I like the idea of seeing the flaps open on the snowspeeders in the cockpit shots. not sure if i would be able to do it or not but it looks like i need to build something else now. :)

Now is something that can be done with 3d. :D

Haha. Knowing Ady, he'd be much happier building an entire snowspeeder and running it on cables than doing it in 3d. :)

Reimagining?

Epicification?

I'd say it's a draw between these two :P

I'd prefer "An Adywan Extravabonanza" myself. I love that word.

I throw my hat in the ring (to promote my word for the week) with An Adywan De-Schlimmbesserungerisation.

And what an awesome word of the week it is! :D

It pains me not being able to donate anything to the cause. Curse my family's need for food and shelter!

Hopefully I can help at least a little before you have everything. I'd feel like a leech if I get all this Star Warsy enjoyment without having helped at all.

and Vaderios, you better keep any Transformers related comments sufficiantly cryptic; if you spoil any plot for me I'm gonna force-kick you, just like in that animated ROTJ image!  ;)

Will someone link me to the revised Adywan edits?

I just finished the weeklong download of the dvd9 avchd version and, well, quite a few of the edits listed on page one simply aren't there.

bleeding arm; lucas' 3d jaba scene still there; no medal for chewie; spindly light sabers in DV/OWK final duel... etc.

It almost seems that this is the 2004 lucas edit version with a color correction?

With 290 pages to search, some help understanding this would be appreciated.

You may be exactly right- Ady released a set of color corrected HD SE cuts. Those have no changes, but are merely color corrected, which is what it sounds like you have. I would attempt to redirect to a correct link, but these guys can do it better than I can. :P

Really? You envisioned the Old Republic-era Jedi as a bunch of self-absorbed, hypocritical pricks? Out of touch with reality, cultish child indoctrination, tabula raza fallacies abound, legalism incarnate...you thought of all that from Obi-Wan's glowing recollection of the guardians of peace and justice of a golden age long now passed?

Hey, more power to ya; I'm not saying you couldn't have, only that that's setting the bar remarkably low. I always envisioned the Jedi as selfless, compassionate characters who wore their humanity on their shoulders and genuinely cared about helping people, not the disingenuous Pharisees we ended up with in the PT.

[still somewhat offtopic, but I wanted to quickly respond to this] What's funny is that although I agree with you, I was under the impression that it was purposeful- the Jedi used to be better, but had become the way they are portrayed in the prequel trilogy, leading to their downfall. *shrug*

ChainsawAsh, it wouldnt make sense "then perhaps she will" since Leia shouldnt be force sesitive...

Goddammit, I hate this idea.  The great thing about the Force in Star Wars was that it felt like anyone could be a Jedi if they had the right amount of dedication, while some people were just "gifted" and already had a great deal of sensitivity to the Force without any training (like Anakin should have, going by Obi-Wan's comments in Star Wars).  The idea that your parents had to be "Force-sensitive" for you to have any chance at being a Jedi ... ugh, it just makes me think of midi-chlorians all over again.

I had always thought of it as a (bear with me here) Harry Potter-esque style of special-ability inheritance. It is possible for those with non-Jedi parents to have greater force abilities, just as it is possible for children of Jedi to lack those same abilities. However, it is more likely that if one parent has forece abilities that the children will share them as well. Hence the line "The force runs strong in your family." For this reason I never saw a problem with either school of thought.

Bare in mind that this is still just a test shot and Adywan may decide to take another route with this, but here's what I've come up with to show a sample of what might be possible in helping with this scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wseA4UHgS8Y

The AT-AT model is one I downloaded from Sci-Fi:3D just to help add a focal point to this shot, the scale of the walkers is probably out, but you get the idea, also it isn't walking, they're having a rest after a busy day of shooting rebels !

Awesome!  Yes!  You can do this in 720p, right?

Looks really cool! Only thing that comes to mind is that the mountains in the background are moving too fast. In the original shot it's the ground moving, not both. If the mountains move, they appear smaller and closer.

Here's an old anim I did in Vue 6 of a snowscape, it's not as fast as the ones in TESB, but something like this with better lighting and mountains might be possible !?

o_o That is really cool! Might just be the way to save that shot!
