STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

I liked the continuity of the new Slave I sound, but I wouldn't miss it terribly if Adywan reverted it. If he's aiming to keep/improve continuity between PT and OT (I know he's planning to alter Jango's helmeted voice to sound like Boba, and I like the idea the Reborn guys were entertaining of conflating Jango and Boba into one character), keeping the 2004 engine sound is a harmless way to do that.

vbangle said:Ah not really. USB could care less what file system the drive is formated with. It's like saying IDE drives are usually formatted in FAT32. Anyway....all my USB drives are NTFS....never had a problem. The only reason to be using FAT32 is if you were still running Win98....go NTFS, much better. :)

I think you mean "USB couldn't care less". See, it actually makes logical sense to say that. "Couldn't care less" literally means "doesn't care at all". "Could care less" implies that it does. And so help me I will hunt down and kill any of you who make that mistake again.

That clip looks pretty sweet. Practically though, it's hard for me to tell the difference between a quality DVD like the ANH:R DVD-9 (just watched that on a friend's gigantic TV today. He'd only seen the OT once, years ago, but was a fan of the prequels. Some people have no taste lol. He was blown away) and HD footage, so I don't mind if it can't be done for ANH:R. I don't intend to get a blu-ray player until they're as cheap and ubiquitous as DVDs are now, so I expect to be sticking with the DVD format until the entire series is Revisited :p.

That said, it's great to hear that you're going to be working in HD.

I'm against keeping Temura Morrison's voice in this edit. It's just not classic Trilogy. Lucas should not have changed it to begin with. Only reason Why it was changed was that Lucas shot the prequels in Austrailia and Temura Morrison is a well known actor from that country. Now this is just my own speculation, but I believe it was a public relations decision that landed Temura Morrison the role as Boba fetts father to begin with. No offence to you folks in Austrailia at all.

Offence taken, ABD. I would venture that 90% of Australian viewers had never heard of Morrison before AOTC. I have already pointed out on this board that he's not even Australian. He's from New Zealand. That's why he has a Kiwi accent, not an Australian one. Maybe he's a popular actor there, but I'm not even sure of that.

I've just been watching the GOUT ESB and there's an error which I'm pretty sure made it into the SE and which (at least according to GM's suggestions thread) hasn't yet been mentioned. The first shot after the walker blows up the power generator has Han and Leia running in a corridor inside the base, and there's a shining lamp on the wall. Perhaps the generator is supposed to be a shield generator, but it's referred to as a power generator at least most of the time in the film, and I quite like the idea of seeing this lamp flicker and die and then having all the shots in the base darkened. I realise this would take a lot of painting out of lights in the subsequent minute or so, so an alternative might be to have the lamp flicker off and then come on dimmer, as an emergency generator kicks in.

Another request is when the Star Destroyers collide, to have more camera shake and perhaps some visual effects in the window to show them actually colliding, even if it's just flashes from unseen explosions (which would probably be more effective than directly seeing them).

Star Wars: REBORN - The Complete Saga (* unfinished project *)
Time

This is a real shame, I was so looking forward to the project. Hopefully someone else will pick it up. Unfortunately I don't have the skills necessary to pull it off, and even if I did I can't afford the software or an appropriate computer.

If it is truly a dead project, I think it would be wonderful if you could post a file — even just a text file or something similarly basic — detailing the edits you had made or were planning to make. Not necessarily the minor details of every flipped shot, colour grade or sound effect, but perhaps some of the music you were hoping to use and dialogue you had cut and at least where different prequel scenes were planned to fit in with the OT.

Perhaps if and when Adywan completes his Revisited series, a project like this will become easier, with less worrying about making the trilogies fit together without jarring and more effort on the artistic editing that makes this project so fascinating.

The idea of changing the crawls didn't really go over too well when we proposed it a while ago, so we've decided since then to just leave the originals as is.

That's a shame, I rather liked the altered versions, with the sole exception of the line "One even larger and more powerful than the first." Does this mean the Dagobah scene in ROTJ is now after the Tatooine story rather than at the start of the film, as the new crawl implied?

ID, TJ, I've basically decided on a design for the covers and it will incorporate the opening crawl, so if there's any change from the text you posted in this thread months ago could you possibly let me know? ben_danger is working on poster art for the covers and we're going for a very "retro", '70s feel. I'd also like to include a few screenshots from the movies on the back cover so let me know if there are any particular shots you'd like me to use — it's hard to know what parts of the movies you're going to cut so I'll probably wind up just using stuff from the trailer.

I think it's mostly that in parts, the ambient traffic sounds are so quiet as to be entirely drowned out by the music — I can't even tell if there is any constant ambience there. Adding it in (or raising its volume if it's already there) will make it feel a lot less empty and quiet. It needn't be too loud, just loud enough that it can be heard under the music. As you said, it's a WIP and levels aren't finalised. I feel strongly that this change should be made.

But for the most part, the clip is fantastic.

I'm totally against removing the balcony. In fact, I'm totally against removing most of the cloud city additions.

I agree, but with the proviso that Ady can fix the reflections. If not, I'd rather see it reverted to something that's at least physically possible. As for the rest, I'm glad that he seems to be keeping most of the cloud city additions, even inserting the glass lift and window where it wasn't before.

As for the TPM edit, I'm not sure how drastic Adywan is intending to be, but I have every faith in him. He may only want to clean up and change the bare minimum, or he may want to create a more radical edit (I really liked many of MagnoliaFan's dialogue and plot changes, even though the dubbing itself wasn't perfect). We'll see when the time comes. There will be many arguments I'm sure (there's a grain of sand on Jar Jar's foot that always bothered me), but Ady will have final veto on any suggestions and (as applies to every edit) if people don't like things they can always make their own version.

Hey there Adywan, I think this has been noted; but, a lot of the new windows in Cloud City stand out. I can't grab any screens at the moment, but the particular scene where they appear to be running outside* has always stood out and not fit. In short, will you be leaving all updates in Cloud City, or restoring a few to the original way?

*My memory may be fading and this could be non-existent.

I think I know the one you mean, and I also know why it stands out. This is the shot I'm thinking of.

It's mostly beautifully done, but the trouble is, the railing, cityscape and sky are reflected on the floor, including *through* the reflections of the characters, which is a serious error. I love the new vista in that shot, and I hope Adywan can fix the reflections, but if he can't it ought to be returned to the original indoor shot.
