There are some questionable color grading decisions apparently carried over from the director’s cut that have been made with the Netflix version, which is the theatrical cut. (Based on comparisons with the old theatrical cut DVD from 2001.) No idea about the Amazon version.
TM2YC over at Fanres has been working on a proper preservation for some time. He’s also undoing the bad color decisions. I contributed my capture of the original VHS Hi-Fi mono to the project.
I’m sure with the non-Lego version it will be easier to tell. It’s a safe bet we’re seeing the Falcon before Han makes all those modifications.
Did we need the Brian Daley Solo novels in that long stretch between SW and ESB? We can do with some fun in the GFFA without all the heavy Jedi vs. Sith stuff once in a while.

Why does Rey have a memory of crying watching a ship leave Jakku when she was little? Either the next film ignores this completely or there’s more to tell about her family.
Clinging to the hope someone is coming back to get you after so many years is desperation. Clinging to that hope when you know for certain that someone is actually dead is delusional. I don’t think Rey was delusional.
Holes in the hatch would probably let in debris in the heat of a battle. How many open air cockpit jet fighters have you ever seen? 😉

Okay, real talk.
When did TIE Fighters become ships with air inside? Is this just a TFA thing or is the old pilot dependency thing non-movie level canon? If so why do the FO pilots still have the mask with a hose attached?
I always thought it was just an extra level of protection for the pilot in case of a hull breach. (And make them as faceless and emotionless as stormtroopers.) They did design oxygen masks for the rebel pilots in the original film, but were nixed so the good guys’ faces could be seen.
On a side note, I think the old Marvel comic drew Vader with a life support hose while flying his fighter at least once. No evidence he ever had one in the film, AFAIK.

I guess it depends how you define rip-off. I’d say, not really, that falls more into general “inspired by,” but then again so does Battle Beyond the Stars.
Roger Corman got a lot of mileage out of recycling the FX and the score. It would be a interesting experiment to make a low budget space movie using that footage again and make it look like some lost film from the 80’s.

Technically we don’t know at the end of ROTJ that the Empire has fallen or that there will be a New Republic. That’s actually established in the crawl of TFA.
But that’s a good assumption to make, based on the celebratory atmosphere on multiple planets, including the capitol world.

Those constant slow zooms into shots of people talking in the prequels drives me nuts. It’s more like a tv show not a movie when he does that.
