Like this?

Perhaps when the senate started looking like draculas castle people will have realised it is time for a change?

I really like that image though. It’s the only OT version of the Senate I know of.

And It also looks like it’s been built on top of and within the Jedi Temple eh?

You can imagine the spiel about using the building and in principle continuing to try and uphold the Justice and Truth of the Jedi order whilst they were responsible for killing them off practically. I bet that is a Lucus Idea, I think it has his trademark all over it TBH.

Can’t say I ever noticed that before today though.

No, the ruse with the distress signal was for the benefit of the senate:

Send a distress signal and then inform the senate that all aboard were killed!

The senate itself was dissolved by the Emperor not long afterward. So it’s quite possible the destruction of the Tantive was never reported.

The Distress Signal is indeed for the Senate but nobody would ever admit that Leia “The Imperial Senator” was sent by Alderaan to be involved in a plot to Destroy the Imperial Super waepon of mass destruction. If anything this collusion and deceit by the senate was probably what caused it to be dissolved as it became clear that the Senate or parts of it was plotting against the Empire in some form of Rebel Alliance.

The Empire wanted the Senate to believe Leia was dead. To send a clear message to the mutineers. Although they would not let on that they have Leia held captive.

According to Anyone from Alderaan Leia was alive and well on Holiday by the lakes and mountains. She was never on that ship… But the Empire knew she was. And they pretended she was killed for the conspirators.

Why else would you sneek about with a hood on if you were not meant to be publically known to be there but in “Secret”

But then Darth Vader sending the distress signal and all aboard were killed. Get’s contradicted by that.

So that is just a George Lucus plot point where he screwed up?

It’s interesting Tobar I’ll give you that.

So that means that the command center never knew the mission had failed / succeeded in any way and they also never knew that one of the ships were destroyed and all aboard were killed including Leia?

Perhaps they do not know then that Leia has the Secret Plans beamed aboard?

The film was never written with a prequel in mind I suppose. But it can’t even get it’s own plot straight? My mind boggles now at how Leia actually ends up getting the plans as it really was not anything to do with her. And it also was not the mission she was “Meant to be on”

Perhaps Leia was not even meant to be on that ship the Tantive IV but some how ended up on it.

I would rather believe the guy who greets Leia on Yavin was not high enough up the chain to know about the “Secret Mission” In fact that guy does not know anything about what is going on really.

You are certainly not going to reveal an Imperial Senator as a “Rebel Spy” in public to all the alliance.

Yes but it does not rule out the two stories overlapping.

If the movie was to smash cut to the command center on Yavin. Bail Organa Distraught and in Tears at the loss of his daughter. The sense that they very nearly succeeded but the plans were lost aboard the Tantive IV.

At this point from the Rebel command center’s point of view the whole thing although it was a victory was in vein. And we never got the full weight of what happened.

When you watch Star Wars / A New Hope (I guess the episode name would sum it up all hope should be lost in Rogue One) you don’t get the full weight of the opening without knowing what rests on the mission succeeding which it obviously does not. But we don’t get any reaction related to the characters we are going to meet in Rogue one of how bad the news of Tantive IV being destroyed was. Leia is dead for all they know and the mission was ultimately a failure.

You could show Leia as a blip on a Radar Screen and it would still have a huge amount of emotional weight behind it.

Nice… Never knew that look out tower had lights on it. Up and down buttons I suppose 😃

Trading cards images released no real spoilers

http://makingstarwars.net/2016/10/20-new-rogue-one-a-star-wars-story-images-via-star-wars-card-trader/

At San Francisco Comic Con I think it was Pablo Hidalgo said that the film starts off the main plot (the trigger) with Riz Ahmeds character Bohdi Rook. He is the imperial Cargo Pilot. So I guess he may have been shipping some prisioners also perhaps even in a clandestine way to dispose of these undesirables.

Another thing that I have been pondering. And it has to do with Vader sending the distress Signal aboard the Tantive IV and “Inform the Senate all aboard were killed” or something like that… Will the Rebels believe Princess Leia to be Dead and the mission a failure?

The structure seen in the x-wings space battle has been speculated to be a dry dock for the imperial fleet. Perhaps it’s a type of Peal Harbour scenario? “They will never know we are coming”

There are also some new Character Trading Cards also. More Spoilerific but not in terms of plot just unseen costumes and character names.

I wonder if we will catch a glimpse of the planet Dantooine from say a probe droid transmitting data back of a deserted Rebel base.

Although we all know the death star plans will be a major plot point, The Empire are looking for the Rebels, and are coming up short on leads. I wonder how much time will be spent on the Empire trying to find the main source of the Rebellion and their hidden Rebel base.

