Also possible it’s difficult to breathe in the commander version and the guys playing regular troopers needed to be able to run around without passing out on the set?

The General Veers scene may have been shot at a different time than the scenes of troopers invading Echo Base.

You didn’t have JFK or Reagan calling Soviet leaders childish and silly names on twitter back then though.

I have noticed recently basic cable is getting away with showing people humping in a way the MPAA used to threaten to slap the dreaded NC-17 on movies for. At least on TNT at night.
I hear shit and asshole used on basic cable shows frequently now. FX has gotten away with a few F-bombs late at night. It’s kind of amusing that the feature films they show have been edited for such things.

I guess V-Chips don’t work on streaming, not that anyone ever used the darn things in the first place. 😉

It’s not just for my daughter or my wife. It’s for me. I don’t appreciate the gratuitousness of some content being unnecessarily adult. I don’t like Veep swearing like it’s going out of style just because. I don’t like characters in a Star Trek show repeatedly saying “fuck” because it’s edgy and no one says they can’t. They are so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they don’t stop to think if they should.

I mean, they could at least put a MPAA rating info or whatever on the card for a show or movie.

 
I like that OTA TV broadcast content is censored to a degree. Creativity be damned. You don’t need to be vulgar or lewd to show creativity in your writing. Censorship does not inherently stifle creative thought.

Indeed! It was more fun when they slipped things past the censors. 😉

I’m pretty fond of the Alan Dean Foster adaptations of the animated TOS. I ate those up as a kid. He expanded beautifully on what were 22 minute teleplays into full novels. There have been many cover variations over the years.

Lando’s personal ship post ROTJ, the Lady Luck is very posh indeed. (You could walk around the interior in Jedi Outcast) I think it’s the only spaceship I’ve seen with carpeting outside of Star Trek!

I don’t think it’s too fair a comparison. This is after all the Falcon when it was Lando’s ship. And it makes a lot of sense that a ship belonging to a guy who owned a place that looked like this, would own a ship that looked like the EW picture above, as opposed to the ANH screenshot (which is more appropriate for two smugglers less concerned about aesthetics).

We haven’t really gotten that good of an idea what the rich and classy looked like in SW, apart from the PT. After all the OT mostly focused on military bases and backwater places like Tatooine. The closes we got was Cloud City, which was very shiny and elegant. But even that was referred to as a “small mining operation.”

We just saw a planet of filthy rich people in TLJ. Classy is up for debate. 😉

Never mind that the first ship interior we ever saw in Star Wars was pretty antiseptic looking. 😉

We’re seeing a factory fresh freighter here. By the OT the Falcon is that car with a faded dusty interior, with big cracks in the dashboard and holes where stereo speakers used to be.

How many people would know what Finn looks like without his helmet on sight? We’ve never seen Phasma with hers off. Her dialog with Finn in TFA implies it’s an infraction just to take it off while on duty.
Finn is famous within the Resistance. The FO may have even denied a trooper could ever defect. That trooper in the last movie probably knew Finn personally.

Trumpy will simply say he’s too busy to see them anyway and go have a photo op with the Olympic curling team or something.

I think it was BB-8 wearing a wastebasket that tipped 9E off, not the stolen uniforms.
