*cough* Should say "up to" here.
And it works out to about 4.4GiB and 8.0GiB respectively.
I stand corrected.

There is a BIG difference between DVD and Blu-ray (450i/p compared to 720p/1080p). Granted, it helps that you have a 50 to 65 inch HDTV (or bigger), as Sorcerer is kinda correct at least when it comes to smaller screen sizes (30" and smaller).
I believe Choice Magazine determined that 42" is the smallest TV where BluRay makes a noticabe difference at a comfortable distance. It also depends on the quality of the TV; I've seen massive TVs on display at electronics store that are playing DVDs, are connected by composite (not even component) via a splitter/switcher, and look absolutely amazing. I specifically look for signs of MPEG artifacts, pixelation and such, and have to look really close at good quality TVs to notice anything like that.
In contrast, I see plenty of MPEG artifacts on good signals of HD digital TV broadcasts. Maybe the TVs are not as good, or maybe it's the encoding variant.
As a film major, maybe I'm just jaded, but on my 22" computer screen I can easily tell the difference between a dvd image, a 720p image, and a 1080p image. *shrug* It also depends on the blu ray quality- just because something is in HD doesn't mean it's full quality. The Terminator 1 blu ray is basically an upscaled dvd image, whereas the Baraka Blu Ray is a gorgeous full quality image, breathtaking even on a 720p tv.
Most dvd burners now can. If yours doesn't, you can get one for 20 or 30 dollars.
Greetings, Ming! It's great to know there's such a dedicated group working to shoot stuff. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
Wow, that's nice looking. Beautiful.
I hope you can all get through this hard time as smoothly as can be expected. Take all the time you need off.
You have my deepest sympathies.
Well, isn't selling fan edits illegal? Can't you just point the authorities in his direction, without worrying about your own stuff because you don't sell it? Or is that a chance nobody wants to take?

Don't forget, unless your monitor is calibrated then it will look different when viewed on a PC.
Care to elaborate on that?
Computer monitors are usually calibrated to make text readable, while TVs are calibrated for video. White balances can be off, colors more dull, etc.
Get a better computer monitor. :D And calibrate it so it looks right.

The one thing that has bugged me since the EU and prequels established "Darth" as a title, not a name: editing out Obi-Wan's constant use of it during the final duel and replacing it with "Vader." To me, at least, it's a glaring continuity error, and annoying even in context with the other two original movies, as everyone uses "Vader" when not using his full title.
It always seemed to me like a sarcastic use of the title, almost as if he is saying, hey, "Darth", look where that got you.
That would actually work quite well, it being all about the Empire striking back and all.
If someone were to do a bird's-eye view of Cloud City, that would look really cool. Have some clouds floating by. :D
The cave? On Dagobah? I'd say it's necessary. It shows that Luke's greatest fear is to become Darth Vader himself. Without that knowledge, we just have Luke versus the bad guy. That doesn't matter in Family Guy, so they didn't bother.
Happy Christmas and Holidays to you as well, Ady! Thanks for the present! The color correction is incredible!

So I saw Star Wars in Concert last night and noticed something interesting. Early in the performance a clip was shown from Obi-Wan vs Vader in ANH, and the lightsabers had clearly been repainted. However, throughout the rest of the performance there were similar clips shown, including more Obi-Wan vs Vader, without any repainted effects. Might it be reasonable to suspect that the clips in question were from the WIP BluRays?
Or SW:R? :P

Adywan,
24-inch Dell 1920x1200 resolution flat-panel
And thus beautiful good fortune smiles upon this project. Thank you Jacen, for your incredible offer.
Now to see if Ady takes it.
Nice- just read the thread. Hope it works out well.
I saw the message from the facebook ESB:R group- is there any truth to the statement about people helping you to film new Hoth stuff? If so, cool.
Hope your mother gets better soon. I wish you happy thoughts and warm feelings.

Also, yet another extraneous suggestion: how would it look to give the Executor a underbelly bay mimicking the regular SDs, but one big enough to house a SD (with the idea that the Executor could take in an SD, dry dock it and repair it).
On that note, if something is done to that degree, how cool would it be to see an SD leaving said underbelly hanger bay?
Wow, that idea is really cool. It may border on prequel-esque over-visualization, but I'd love to see it, even in concept.

could some of the snow storm scenes from the latest Star Trek movie be useful for some ESB:R scenes?
Haha. Blasphemy!
As a Trekkie, I find that suggestion quite amusing. :P
As I like both I think they should go hand in hand :)
Works for me. : ) Just don't let the crazies find out.
Edit: Yeah, makes sense- there's such a time gap between the movies it probably wouldn't match much, if at all. If we are thinking Trek snow storms, I'd throw out the blu ray of Trek VI- The Undiscovered Country. That has a section on an ice planet, which ironically is featured in the deleted scenes of the new movie. Even that might not be much help, since the actual snow footage is fairly short.

Welcome aboard savmagoett. Interesting 1st post there.
For the sake of 'bay size' comparisons etc., here's another look at Adywan's new version -
....and how ROTJ's shuttle exit from the smaller front 'bay' looks -
As far as when we come to 'ROTJ:Revisited', Adywan has indicated that Vader's shuttle may instead seem to have exited from his Executor ship rather than 'some other' Stardestroyer, so we may not see the above shots in their current form anyway....
I'm curious, are all the Stardestroyers seen in ANH, ESB, and ROTJ meant to be exactly the same size?
I'm sure the more analytical of us can do better than I, but my guess is that it depends on what class they are.
Are the SDs in the OT mostly Imperial or ImpII Class? Or are there some bigger/smaller ones excluding the SSDs?
Nvmd, sniped by Ady. :P
