Yes, those lightsaber pictures do look very good. Just a subtle little change (even just to the worst cases of incorrect coloring) that would've been a snap for Lowry and/or LFL.
Thanks for the pics, DE! With that one of Leia and Han, I thought "what am I looking for?" at first, but it's the sky that really hit me. The right side looks much less polluted. Heh.
Wow, if I didn't know any better, I'd say someone was really paying attention when I drew that pumped-up Smurf with the heart tattoo and machine gun back in Computer Ed. 120 class in 1994! Wish I had kept it so I could post it here to show how close it was. Haha.
If the info I gave DjinniMan works for him (I asked him to let me know), maybe he can share it with you. I don't think it saved a copy of my message when I sent it to him.
Update: have PM'd!! hairy_hen and DjinniMan about it.
The only thing that ever truly bugged me about ESB through the years were some of the matte lines, especially in space scenes. Some of them were absolutely awful, like ghostly boxes around the ships.
Has this IMAX classic ever been out on video as a bootleg or anything like that?
I saw this one on Omnimax (similar to IMAX in size, but more of a dome in shape) at the Ontario Science Center. Though I can't remember too many specifics from it now, I do remember the revamped opening scene from Star Wars (had to look straight up to see the ships come in! ), stuff from Kazaam (uh...) and a newly created version of King Kong's fight and fall from the Empire State building.
Kind of a shame that our only memories of it are 10 years old now and we may never see it again. Of course, I'm hoping someone will prove me wrong in this regard!

You're so right. The only addition I thought was kind of neat (but unnecessary, of course) was the extended shot of Slave 1 following the Falcon. But then, stretching out the musical cue sounded stupid to me, so...meh!
That last paragraph from that article is telling. Seems like maybe it really was an 'off and on again' thing, like he said, and thus elements were forgotten/mixed up/dropped. To me, it's just another thing I never noticed, or hadn't heard of before! That's partly why I love seeing Darth Editous' list of fixes. I read it and think "oh yeah!" and certain things.

Kinda reminds me of William Shatner's famous "get a life" skit on SNL!
Nah, that's ok. I hadn't thought about where the sabers hit, really. I figured they just sort of locked together and made one big slice downwards, but I'm going to look at that more closely now. I suppose thousands of other people have thought about it, too, and I was blissfully unaware.

Nothing wrong with a little self-promotion!
Anyway, I'm intrigued by the picture you added and what your tweaking could possibly mean. Your additions have been quality ones (even something simple as "Luke" saying "yeah," which added to the scene). Glad to hear from you and that the project is still going strong.
Heh, Star Wars vs. Star Trek... That one can take so many different directions (I usually hear lots of useless banter about the power of weapons in each universe).
I've always thought it would be cool to have a scene in TNG where Data says something about an unidentified vessel on long-range sensors, then Picard says to put it onscreen and magnify the image, and lo and behold, it's a Super Star Destroyer!
