General Star Wars <strong>Random Thoughts</strong> Thread
Time

What do you guys think about the star wars fandom in general right now.

I love the members of this website but if you go elsewhere specifically YouTube its just a complete dumpster fire.

Its either clickbait from Mike Zeroh, #StarWarsDead, or “Disney/Kathleen Kennedy should be burned alive” videos. Besides the Vader fan film to me its all pretty embarrassing…

Ideas for &quot;Fanedit Documentary&quot;
Time

I’ve been thinking about making a YouTube video documenting the history, theory, and passion behind Star Wars Fanediting.
It will document the origins from the Phantom Editor until now. How fan editing has evolved and the community that has been built around it. I want to showcase the insane amount of passion and hardwork from edits like “Star Wars Revisited” and “Harmy’s Despecialized”, while also going over the more creative projects like Star Wars Heavy ect. I also want to feature clips from fanedits and maybe some of the commentary and interviews from creators. What I love about fan editing the most is how a movie can be completely altered. How a stories presentation and thematic ideas can be changed or enhanced. It’s so much more of a creative process than people think it is. It’s not just about deleting lines from Jar Jar Binks. My love for this community is why I’m doing this. Right now I’m in the very early stages of pre-production with only a rough script and ideas and concepts. This is a thread for me to share my ideas and for you guys to give any suggestions and input. I’ve been lookin forward to making this for a long time. 😃

The edit is in progress, and probably won’t be released for quite some time due to the number of edit’s I’m still working on.

As for the TIE crash, I can see your sequence working, but you’d have to lose the scene of the female officer informing Hux of the impending crash. I’m working on some ideas for that scene right now though, and it might be worth losing that bit.

JEDIT: Here’s a somewhat rough mockup of a much earlier concept - the First Order has visited the crash site before Finn wakes up and has left a probe droid behind:

What it really needs is a decent establishing shot of the droid.

Force Awakens Restructured V3 is amazing. HAL 9000 gives you a TON of credit in the commentary. I just need to know, how did you get the time stamp off of the deleted scene with Leia!?

I removed the time stamp from the deleted scene where Leia talks to Snap Wexley and Korr Sella (NeverarGreat did a small part of it too) for TFA Restructured. I used Adobe After Effects to recreate the video hidden behind the time code piece by piece by using still images that were animated to move around and follow the background (and sometimes people and objects) that moved behind the time code. Some shots were easy with a simple background while others needed many layers of objects that had to be animated in various ways to recreate the hidden footage.

Extraordinary work, I should’ve double checked that it was you not Neverar lol

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **

I mean I would just really love to have some more of ady’s insight on what he thinks are the inferiorities of ROTJ (besides the Ewoks) even if he doesn’t plan on editing the scenes. Also I’m just wondering what everybody’s consensus is on Yub Nub vs Victory Celebration and if Ady has 100% decided what he’s going to do with that?

I just posted the BluRay compatible mkv version and the rest will follow as they finish encoding and being verified.

I think you’re right, Mala. And Sir Ridley did indeed deliver a fixed scar for two shots. If I hadn’t added that to the change list I prepped a while back, I’ll do so!

Is it posted to fanedit.info or something else? Btw you’re the best HAL

Don’t get all the hate for Ivan. All Youtubers use Patreon. I understand why some might consider it an ethical issue, but its out of our control. Drop it and get over it. He’s gonna be remembered as one of the greatest fan editors because of what he’s doing to TLJ.

What a damn shame for you to say that. You have zero idea of what your talking about and the ramifications of what this Ivan is doing. He is profiting off of Lucasfilm property. What don’t you understand about that. You are just going to concede with such a crucial topic just because you didn’t like TLJ. It’s just disgraceful.

Okay, I’ve added some distortion to the images, as well as some villainous dialogue implying that Kylo thinks these visions are from Vader.

I didn’t plan on using so much of the music, but it’s just so good I couldn’t help it.

Hey Guys I’m very new to this thread! This edit looks fantastic. I know it’s a work in progress but has a full version been released yet? Also I had an idea about the Poe/Finn crash. I think the TIE Fighter falling towards the surface of Jakku’s hard cut to Phasma and the officer is an awful pacing decision as it is just way too fast. It bothers me every time I see the film and I would rather have a fade to black then immediately cut to Finn waking up. To me it just would be an all around better editing choice. Idk what do you guys think?

Agreed. I like the idea of more alien pilots, sure, but we all know how smoothly the Wampa went…

That’s a very good point, but there are tons of rebel legion members helping out already for the Redwood Forest shoot, so ady would most likely not be making the masks himself. I could be wrong though, I would love to see what Adywan thinks.

  1. I know that you know L8wrtr so maybe consider working on editorial changes with the master himself!!!
  2. For the new scenes with ground troops/pilots add rebels that are alien species. (Rodians plz lol)
  3. Two continuity issues that will be really hard to fix would be Luke doesn’t have his saber when dragging Vader, when Vader throws his saber at Luke the blade is on the wrong side.
  4. Add U-wings as well as B-wings to Endor battle. As well as giant capital ship battles like we see at the beginning of ROTS. 😃

Hi Trooperman, I realize its been about a year since your last post and I’ll probably never get a reply but I keep hearing about your fan edits of Episodes 2 and 3 and I hear they are THE DEFINITIVE prequel fan edits. I was REALLY hoping if you or anyone else could inform me on how I could watch them because they’re not on fanedit.org or fanedit.info. Thanks!!!
