Ahsoka won’t be in this next season. That interview was posted in March of 2020 and they already shot season 2 by then.

That was Ashley Eckstein, Ashoka’s voice actress. She isn’t involved with season 2 at all, Ahsoka is being portrayed by Rosario Dawson. In another interview, Dawson said that “I’ll be very excited when it’s confirmed,” implying that she plays Ahsoka in the show, she just can’t announce it yet. Ahsoka is in the show, she just isn’t being played by the person who normally plays her.

No, I wasn’t talking about Eckstein. I AM talking about Rosario Dawson. Why would Ashley Eckstein pronounce a characters name incorrectly after playing her for 12 years? Dawson reposted an image online and people/news outlets started freaking out, that’s literally all we know. Nothing has been remotely confirmed by her or lucasfilm. In the interview I’m talking about titled “Star Wars: Rosario Dawson on Wanting to Play Ahsoka Tano”, she says ASHOKA instead of Ahsoka. Anyways I’ll guess we’re just gonna have to wait and see. 😃

I’m pretty sure you don’t know the whole story. It started out with 5 news outlets independently reporting that Rosario Dawson was going to play Ahsoka in the Mandalorian. That resulted in fans making art of Dawson as Ahsoka. Dawson reposted one of the images, and people just took that as further confirmation. The interview where she obviously talks around confirming that the rumors are true should really put aside all doubts.

Also, I’m not sure a typo in a transcript of an interview proves that she mispronounced it in the interview itself, so I wouldn’t take that either way.

Watch the video for yourself. She literally says ASHOKA out loud. If she’d been part of the production I find it hard to believe that she doesn’t know how to say her own character’s name correctly. I was wrong about the interview date though, its actually from October 2019.

But notice how in the interview she’s pushing for the fans to make this role happen. She’s not saying that she has the role. Listen to exactly what she says. “Internet, IF it happens, its because of you.” I don’t see how any of this is confirmation.

Ok so I don’t believe any of these casting rumours. Most of these news outlets are trying to get people to click. The Ahsoka rumor is 100% false, and nothing from Lucasfilm has actually confirmed the Boba Fett and Bo-Katan stuff.

Simply being able to kill the big bad guy is terribly unimaginative and un-meaningful as a victory for the character and for the Jedi as a whole.

Maybe we will learn about those ideals in the some upcoming pre-prequels in a galaxy long long long ago. That would be cool. I agree it would be a great direction to set aside the lightsaber.

Using the audience’s knowledge of Revenge of the Sith as a sort of ticking clock for this story was so incredibly genius. Filoni in general is an amazing storyteller. I’m about to rewatch rebels, that show gets a bad rep, but if you look deeper into what they were trying to do with the story, its phenomenal.

JJ abrams is basically trying to say that Rey uses the lessons she has learned from the legacy characters, and it is that which defines her. She rejects her palpatine lineage and chooses her own identity, which is what she’s been searching for since TFA. Unfortunately Abrams does not understand star wars nearly enough from a fundamental story perspective.

In my opinion Abrams really lacks vision and should never have been allowed to write, nor should have Chris Terrio. You hear things like "We’re really hard on ourselves and constantly saying - It’s not good enough - " I would much rather hear things from them like “wow we are really passionate about what we are trying to say”.

The worst part of the film for me is the Rey vs Palpatine stuff. If you compare it with how Luke defeats Palps there is absolutely no debate. The line alone “I am a jedi like my father before me”, coupled with the fact that he throws his lightsaber away is the ultimate victory over Palpatine. Luke chooses to reject killing both Palpatine and Vader. This is where Abrams shows such an elementary understanding of what George was trying to say in this moment.

Having Rey literally kill Palpatine with the same thing that Mace Windu does in ROTS is so utterly tragically inconsistent with George’s story I cannot even begin to comprehend what he was thinking. Rey literally is using violence to murder this man. Not even Anakin would have done this. “IT’S NOT THE JEDI WAY” -ROTS.

Now you can argue that Rey didn’t kill Palpatine, Palpatine killed himself. But having him die through such horrifying violence totally diminishes Luke throwing away the saber. Luke defeats Palpatine to the very core of who he is without having to lay a finger on him. Abrams totally muddles his own message here, and poses the question “well did Rey actually learn anything” more importantly, “did the audience learn anything?” What does this story have to offer me as a human being? Define my own destiny but make the same mistakes as the previous generation? Defeat evil with 2 lightsabers? Not only am I upset by this film, I believe it comes into conflict with everything George has tried to say over the years. I had fun watching this film, but in a way where I feel like it’s a joke that I don’t have to take very seriously.

This sounds fantastic. I agree with your episode choices for inclusion. I’ve been thinking about a similar idea for the rebels series. I want my brother to experience the Ahsoka and Vader fight properly, while combining that with the Twins Suns Episode as a sort of Epilogue to the Clone Wars series.

[SPOILER] My favorite moment was when Rex is given Order 66. He is shaking and crying, trying to resist killing his best friend, until he is ultimately overcome by the chip. My interpretation of that scene was that “Fives” was somehow connecting with him through the force, saving both him and Ahsoka. It was so beautiful.