I especially like the probe droid transmitting data back of say the deserted base on Dantooine because it calls back to Empire Strikes Back but it’s a discovery that is made perhaps too late and comes up short but it also ties in to Tarkins “Common knowledge” displayed before Alderaan is destroyed.

I mean, Leia tells them the Rebel base is on Dantooine in ANH and the Empire only later realizes the Rebel base there was abandoned.

Rogue One ends before ANH.

Oh yeah, sorry I was half asleep when I wrote that you are right. Where Tarkin exclaims “She Lied to us!” The thing I suppose I am getting at here is. They “The Empire” still have to be searching for the Rebels no matter what the Rebels are up to. As far as the trailer goes it does not seem that the Empire is doing much hunting. The Empire was always the hunters looking for a fight but going by the trailer it seems it’s the Rebels looking for a fight and the Empire going about their business.

Perhaps the Black colored Tie fighters are from Dantooine? This other Faction…

Also this Hammerhead ship is confirmed to be part of Rebel ships in Rogue one. It can be seen in the distance in one of the x-wing shots.

Hammerhead Class Cruiser. (Sans Paint job in Rogue one)

Jyn shares a cell with Special Edition Cantina Alien Ketwol & Menas (It was 2 aliens one the front of face and the other the back of his head). Who Replaced the Wolfman outfits. It says he is Involved in Mining Asteroids and supplies the Rebel Alliance with Information As per legends. I have a feeling this could be Warwick Davis character? He needs stilts to be the size of a normal human.

Was Ketwol / Menas developed exclusively for the Special Edition? I doubt it… So there is something very interesting about this Alien indeed. What was his creation all about? It probably ties to the Axed live action TV series or axed prequel character? That is my guess about it.

I just realized that the Senate is dissolved two days after this movie ends. Despite the Lucas Prequels dwelling too much on it, I hope that something is made of this, like how people hope that the Senate will have the power to oust Palpatine, and it looks like it may happen during Rogue One. I expect that the Rebellion has a more pessimistic view of the situation.

Puppet Government they have a Death Star now.

Looks Good though. Still wondering what is going on plot wise a bit. Going to Have to wait and see but yeah I agree it could do with a scorning coming from the Senate of complete disgust before Palps brings the iron curtain down on it.

Visuals and special effects look great and the dialogue is much better than previous trailers.

Ok here is the link I found.

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=53398.0

Now… Despayre is obviously not used in the new film but the general plot is from the WIKI / WOOKIE on Despayer

in 1993 was it associated with the Death Star test Firing?

I have no idea about all this EU stuff I actually have never known about any of it really… I only found it the other day.

It seems to me like because the clone wars cartoon got cancelled they are trying to finish up the plot threads in this new Rebels show just in the OT era which would make more sense. Renewed interest and some budget I suppose. But it’s weird compared to cartoons when I was a kid. I mean yes characters used to die (although very rarely), but there was not any strange continuity constraint on them. And I think it’s just better to have fun cartoons for the kids without having to worry about connecting it to anything. Especially Big Budget movies.

Well don’t make fun I came across the planet Despayer which is from the Star Wars EU and the name was taken and possibly some plot also from a guy developing an adventure game (A bit like Monkey Island) also coincidently it was about stealing the death star plans.

There’s nothing special about my ideas or anybody’s ideas they are all up for grabs. We don’t own it.

Saw Gerrara - Atleast get’s let off has he was originally attached to the Live action TV series that was canned developed by George Lucus involvement and it was going to be played by Forrest Whitaker also.

But Darth Maul…It just worries me that.

In what way exactly ? So far only speculation such as these, so, in other words, nothing.

Anyway…

It has been confirmed that Characters from this cartoon or other cartoons could show up in the movies. They already have in fact.

Rogue one’s screenplay is also written collaboratively by Gary Whitta who also wrote some episodes for this Cartoon.

the dangerous thing is though that this cartoon is considered actually Canon by Disney as actual events that happened which is most alarming. All the Jedi running around not sure if it’s a complete contradiction of events or not. But it does seem to be overstepping the mark when “Canon” is plastered on it.

Perhaps Palpatine survived The Destruction of the Deathstar 2, better build another one to finish him off properly.

Perhaps Dooku could be brought back with a Robot Body and just put his head on the top?

Whilst I could not care less what the hell is done in a cartoon, Point your canon somewhere else. I call for Relegation of this schlock. It’s fine and well being a kids program and all but.

Is a Kids Cartoon going to Kill all These Jedi and Sith apart from… Obiwan and Vader? And what just in time to say hey back to normal? We are in the OT era now.

If it treads on the films toes no problem but let’s clearly relegate it to what it is… A cartoon.

Whilst I agree with you, If you can Bring Anakin Back to life and make him a half Robot Sith you can Bring Maul back and make him a half Robot Sith too.

Why is Darth Maul any different?.. He is not any different and the cartoon unfortunately proves this.

