Did you spot something familiar in First Men In The Moon? 😉
And where did you get a copy of the Felix The Cat movie?
Merry Christmas is trending on twitter and the pumpkins have barely gone cold. My Halloween decorations are going back up in protest! 😉
Can’t wait for next Halloween!

And all this time I thought the Soviets had nothing of value to offer the world. . . .
Some visually stunning science fiction films have come out of Soviet cinema. Roger Corman would buy some of them up and shoot his own live action to go with the Russian FX.
And there’s a wolf who’s been chasing a rabbit almost as long as Wile E. Coyote has been chasing that Road Runner.

Ye gods! I never thought about that.
“If you haven’t been probed by these two, then you haven’t been probed.”
Seriously?
I live in a gated community surrounded by strawberry fields. Some people just go straight by my house even though I have a pumpkin and decorations in the window. Don’t know if it’s because I’m on a corner or what. Turnout could be light or heavy depending on the year. Many years ago, we got so swamped we ran out of candy and my Mom started giving out my Dad’s mini microwave popcorn bags and the kids loved that. Not sure they even make snack size popcorn bags anymore?
For the first time since 2008, I tried getting back into the seasonal swing of things last year, but got home a bit late and only got two kids. Two houses down the street went all out with the haunted house bit and that was like a kid vacuum. Only saw one of those setting up again yesterday, so might explain why I saw more kids this year.
I think I was the only one giving out candy on my end of the street this year.
The idea of commuting to trick or treat in a strange neighborhood is weird to me. I know people have been doing it for years, but still weird.
Got so much trick or treater traffic this year I’ve barely been able to sit down. Good thing it’s past 8 now and a school night, as the candy is almost gone.
Maybe it’s time to fight dirty.
Some of those '33 Kong covers aren’t bad at all!
The '76 ones at least use some elements of the original poster art.
I thought that last one that totally spoils the ending actually said LGBT King Kong. I don’t think the pictures on the back are from the movie?
And again Carlo Rambaldi gets credit for the effects when his giant mechanical monkey barely worked at all and is in only in a few shots of the movie. It’s a wonder if Rick Baker never sued over that.
So was marching him through a crowded parking garage where any idiot could take a shot at him.
They thought he had assassinated the President of the United States. They probably weren’t too worried about protecting him too much.
They would be the dumbest people on earth if they weren’t too worried about protecting him.
Dead men don’t talk.

this is a clip from the 1977 Movie “Kentucky Fried Movie”. This skit is about a John F. Kennedy assassination board game.
Which covers all the conspiracy theories people believed in at the time and probably still do.

I dig it, but I miss the days when other parts of the world got different poster art. Since the prequels the only thing that changes is the text.
Why would they go back to a 35mm source when the last couple of Laserdisc releases were 70mm scans?
Have them not leave? and Palps repeat the command after a short awkward silence?
Or you could just add grumble-y dialogue as they get up and leave (something to the effect of “ugh, really? Again!? He always does this!”)
I like that idea. Since I don’t think we’ve ever heard them speak, the voices could come from anything.
What if Palpy escalates when they don’t initially leave? Leave us then Get lost! then Scram!
Geez, even Harry Mudd has to be dark and edgy now? Screw them. Next thing you know a Tribble is going to rip someone’s throat out like the killer rabbit in Holy Grail.
And how will they explain all of this not being on Harry’s criminal record in TOS?

It cuts both ways. We all wanted Star Wars toys in 1977, but Kenner couldn’t make them fast enough. No future generation of kids should have to suffer the Early Bird Certificate. 😉

Where’s Mayor McCheese when we really need him?
Since Frink jogged my memory, what do you guys think about a current events thread separate from Politics? Or did we have one that died a slow death and I missed it?
I’ve never even heard of it!

My money is on it being re-imagined as a movie someday.
Westworld (1973)
I don’t know who thought turning a brief part of The Simpsons episode Itchy & Scratchy Land into a full-length movie was a good idea, but this should have been better than it was. Yul Brenner was great though, and there’s a silly cheesy charm to much of it. Oh, and I didn’t realize the director of The Money Pit was a mediocre actor too.
6/10
You’ve obviously never seen Quark. 😉
Frozen.
It’s not my favorite Disney film. At all. It has its moments, but the plot begs for more backstory and explanation of early story contrivances regarding the Elsa character; the movie’s message of female empowerment does not speak to me personally; and the true villain of the story turns out to be rather ineffectual, and not in an amusing or comical way. The film is not actually about the villain at all, who is really more of a side character to the plot.
I wouldn’t mind the movie so much if I didn’t see that darn snowman everywhere I go. He’s been plastered on everything. A house down the street from me has an Olaf pumpkin this year. It’s terrifying.
I love it how someone who I’ve seen on livejournal who frequently posts about politics and is very conservative and apparently pro Trump is only talking about college football today.
