’s guild dispute over how much of the finished film was directed by whom.\
Who would even want the burden of stepping into a movie five months into production?
IIRC, Batman TAS was edited on video, so they’d have to locate all the film elements and rescan them. It might get more tricky if any digital effects were used to fix animation mistakes not caught until the footage came back from overseas.
There were a couple episodes where the you could see an amazing amount of dust dancing on the cels as they were photographed. That’s going to be even more noticeable in HD. I can’t imagine there’s any way to clean that up without doing more harm than good.
Wasn’t sure where else to post this, but Batman Mask Of The Phantasm is finally coming out on Blu Ray!

Ouch! That’s an impressive poster collection to lose. 😦
George has never made a R rated film. THX was rated with the now defunct GP rating back in 1971, which was replaced by PG a few years later. The 1978 reissue of THX received a PG.
Only the 2004 revised version got an R. That has more to do with the MPAA’s modern hangups than George’s intentions.
That was perfect shot of Vir to use. Although if you know the context, it’s a bit macabre.
In a 100 years from now, audiences will be able to experience the STAR WARS movies in THIS kind of thing:
Close, but no cigar. 😉

He did do some pre-visualization on Episode III though.
Working again for me as well. Yay!
Didn’t Disney get their hands on Indy too? And I presume Spielberg is still going to direct the next film.
That’s a bit harsh. One can be unaware of what version they’re watching without being a moron.
Oh good, I’m not crazy then.