It becomes Less speculative when you think about who would be kneeling down. It’s not Vader and it’s not a Bacta Tank (God that Bacta Tank observation get’s on my wick).

These Cartoons under Disney is playing a rather more important role than we have been used to previously.

I would not put car parts from a ford fiesta in to a Ferrari if I had a Ferrari though, that would be just as crazy.

I really hope it is not Darth Maul unless like I said we are going back to an earlier time.

But let’s not forget who the audience that is being targeted. Rogue one falls in to the 10 years old plus category I would say.

I understand not putting a Rebels character in RO, that just makes sense, but why not the other way around? Would be an opportunity sorely missed. Isn’t this what the story group is for?

They did put a Clone Wars character in RO though, so maybe. On a side note, I’d love to see how people react if Maul is in an upcoming movie. I’d bet that 90% of people think Maul is still dead.

I don’t think they could do Maul… they’d have to explain everything again for the movie and that’d take up a ton of time. I’d like it, but it’d be so much to do. Maybe his own Anthology or something?

I really do not have any interest in the Cartoon personally but in terms of plot threads to me it seems this is who that is in that Picture. Darth Maul. But we are possibly going back in time here and not being in the era of the OT?

I really can not think who else that CAN be… It would be very weird to have Darth Maul so close to the original Star Wars. But this of course could be a sort of flash back to an earlier time but the Room does seem very Original Trilogy.

If it is Maul, then I call it a Bad Idea, even though I like the character.

But it could be in 32BBY which I would be ok with

It seems the Empire has scrambled your message.

Yolks aside, if you did not catch the comments from John Knoll about the egg shaped death star that will be no longer egg shaped in Rogue one, oh well it is Fry-day.

Raltiir (From the NPR) seems to have become Jedah. So I think you can expect the arms shipment in the guise of a mercy mission here. The poor oppressed citizens of Jedha,

If that Paves the way for Alderaan and a certain Lord Tion and a Ruckus at a dinner party. All being well I would really hope this is the film we will get. Can’t confirm it but the framework or remnants of Toprawa (Scarif) and Raltiir (Jedah) appear to remain intact. It is only Alderan that is missing link in the story so far. With both Yavin featuring because of The “secret mission” and the icelandic planet (?) being back story for Galen, Jyn and Lyra.

Not sure if the x-wing night flight is another planet or not… My guess it’s another planet due to Baze exclaiming “you Destroyed our home”.

Possible order.

Alderan
Yavin
Jedah
Blue misty / foggy Planet
Scarif

Icelandic Planet = Flashback or Alderan?
Geonosis - The Deathstar moves to Jedha which would possibly axe the Alderan Dinner Party or atleast re-configure events significantly.

The Planet Despayer and plot has also been amalgamated in to - Jedah for the weapons test

Lord Tion is now Director Krennic - Will he have a soft spot for princess Leia?

Other Lines of dialogue in A New Hope that could potentially Hint at things that will happen in Rogue one.

C3-P0 - “There will be no escape for the princess this time” - She escapes in Rogue One from a Situation possibly

Vader then when Leia is Captured Says - “You were’nt on any MERCY MISSION this time” suggesting he met her first when she claimed to be on a mercy mission.

Vader - “SEVERAL TRANSMISSIONS were beamed aboard this ship” There is more than one transmission made to the Tantive IV

Vader - “SEND A DISTRESS SIGNAL and then inform the senate that all aboard were killed” Vader orders sending the distress signal and not Leia.

Vader - “There will be no one to stop us this time” suggesting that something or someone stopped him previously from finding the hidden rebel base.

I am also wondering how the Distress Signal and killing all aboard the Tantive IV had anything to do with the Senate being dissolved as Tarkin references later on. Perhaps there was a loss of control.

If this whole “Mercy Mission” Sub plot does some how play out and the Tantive get’s let through a Blockade on Goodwill will we see the Millenium Falcon being stopped and boarded (No Character Appearances). The point at which Han drops his Cargo Instigating the Bounty on his Head. Probably a stretch but I am merely trying to connect dots.

I read about the Lord Tion story and I like that a High Ranking Imperial want’s to Marry Leia. Although he dies suspiciously. I doubt this will make the film but I am rooting for an Alderan appearance, it would really add more weight to the destruction when it happens.

I like the idea of being able to watch the 2 films back to back.

Yeah I actually think that is Mos-Eisley now. Although it is seemingly borrowing from Rogue one and putting a under siege setting on Mos-Eisley…

Anyway yeah my bad it’s a mistake on my part. Interestingly though Doug Chiang is high up the chain on Lucusfilm and I never knew that before I highly respect the work he has done in the past and if he is being consulted on concepts then that can be nothing bad what so ever.

