I prefer the 'gloomy', densely-packed treeline/root system that seems to make up Dagobah, as shown in the background of the 'wider, more open' views such as this one and when Luke has just crashed.

how about this?

More ESB like ;)

I like it. I also have no idea how you put together those concept pics, because the detail is astounding.

Yeah, I can see that- the average viewer wouldn't want all the details anyway. The running joke whenever we watch the thing is "and they waited some more... and some more..." But  even though overly wordy, it does illustrate why exactly the Sith might want some revenge.

Edit: I uploaded the HD version since there seemed to be interest in the concept in general. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6O1K9FKlx0

Edit edit: Oh, I forgot that the HD version is also the most recent, with slight additions to aid people who have never seen Star Wars before (happens near me more often than naught), since Lucas didn't really explain much until the original trilogy. The video is still processing, so it isn't in HD yet as of 2:25 am EST. HD is working now.

Revenge is personal.

All we ever heard in the films is that the Jedi and Sith don't like each other. Is simply killing each other revenge? Revenge for what?

I don't buy "self defense" either, he could've used force pushes or mindtricks. No need to choke people. Luke isn't bound by the same dogmatic rules as the old Jedi anymore, he kind of just does what makes sense to him.

We know the Sith had the Jedi killed, taking revenge for that makes sense.

It is never mentioned in the films why the Sith disappeared, so why would it be revenge?

Not the HD version, I apologize. EU, yes I know, but it does answer those questions. Made that in my free time a few years back. Right. DVD Cover thread.

Edit: HD version is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6O1K9FKlx0

We had a big "should it have been Revenge of the Jedi & Return of the Sith?" discussion a while back (I think it was the ESB/ROTJ wishlist thread).

Personally, if Luke can forcechoke guards and slice anyone who gets in his way with his lightsaber, I don't see why he wouldn't be able to take revenge. Anakin (no longer Vader) sure takes revenge on Palpatine.

There wasn't any revenging going on in episode 3 anyway. The Sith just returned "with a bang".

Many here thought the title change was to drastic though, so we just left it there.

K, the great purge much? Mmm?

Yeah, I know- I was referring to the uses of a 1440 by 1080 resolution if "everything" is now made in widescreen 1080p HD. : ) The option seems to be there from what I see for the types of HD cameras Ady pointed out as well as the few older movies/tv shows that have been transferred in HD in a 4:3 format.

The specs do include the option of 1440x1080 which could be flagged as anamorphic, but I have yet to see any disc use this.

And why would they? Anamorphic on DVD serves to increase the resolution of a widescreen image in what is an inherent 4:3 frame, so that a widescreen image only has to be expanded once (horizontally) instead of twice. But using 1440 x 1080 frame on Blu-ray would be a reduction in image definition, so why would anyone use that?

Just to follow up on that question, I'd imagine it's for stuff like Star Trek: Remastered- HD 4:3 images.

As far as I know, anamorphic only applies when a widescreen dvd is stretched vertically onto the 4:3 frame so it can have the maximum possible resolution on widescreen tvs. Since a blu-ray image has full 1080p resolution, no stretching is required at all. Therefore the term "anamorphic" has no relevance.

The red R2... I like it.  It fixes a continuity error and, IMO, was so well done that as I was watching I actually had to stop and ask myself 'was that droid always there?' (and this from someone who's seen ANH well over 100 times).

As for the added music to the briefing room... love it.  In fact, I find it's the best addition out of all the added music (very subtle and, like ImpFighter said, makes the scene much more ominous).

I agree on both accounts. While the Battle of the Heroes music has always been 50/50 with me, I love the briefing room music. It adds an indirect gloom to the meeting that was there, but not as prominently. And the tremors in the strings while Vader is choking Motti are absolutely perfect.
