If George Had Made The Sequel Trilogy...
Time

Much of what was planned for the sequel trilogy was condensed in to ROTJ from what I read.

After Empire George went off the idea of making Loads more Star Wars films as it nearly made him bankrupt and his divorce and so on.

Return of the Jedi was the ticket George needed to Set up Skywalker Ranch and all the companies in the franchise.

So there was probably a new sequel trilogy written later. But most of it is in ROTJ

They used a crane in Star Wars, and actually had to open up the roof of the soundstage to do it. (One of my favorite practical shots in the movie.) They did use forklifts for the snowspeeders lifting off in ESB.

Apparently they went back to Cardington in Bedfordshire to film in the same Hangers that they did for the original in 1977

Also why do people keep quoting the Alarm from the trailer as being the “Imperial Alarm” This is also the Alarm on the Tantive (Blockade Runner) right?

Why would the Emperor’s royal guard be protecting Vader though?

I think that might actually be the emperor…

And if it is who or what is he kneeling to.

There is nothing to suggest that he is kneeling before another person here.

It could be that this tube thing is some sort of Tech to do with the Super Laser on the Death Star and they only just cracked the formula to make it work.

I have also heard a rumour that All the Bounty hunters from the OT will make an appearance but they were not chosen. Jabba may also be in it too. Forest Whittaker is a bounty hunter and is hired possibly along with some of the others. Not sure if it is true but there you go.

Cad Bane is also added to the bounty hunter troop

Not sure about him hope he looks better than that.

The one thing I have spotted from the trailer that may or may not be inconsistent is that they are towing an x-wing through the door. And many Pilots are running out the door of Yavin Base

We all know they Take off inside the hanger and float gracefully out of the door in Star Wars. So I am just wondering if they have been relegated to a space outside the Temple.

I think the red lit cockpit is far more important in ROTJ.

First of all it is night and it has headlights by the guns.

I think removing the red cockpit in ROTJ would look awful.

But if the glass is tinted red when you shine white light through it it will appear red from outside.

It is a very small thing but it is a bit of a tricky one. You could easily wipe from a red filter to normal color to show the red window de-activating.

You can not show a red light on in the cockpit

That is true. Besides, if my suggestion’s correct, why would they need it on in daylight?

To reduce the glare off of the snow.

The only way it really could work is if the Visor or viewport was red not the cockpit being lit up red.

You think of Snow goggles they are red / yellow tinted but you do also get Blue ones.

But I do believe we will be in no doubt about when the Tantive is attacked as like I said I think we will see that from the Empires Perspective rather than the Rebels perspective.

So we will see how the stormtroopers have cut their way through the Tantive’s main door ?

 • I’m waiting…
 • Working on it Lord Vader. I’m almost… there…

No I was referring to the Star Destroyer intercepting the Tantive and perhaps seeing this from the bridge of the Star destroyer with Vader. But only to serve as a this is when this happens in the timeline and we would be aware of what is going on but following a new group of characters.

It is speculation I am not saying this will be the case 100% but I have a feeling that we will be made aware of when the Tantive is being attacked somehow.

I think the idea of overlap with Star Wars is a distinct possibility.

I frankly don’t see “how”. No life form escapes the Tantive IV. Leia’s got the plans and clearly puts them into R2. Everyone on board of the Tantive is either killed or made prisoner. It’s supposed to be a diplomatic ship, so no obvious members of the Rebellion (i.e. the death star suicide squad) would have boarded it. There is already no need to tell this story, so I don’t think at all they are going to step on ANH.

On a screenplay point of view I don’t have any hopes about this reboot/prequel; but the director knows how to shoot action scenes and how to create suspense. He’s also got a very good visual style (Godzilla 2014 is not a great movie at all, the script is lazy, the main protagonist isn’t interesting, but there are a few dazzling ideas). So at least Rogue One could be visually interesting and, why not, surprising. If I get a mediocre/average movie, it will be more than I expect.

I think we will probably follow the characters in this film Rogue one whilst the Tantive IV is being attacked. The film will have to show them making the transmission of the plans and that’s not really an ending to a film that is just the mission being completed which is not grounds enough to base a movie on. It is simply an event we know happened.

But I do believe we will be in no doubt about when the Tantive is attacked as like I said I think we will see that from the Empires Perspective rather than the Rebels perspective.

In fact this is what Leia does in the opening scene of ANH. Leia has the plan when the movie begins, she uploads them into R2 after having recording her message to Ben.

Ah yes on the credit card!

I think what I am trying to establish if this movie will end with the transmission being sent and I think the answer is there will be another 30 minutes to go after the transmission is sent. so I think the movies timelines will crossover a little bit.

Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread

I am posting this here even though it is not really a spoiler but the thing that I am left pondering most and there is no spoilers for Rogue one but perhaps if people never saw Star Wars (A new hope).

So people have been saying that this film is a prequel. But will it be a prequel entirely.

Now many people speculate that this will include the Blockade Runner from the opening scenes of Star Wars. But I do imagine that we will see R2-D2 having the stolen plans uploaded to his memory.

So what I am saying is will this film exist somewhat in the same timeline and will there be more story to tell if we don’t follow the droids in the escape pod?

I don’t know the answer but I am actually quite excited in how this could turn out. But the dialogue is a bit worrisome.

The Shot of the AT-AT’s features a communications dish. This I believe is where the transmission will be sent from that The Blockade Runner Intercepts. Alerting the Empire to the Blockade Runner with Princess Leia aboard.

I can imagine seeing the Blockade Runner Sequence from the Empires perspective.

When that was put up we didn’t have footage from a new OT era film to look at. Ady doesn’t have to read or implement anything we write here.

It’s not a design remnant as the AT-AT in ROTJ also has the red cockpit light… And Head lights

@Bingowings

Yeah the Red Light Never Bothered me.

It could very well be a remnant from the first design choices of the AT-AT’s though because they were also originally going to have Blue Lasers. I think the red lit cockpit certainly from an external point of view makes them look meaner.

It could also have been a simple decision so that in the shot where we see the AT-AT with the Red light on (aside from the Binocular shot) it draws our focus to that particular AT-AT as this is the one that launches the attack and fires the first shots.