I also can’t help thinking about the Madame Tussauds deal to bring old characters likeness in to reality today. I honestly believe that Madame Tussauds have perhaps been utilized to help with the Anthology Films.

Well I think it’s safe to say “Toprawa” is now “Scarif” for all intents and purposes.

When you take in to account Leia’s message without taking in to account any other EU stories and what she says at face value, It is inferred that her mission was to pick up Obi-Wan and take him to Alderan and this failed due to coming under attack.

So I am very interested in how this will be handled. I hope they don’t mess it up.

It seems a bit of a stretch to be involved in picking up the death star plans and then picking up Obi-Wan all in one fell swoop. You would get 2 separate ships for that. But I suppose it is confirmed that the U-wing does indeed get destroyed.

I would certainly prefer a scenario where the Tantive IV get’s drafted in unexpectedly given the Message Leia gives and clearly states her mission was sort of “Compromised”

It’s amusing they felt cropping off the top was the spoiler and not the Helmet in the water.

Or Perhaps the picture was cropped intentionally to get the message across.

Who do you think Forest Whittaker’s character is talking to when he says…

“What will you do if they break you?”

“General Kenobi. Years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire. I regret that I am unable to present my father’s request to you in person, but my ship has fallen under attack, and I’m afraid my mission to bring you to Alderaan has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of the Rebellion into the memory systems of this R2 unit. My father will know how to retrieve it. You must see this droid safely delivered to him on Alderaan. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.”

So At what point was Leia meant to bring Obi-wan to Alderan? Is there a reason that Obi-wan could not have been picked up because stealing the death star plans went wrong? Was the Tantive IV meant to intercept the plans or was it a last ditch effort to get the death star plans and it interfered with Obi-wan being picked up?

This Virtual Reality X-Wing Demo seems to be Rogue One Tie in by EA (Ha Pun!) I am actually surprised nobody posted this although it’s game content it is for Rogue One.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JS642fmhk0

I am not sure if it really gives us anything concrete but it does perhaps feel very movie focused at the start of the Clip with the Tantive going over Camera and the X-wings peeling off.

Confirmation of Space Battle? I would say yes… Battle of Toprawa re-jigged or possibly similar incarnation?

There has been a few different versions of the Death Star Plans being Stolen, but it seems they are going with a battle in Space as well as on the ground. I Guess it would increase the Tension of the finale. We obviously won’t see all of it either if we see it even partially. Basically it’s another Cliff Hanger.

Or a Skyhook 😃

Some more information. The mission you play on you are answering a Distress Call from the Tantive IV which is stuck fighting the Star Destroyer (Devastator) in an asteroid field. That is probably all the information that can be given on it.

If I was making this film I think I would end it with The Luke and Bigga scene. At least then it would completely flow one film in to the next with a small overlap and from a different perspective.

I’m becoming concerned that this isn’t going to be as stand-alone as I’ve been hoping. Star Wars, under and because of Lucas, has long since become a convoluted, shrunken universe, incestuous mess. That’s what turned me away from the film/Lucas franchise and into the Daley and Zahn EU. New characters, new storylines, new worlds.

I understand Rogue One can’t be completely free of 1983-2005, but it now looks to be shaping up as some sort of Kumbaya for all the fractured fan bases.

It looks like it’s becoming the new episode 3. In that the resolution is mentioned in the crawl of episode IV and it seems to belong more to the world of the OT without totally dismissing the prequels.

It’s strange you should say this as it’s been a thought that is on my mind this whole not having an opening crawl business and also Episode VII how the hell will the crawl be for Episode VIII with that weird cliff hanger ending?

Are we seeing a new tradition beginning to unfold in the spirit of those old TV Serials (Last Week on Star Wars…)?

Will opening crawls now tell us what happened in last weeks episode?

Episode VIII does not seem to be able to do anymore in it’s opening crawl than recite what happened in Episode VII and Episode IV tells us what happened in Rogue One.

Just Saying The original films always left a gap to ponder but it seems no more gaps now. And Rogue one if it does not have a crawl then we don’t get the important back story.

Could this important cameo be Wedge Antilles? Not entirely sure how that would be possible. Considering we saw the Emperor royal guard I think it has to be Palpatine In some way shape or form.

I was reading about how they wish to connect the Rebels animated series and Rogue One somewhat.

So I think “Tarkin” will be in this 100% but what about Admiral Thrawn?

Do you think he will appear in Rogue one?

I think there is a possibility. And I would actually like to see an Alien in the Empire. I don’t follow the cartoons though so I know very little of his involvement in this show.

I also have a suspicion that the important Cameo in the Re-shoots could be good old Palps because there is not any cameo’s left really coming to think of it.

I suppose the droids C3-PO and R2-D2 but I think they would have been included from the start if they are to be in the film.
