So do I!

I have got a copy of the CD-Rom in the post so I will let you know what is on it anyway when it arrives. Providing I can get it to run.

I doubt the footage I have is from the CD-rom now. But a quick question is the documentary footage where the tribe run’s towards the pyramid in the making of documentary to the music of “Jurrasic Park” on the Blu - Ray?

I have also bought the Blu-Ray because it might be on there. I don’t know where to find this making of documentary but it has some great deleted scenes in it.

Here is a rough color test on what I think it should look like in the command room. This is only rough but it is meant to have a blue tint like this in the clip.

Just throwing this out there but does anyone have this.

It is a CD-ROM making of disc. I have heard there is stuff on this that you can not find anywhere else but I have also read that the video included on the disc is ?postage stamp size? what ever that means I guess low quality and small. Then there is also the issue of running the disc and extracting the contents also. And would it even be able to use it.

Basically I am trying pool all the deleted footage I can find from various sources.

I am hoping to construct a cut that runs around + 10 - 12 minutes longer than the directors cut from what I have seen so far.

Some shots will require vfx to be added which will be the most tricky part for me but some decent preparation I should be able to achieve this as I do not plan on doing anything too difficult. Or at least I don’t think it will be too difficult.

But if someone talented and knew what they were doing was interested in heading up a number of effects shots (Not a massive amount) then I would ask you PM me if you are interested in having some fun with this. It is mostly Staff Lasers and hits and Stargate puddles and a couple of re-comps.

Anyway let me know if you have the CD-ROM and what is on it…

I think I may have it or most of it? but it has hard coded french subtitles… and it is in 240p (So that will have to be super resolutioned to be of any use and even then) I don’t know if it would be a perfect match to the DVD.

But there is some great deleted shots in it and I really want to use all of it.

If you are in the USA can you watch this link?

I think proposed changelist is what I will do. This is actually going to be quite tricky. But I hope I have just enough skill to pull it off.

If not then I may need some help.

Basically the general premise is to put as much of the missing material back in the film as possible.

It will be DVD quality as the missing shots are in this quality. I also hope to improve some shots and special effects slightly.

The Film canon is what I am adhering to not really the tv series but it will come in handy to solve some problems.

The audio will be mainly sourced from the pioneer theatrical version as it is the best sounding. I am not fond of surround sound mixes they just ruin the original sound of films most of the time.

There seems to be one scene in particular that has a clear revisionism stamp on it. And that is the flashback of the uprising on Earth is set at night… Blue tint but correctly as the crowd have lanterns.

Whilst it seems the directors cut set’s it in the day by color grading it to be day very deliverately bright and yellow. So now why the Lanterns?

I think that it is small but it’s way out and I don’t know about the latest releases of the theatrical cut but it is meant to be night on the uprising where the guard is lifted up as Daniel recounts the story of RA from the hieroglyphs with Flashbacks.

Right I am looking in to this film and am just in planning phase of this currently. I am by no means a massive Stargate Fan but I do like the original film from my youth.

Some revelations I wish to share about the film, and how there is some very important pieces to the film missing.

Ok so I have been studying the film and various material including the rough draft script.

First of all a deliberate color change when Daniel speaks of an uprising on Earth the flashback scene was set at night not day like in all other versions the theatrical cut has a night / blue tint all other versions appear to be day.

Various missing shots from the film ended up in Stargate SG-1

Now let’s move on to some of the more important details pertaining to the finale.

Their was an extended face off between RA & Daniel that was cut (can not do anything about that)

When RA is clutching Daniels head with the eye weapon on his hand. When the rings are activated not only does it send the Anubis (Jackal) Guard’s severed head up to the ship but it was also meant to chop off RA’s hand in the process and send it down to the Stargate chamber below with Daniel and Sha’uri.

When the bomb is sent up to RA’s ship RA’s children were standing in the ring and was swapped for the Bomb as they became frightened of RA. The children did not get Nuked even though the shit editing here suggests they did it’s just a missing scene. After RA’s ship is detonated the children walk from out the pyramid on the planet squinting in to the sunlight.

The second time the Stargate is activated the shots of it activating are missing. The Stargate on the Alien world activating is also missing.

