Maybe when ROTJ:R is far enough along, Ady could make a side trip to re-do that trailer with his own clips. :-)

Now there's a really cool idea. Wait until you have footage from all 3, then do a full "Original Trilogy Revisited" trailer. Maybe even throw in some of that great cg work to update the already semi-outdated looking trailer effects. That would be a fine trailer indeed.

Yeah, sorry. I did mean to add something on-topic to my previous post, but seem to have forgotten.

I am definitely looking forward to the new trailer. Sometimes trailers are better than the final movie- I know that both the trailer and the final product will be fantastic. :D

You couldn't be more wrong. Hayden can't act to save his life. Does he even know what method acting is? I doubt it.

The stiff has one look on his face for every emotion....is his character mad? Que the "Hayden Stare". Is his character happy? Que the "Hayden Stare".

I've seen no name off brodway actors with way more talent than Mr. Woodie.

You want to know the mark of a good actor? No matter how crappy the script, a good actor can pull it off, Hayden can't.

As much as I don't like his acting in the prequels, see "My life as a house". He actually does a great job as a teenager in that movie. Which is exactly why he shouldn't have been cast in the prequels- he's a good actor in certain roles, which nobody seems to have figured out, so they keep putting him in bad ones.

As for acting vs dialogue, take a look at Natalie Portman- she's a great actor, but can you tell from the prequels? No. Liam Neeson did a good job with what he had, as did Ewan McGregor, but when you have dialogue as horrendous as those in the love scenes, it's hard to do anything good with them. Even so, Hayden shouldn't have been Anakin.

Best not to tempt fate by shouting our love for the Revisited edits from the rooftops, so to speak.

Well, it's a little late on my end. :P My distribution/ranting quotia of IV is now up to 6 copies in 2 weeks, not including a LOT of showing around those Bespin comparison stills. Everyone is blown away when they see them. I think as long as we keep it grassroots, and avoid full-scale publicity, letting people know about it is a good thing.

i do want to try and use the Bespin menu scene but not the others. The Hoth one has the AT-AT's at 2 different scales as it pans and doesn't look right, plus the one AT-AT has the guns from the shot it was taken from of the closer AT-AT still present.

That was my thought when I took a look at the youtube video (dang slow internet- took that long to load). The Dagobah sequence seems too fast, and there are already shots covering Luke's landing in the movie. With the Bespin sequence, there's that great long shot of the Falcon and the escorts, which could definitely be used as there was never a shot like that in the original.

And the fact that this discussion even exists is sad. ;)

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

I actually like the new layer break, since the old one resulted in complete silence while the disk switched layers, then a huge ZHWOOOO as the Falcon shot overhead in Hyperspace. It always made us jump, but the new one doesn't have that issue. In its place, the new (NTSC) break seems to be a split second into the shot, instead of between the two, resulting in an odd pause as opposed to the usual scene gap. :P Eh, what can you do.

IIRC, the "Terminate her immediately" layer break was the way the 2004 dvd did it, and right after there is the shot of the Falcon in hyperspace. When I was messing with the layer break settings, it gave me two options for where to place the break- I ignored them both and used the file defaults, but the two options were the two layer breaks being discussed. It is possible that though the default is the Vader/Falcon break, some people's settings resulted in the break being the Tarkin one. Does that all make sense? Or am I reaching a wrong conclusion?

o_o When reading through the thread, there are times when I am totally blown away. One of them was about 30 seconds ago. Going from the wistful discussion about redoing those shots to seeing what at first I assumed to be a beautiful mockup of them was remarkable enough, When I realized Ady had posted them, it stunned me. Those shots look absolutely gorgeous. Amazing job. I can't believe the 2004 dvds looked so bad.

My gratitude also goes out to Siliconmaster for the assist. I'm going to be sending this out to a few friends as soon as I can get my hands on a DVD drive that will burn DL.

Glad you enjoyed it. Out of pure chance and my eagerness to show everyone Revisited, I've probably distributed 6 copies of it in the past 3 weeks alone. :D I love this movie.

I'm in the "lungs were burned badly" crowd. I never had a problem understanding the life support suit. As previously stated, the issue does come up of why Anakin and Obi-Wan weren't completely fried shortly into the battle, but all Lucasisms aside, I can actually buy that they were using the force to protect themselves, along with the shields on the miner droid/platform. Anakin gets 3 limbs cut off, goes into shock, his focus drops, and he goes up in flames. Seems pretty straightforward to me. It would be fun to see more of Vader being badass, instead of mopey and depressed. He should use his anger for his own power, not stand there and cry in despair. Lucas may have had the general right idea, but somewhere between his mind and the screen things got more than a little muddled.

I think its the carbon chamber scene when Luke jumps down and then you can see his head bob back up.

Indeed. Thanks for the clarification, Ady.

When I was a kid, I had the Special Edition Trilogy VHS box set, with the little commentary thing at the beginning of each movie, and as such, the biggest error I remember about Empire was the transparant Snowspeeder cockpits, because they showed a bunch of comparison shots of that gaffe during the commentary.

Oh man- I totally forgot about that- we had the same box set. I remember that segment- they made a big deal about how they fixed all that- did they just do a half-complete job?

Haha. I consider myself well-versed in all aspects (except comics and smaller novels) of the EU and core canon. 75+ Star Wars books. W00t. And no real trouble keeping all the info straight. :D

I just hosted a Star Wars marathon, and when we watched episode V I kept in mind a lot of the changes discussed here. It was incredibly amusing to see glitches and bloopers that I had never noticed before: Luke's bobbing head, the AT-AT issues, etc. And of course the coloring. Makes me all the more eager for V Revisited. : )

I can confirm that the CGI yoda was made to have the ear wobble. I remember watching the same documentary, and they said that the artists originally made the CGI character perfect, the wobble fixed, expressions, etc. However, when they watched the scenes, it just didn't look like Yoda. They had the artists go back and add in the wobble so it looked more like the Yoda everyone knows. I say keep it in the movie. :D

At first I wasn't sure about the Yoda changes, based on a quick glance at the youtube version. Then I downloaded the avi file and watched it a few times. In the end I agree with the others that it is a very nice idea, and it's almost there. There are just a few spots that look more photoshopped than natural. Fix those and I think it will work fine.