This was truly a special Star Wars experience for me. I’m part of the clone wars generation of star wars fans. I saw the original animated film in theaters on my 8th birthday. That was my first star wars film on the big-screen. I’m so incredibly proud of this show. It was utterly spectacular. This series has done the prequel films so much justice I cannot even explain. I showed my brother the entire series this month and we finished it off by marathoning the last 4 episodes. The loveable characters become so deep and grow so much throughout the show, and to see the finale was something truly unprecendented. I couldn’t believe the depth of storytelling, the amazing sense of dread, and how much it all felt like a film. Thank you George, and thank you Dave Filoni.

After all the years of people loathing the prequels, this show solidifies for me that those stories deserve respect. This is timeless, and required viewing for any star wars fan.

Criterion tried to get their hands on THX-1138 but could only get the special edition version of that too. Also with the whole thing about JJ Abrams wanting the unaltered OT, they told him “its just not possible”. But c’mon JJ, you just directed 2 star wars films directly tied to the OT. He should’ve done more investigation and put more effort into changing things. He was just acting so nonchalant about the whole thing. I’m pissed, this is probably Fox’s fault where the rights are being held hostage, or its something as simple as Kathleen Kennedy wanting to respect George’s wishes by only showing the films the way he “wants people to remember them.” But we can argue about that for days. I saw this interview with Kathleen Kennedy on YouTube by some fan who asked her about the Unaltered OT, and she literally had no idea what he was talking about. I’ll see if I can find the link. I pray to god doubleofive’s article comes up at a board meeting in Lucasfilm.

Ok so this might be a dumb question, but is there any possible way to enhance the audio from ANH using AI. The dialogue for much of the film sounds like its coming out of a tin can. Particularly during the floating droid training scene when Luke says “You mean it controls your actions?”. I don’t know, it’s just always really bothered me.

I mean is this what this program can be used for? Or just music removal?

For the hands-on stuff you describe, it’s really just about making good impressions, being around others in the industry. Networking, basically. Film school and PA training is mostly useful for putting you in that environment. So as long as you make friends (that you keep in touch with) and keep a strong work ethic, it shouldn’t be too hard to get below-the-line experience and become employable (union) in that sense. You don’t even have to finish college if that’s all you’re aiming for. Depending on where you live, there will be FB groups, festivals, or other general meet-ups where you can socialize with the people that can get you in.

You’ll probably start as a PA, but then it’s up to you to get in good with a department you want to work in - sets, wardrobe, electric, grip, etc. College can give you more specific internship opportunities at studios, a lot of which can range from office stuff to equipment management.

That being said, it’s definitely a hustle, and the ideal “getting a job out of school” thing won’t mean the same thing as it does in other industries. Film/TV is seasonal work, and you’ll have to be looking for the next gig and the next and the next* until you’ve established yourself within the local industry and built relationships that will get you called, maybe to even those more important, higher up jobs. Upward mobility isn’t really a thing without relationships with the right people.

Pre/post-production work and other above-the-line stuff is less easy to get, and a lot of luck. But it’s a little more traditional. I think there’s more initiative to do things yourself here - write scripts, direct your own shorts, compile a portfolio, etc. And then submitting those to agents, post-houses, festivals, studios, production companies, etc. College learning is more useful here; that’s where you’ll learn technical craft and industry standard practices - but even that can be learned at home. The degree/certification itself won’t be more important than what you can show, but if the program is good or you did work hard throughout, you should come out with a portfolio. Just remember, that’s still not a guarantee of employment.

*(depending on your path, working at a studio has a little more permanence than crew-work but it’s not necessarily production work)

As far as the “getting a job right after school” thing, it’s really not that important to me. I’ve just been feeling anxious lately now that I’ve had so much down time. Hello Everyone. I hope that everyone and their families are safe and healthy right now.

My name is Luke, I’ve been an originaltrilogy.com member for a few years now. Fanedits/fanediting/preservation have inspired me since I was 14, and doing my own edits/making shorts with my friends have really gotten me thinking about going to film school. Today I applied to Brooklyn College and a few other film production programs around the NY. I am happy with getting an ordinary job in the industry, I also really want a job right out of school. I know there are a lot of people on this site who are actually working in the industry, so I was wondering what type of advice you guys have.

I’m really interested in pretty much every aspect of film making. I like editing but I think my main interests are in hands on production stuff. I would love to be a gaffer, DP, audio engineer ect. But I’m extremely open to any job/career path. I know that most of the advice that will come from you guys will be things regarding ediitng, VFX, Color Correcting, and sound. I would love to hear what you guys have to say. IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HEAR FROM ANYONE REALLY. It’s a really weird time for everyone now, but if anybody is like me and who has a lot of free time I’d love to just talk.

This site has always been a great escape for me, and over the years I’ve realized how many extraordinary people are actually on here. Even though I don’t post much , I love this site, and now would be a good time to connect a littLe more with everyone. Anyways thanks. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU…
