I still think someone should run the script through a translator and back again to make some "Backstroke of the West" style subtitles

Using Babelfish, first line, English->Japanese->English:

"The echo 3 which echoes 7. The partner whose [han] is old, am I read?"

And using English->Chinese (traditional)->English:

"Echoes what others say seven echoes three. Han, old companion, you whether to read me?"

I like the Chinese version better for sure. :)

Hmm...maybe they showed the 2004 DVD on a projector. I'm sure even the '97 version is forbidden by George now.

Yeah, taking a 3-year-old to such a film is something people may want to have re-thought before they did it. I'd've thought the Emperor would've been nightmare material for you more than unmasked Vader. Heh.

i think de-SEing ANH would be a hard task, as they weren't flat out new shots as they were adding things to existing shots, ruining them in the process. Same with RotJ, I would think.

Yeah, that's a good point. Shame.

I think it would be possible to pull off for ANH - it would just require an Adywan-magnitude of perseverance to pull off. Start by using Adywan's AVCHD of  ANH-SE. Pop in a few scenes from ANH-R (like officer's getting blasted in the chest, the stormtrooper road-check in Mos Eisley, etc.). Then for the rest use a stabilized GOUT. I'm actually surprised it hasn't been tried yet.

I'm just surprised overall that there have been...what, zero? projects based on ANH:R. Some have used some of the footage, of course, but I mean a real new edit based almost entirely on "fixing" ANH:R or using it as the foundation for something like you just mentioned. I guess people are really satisfied with either the DVD-9 or the Purist version.

Neat-o. I could see AvP upping the "fixed" version later on. He has done similar things before so people don't have to also download the tools and instructions and such.

Still seems a shame to do it for a split second of audio. I wonder how many would've really noticed if you hadn't of mentioned it. ;)