Some of these cuts appear to be censorship related to maintain a PG / 13 Rating. Some appear to be Budget related but some cuts like the Children not being Nuked make very little sense to be excluded.

Ok now that is settled. If you have any thoughts on Stargate Movie or TV Series from now until the end of July is a good time to share them with me. As If I do decide to start this then it will be some time in August possibly.

If you are going to put movies in the list because of major color tints being added. You may as well add Stargate to the list also.

It has had a directors cut released which did not update the special effects but the colors are much much different from the remaster. and an additional number of minutes were added from the cutting room floor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiJtZUPvJxY

Very much either Yellow / Pink / violet and Turqoise tinting has been added that trailer is the more or less right colors compared to the current versions. Practically the whole film is tinted in one of those 4 directions.

EDIT: It seems that the 15th anniversary Blu-Ray sorts the color tinting out in many respects

I am going to probably do an edit on this in the next few months I am gearing up for it.

Ships Taking off and Landing

That’s one of the worst parts, actually. I read a review once that referred to the PT as “landing strut movies.”

I know a lot of people are critical of that aspect of the PT but it is the only way that the PT really beat the OT.

The OT due to technical limits at the time it was filmed would try to get around the problem of not having to show scenes like this as it was too difficult or complicated to do so where as the PT would just show it without worry as it was then possible and manageable.

And the PT made it look good for these instances compared to the OT would look quite Bad or limited by the technology available.

You still can look forward to it.

I will attempt to make a staggered release in chapters of the whole edit if it get’s taken down it get’s taken down.

That is the best I can offer. I don’t trust the wild and at least this way there is a control measure.

Here is Part 1

Well I finished it and uploaded it and then took it down because of a copyright message when I went to get the Link. So I don’t really know what to do about sharing it now.

I would like people to see it but I also don’t want any trouble from it also. It’s sourced from an old DVD but yeah not too sure really.

I will elaborate on my thoughts at this time. Basically now I have rendered it in 720 x 576 at 10 bit depth (Rather than 1280 x 720 5 bit) It looks really good and although it is not HD I think it looks better than the Blu-Ray does not in Resolution but definitely color from the clips I have seen. so that is a bit of a problem because I have bested what you can buy in a way. Which means competition in a sort of way.

Whichever way you look at it, it is competition. But It’s not meant to be competition if you catch my drift. There is no money involved apart from cost on my part. But Loss perhaps also for the company If I release it.

The Empire Strikes Back: Sessions Questions (Two Music Cues In Particular)
Time

The Score when Yoda meets Luke the first time matches the footage basically up until Yoda bites the food stick.

The rest of the music clashes with the footage and was scored to an alternative edit of the film. The only small bit part is cutting in with the Harp Gliss before the cue in the film when Yoda laughs. Probably an editing mistake also.

The same goes for when Yoda trains Luke the score only matches the footage from the point of “No, no, no there is no why” Because the music scored before this point would have also been for probably the scene where Luke Slashes the Metal Bar.

Don’t really know about the Finale. But in terms of when the re-score that was done later there must be music we have never heard that was “thrown out” when the music score was done originally because of the film being changed quite a bit very late in the game. Particularly the final third of the film and the Cloud city scenes where there are many music edits.

But in terms of the Finale there is a music edit that was made to accommodate the change from the 70mm version to the 35mm version. from “Yoda and the force” Inserted.

And then Ronster will turn up with a couple more suggestions 😉

I’m not surprised Ady left, he’s been here long enough to know what’s coming!

p.s. I love reading Ronster’s posts, please never stop making suggestions my friend.

I stopped looking at this film for good now. I actually really wanted to do an edit on ESB myself. I could not pull off the sort of stuff that the Revisited Team pull off. But I really just wanted to study the music in the film mainly. But yeah It’s one of my favorite films from childhood.

oh alright then… I suggest Ady comes back when he is good and ready 😃

Re-work the site so it's main focus is not about fan editing or preservations entirely.
Time

That will always happen but it might happen less if you have 5 - 6 main threads

And then branches within those main threads / sub-forum

and seeing how people can also never search for anything it would diminish the need for a search function if things were sub-grouped by association.

But It was just an idea you can look at it negatively or positively I suppose.
