Yeah, theoretically after Bane, only two Sith existed at the same time. The odd thing is that the rule was created to conceal the Sith from the Jedi. Yoda therefore should not know about it. Lucas might have stuck that tidbit in for the fans, but in doing so he messed with his own history.

In The MagFan edit of TPM, he modified that scene so Yoda says, "there are only always two- no less." Before, he said, "there are always two, no more, no less." This fixes that continuity error.

And then, if we really want to be confused, we can look at all the apprentices, from Vader's in the new SW game, to the numerous Sith found in SW novels and stories. We can only assume that after the Sith took back the galaxy in RotS, they decided that the rule of two was no longer necessary.

Seems to me that the Republic/Jedi were in the business of 'purging' threats... maybe the Sith deseved their revenge.

Yeah, they seem to have done a lot of that. Probably got a bit paranoid after the first conflicts. As much as this was derived from the bad dialogue of the prequels, maybe Anakin wasn't so far from the truth when he said the Jedi had grown arrogant. (Or whoever said it. I feel like a bad fan at the moment.)

I can't watch videos at work - any chance of posting the text here as I'd love to read it.

Sure.

Over 25,000 years ago, hyperspace travel became widespread. This allowed for galactic expansion and exploration. A Galactic Republic was formed, a long with the Jedi Order assemblies.

Soon after, the First Great Schism between followers of the dark and the light side of the Force occurred. After nearly a century of conflict, the dark-siders were driven off into the wilds of the galaxy.

Over a period of 20,000 years, the Republic regained a sense of security. The dark-siders were lost from memory.

Two hyperspace mappers, Gav and Jori Daragon, made a blind jump into hyperspace. They emerged deep in the territory of the Sith, a race which had been conquered by the dark-siders after their ancient retreat.

While escaping, they unwittingly led the Sith back to the civilized galaxy. The Great Hyperspace War erupted.

Although strained to its limits, the Republic, along with the help of the Jedi, fended off the invaders and returned to peace.

The Sith recuperated for 1,000 years.

Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma, both Jedi Knights, fell to the dark side and became Dark Lords of the Sith race. Allied with the Mandalorians, they decided that it was time for the Sith to attack in full force.

The Great Sith War had begun.

Wave upon wave of Sith ships launched themselves into Republic space. The Jedi leaped into action, only to be overwhelmed by the enemy. Hundreds of thousands of Republic citizens lost their lives in the destruction.

Ossus, a Jedi planet, was completely obliterated.

Finally a massive counterstrike by the Republic defeated the Sith.

They were wiped out.

After 2,000 years of peace and prosperity, a rogue Jedi discovered the teachings of the Sith and founded a new Sith order.

Fearing a return to the conflict of past ages, the Jedi purged the galaxy of the new threat.

A single Sith Lord, Darth Bane, survived the purge and went underground. He set a rule of two to conceal the Sith: there would always be two Sith- a master and an apprentice. He passed the name Darth on to his successors.

The Sith Order lived on, unbeknownst to the Jedi or the Republic.

The Sith waited patiently.

For they knew that the time would come when they could return, and finally obtain their revenge.

Wow, that IS a lot of text, especially when laid out like that. To everyone, I would definitely recommend watching the HD version, if you have not done so. The quality on youtube is relatively horrendous.

And yes, Hotrod, that is the basic summary. However, I personally thought the details were interesting. The fact that the Mandalorians assisted the Sith helps to lead to their reputation as ruthless sellouts who join the side with the most benefits. This is mirrored to a point in AotC, with Jango. And it is nice to know how the Sith went into hiding, with Darth Bane and all.

As for there being a "story", I guess it's all your point of view. I hadn't really thought of it that way, but it's one way of looking at it.

alteration of Fett's voice and Skywalker's scream at the end of the special edition were the only real beefs I had with the special editions.

You are aware that in the 2004 DVDs the scream has been removed, right? Ady shouldn't need to worry about that particular detail.

On the issue of Boba's voice, I prefer Boba's new voice only because the old voice makes him sound like a scowling old man. It's only been 20-30 years or so since he was a young kid in Episode II. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents.

QFT. Having gotten so used to the new voice, it sounds bizarre to me to hear the old one.

I just browsed through all the comparison pictures in doubleofive's sig, and I am blown away. Unfortunately, I don't have the best internet connection, and therefore I have no way to get a copy. Would anyone be willing to send, or PIF a dual-layer NTSC copy to me? I'm quite willing to pass it on to others. PM me if so. Thanks!

Star Wars Saga Prequel - EU
Time

I’ve always been a big EU fan, and I was aware that a lot of stuff had happened before the original trilogy. When the prequels came around, I was interested by Lucas’s general lack of explanation as to what the background was for the “revenge” of the Sith. He has Maul discuss “revenge” with Sideous in TPM, but the viewer is never told what the revenge is for. I sat down for a few hours a while back and looked up the actual history, according to the EU. The result is a short, text-based prequel, explaining the events leading up to the prequel trilogy.

I know it might be a bit tedious to read a lot of text, but I did my best to time it all to the opening music of RotJ to keep it interesting. I made two versions:

A full, HD version: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=754Y5YRQ

and a smaller, low-quality version, with larger text: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wA5fU3Wo2c

All comments are appreciated. I thought this would be the place, if any, to see what people thought. I’ve always thought of this vid as being placed directly before the “A long time ago…” in TPM (or related fan film).

Thanks for watching.

Star Wars DVD Covers
Time
I've been a lurker for a week or so now, and have searched this forum and linked sites for covers to MangoliaFan's prequel edits. However, all the links in this thread seem to be old and dead. Grisan's site also seems to be somewhat up, but none of the folders will open. Does anyone have copies of those covers? It would be great to have some nice looking DVD cases for those. Thanks!
