This release is the icing on the delicious cake that has been my OT.com experience. I loved the Star Wars trilogy for many years, and my experience was pretty much the same as vbangle's; loved the originals, liked the SE's, don't care about the 2004 editions due to all the butchery. But it was really TPM that killed my love for Star Wars (to an extent). Sorta like the 1994 MLB strike slowly made me not care about baseball anymore. But then I found this site, with so much attention given to the films that really deserve it, and I was back on the trolley. First with all the excellent LD rips, then with DE's and JD's projects, now with Ady's and GoodMusician's projects.
It's actually a VERY good time to be a fan! Thank you so much! :D

Yeah, Ben Burtt. SO much talent, so many questionable decisions. I love his work overall, but there are things that just irritate me, too. It seem like hears something, then just latches onto it, like the warbling engines. I'm just glad he didn't go back and make every ship warble when they did the SEs. I would've been barfing in the aisles!
Or "the belches in Jedi aren't comical enough. Let's bump them up 30%." :p
On a positive note, I loved the IMAX movie "Special Effects", which he helped make. I wish I could see that again! I don't think it has ever been released in any format. And you rarely hear people talk about it, despite its important place in Star Wars history.

I forget how/why I came to this thread, but it brings back some great memories of the times I've watched "Building Empire." I love that movie, but the whole 70mm/alternate audio stuff is my favorite part about it. Jambe did a great job of bringing those clips to the forefront. :)

A few thoughts:
- Is this what you guys mean by UE? (I may have missed the answer somewhere) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Edition
- ADM mentioned that maybe the prequels would have been better if Burtt had not been given so much power in the overall editing scheme of things, but man...those stupid engine sounds are enough to make me cringe each time I hear them! :p It's like everything with a motor in it has no proper "idle." It's always WAwaWAwaWAwaWAwaWAwa... Know what I mean? Even some of the creatures do it! That stuff bugs me more than anything else. Except for Jar Jar, of course.
- It seems like the mp3 versions of the Episode IV set are available for download, but I'd kinda rather make flac-based CDs (this applies for episodes IV-VI, really), so I was just wondering if/when they'll be back (I hate asking questions like that, as I don't want to feel like I'm looking for a handout...), and if they are finalized, i.e. you're done editing/adding to them.
Thanks again, GM. :)

Yes, there are so many nice ones, I'd have a hard time picking just one to use! Can't wait to see Ady's, as well. As great as the ones using existing artwork can and do look, I'm even happier to see original work, to be honest.

- Might want to look at the "Shadows of the Empire" CD for extra audio if you haven't already, Ady. I know this was mentioned a while back in the ANH:R thread.
- Please, please, please remove all the belches, the Tarzan yell, and Greedo's lines (that was unbelievably lazy of them!) from ROTJ. ;)
- I don't really care to see a single change to Yoda's appearance anywhere, but if any changes are made, I know Ady's good taste will prevail!
- I'd love to hear some alternate audio and/or sound effects from the known sources , if applicable.
- Would love to see Ady's take in the alternate intro to ESB that is on the EditDroid version of the movie (you know, with the blue letters and snow)
At any rate, it's fun to follow these threads. :)

Oh man, if it's not too time consuming, one of you video wizards should do this, just for our enjoyment! :)
Some thoughts:
- I'm going to have fun following this thread and I kick myself for having joined the ANH: R thread so late (despite being a member for almost 2 years now)
- I don't even see how it would be possible to smooth out the Tauntaun animation. But then, I'm no video wizard (why did I use that term in the first place?)
- the part where they're switching off 3P0 and he's saying "The Empire may be gracious enough..." has always bugged me. It's like his voice gets funny/deep way too early.
and lastly...
- are there any grains of sand that should be removed from anyone's feet in this movie? ;)

I wouldn't recommend it. If you can get your hands on printable discs (and a printer that can accommodate them) then you're dandy, but those stickers will destroy your discs faster than you can do a really fast thing. Almost every burned disc I own with an adhesive label on it is, if not a total coaster, at least partially corrupted.

Sounds like the time they took a still life I'd done, cropped it, and gave it to some guy I'd never heard of...without saying a word to me. My mother was SO angry!
So maybe I shouldn't do it, then, unless I make one copy just for looks. Haha.

- Ron Moses is hilarious!
- HotRod made me laugh, too, especially after he mentioned the grain of sand after a long absense of NOT mentioning it. ;)
- Ady's health and HDD/general editing problems were sad to hear about, though fascinating in a way. It's interesting how these setbacks often result in better results afterwards. I know that has happened to me more than once as well.
- I have never printed out disc art in my life, but I just may pick up some sticker sheets for these releases!
- someone mentioned having a hard time finding the sound effect files on the Behind the Magic CD-ROM, but I was using them as sound events on my old computer despite being far more of a novice than I am now. Seems odd.
- poor JediTemple70mm and his RAR/etc... problems. We've all been there. :)
I now look forward to not only continuing to follow this thread, but the ESB one as well. This is some truly amazing work and it's fun to see all the new developments!

Anyway, I plan to read through this and maybe the last one as well, but for now, I was just wondering what the official status of this project is as far as others seeing it. I had always heard that no one besides the editors would ever see it, but now that doesn't seem to be the case.

Say, this is a bit off-topic, but I was just wondering if anyone knows why Carrie Fisher adopted a fake accent during her part with Tarkin. It was obviously a conscious decision (if it wasn't, they would've told her to cut it out, no?), so why was it done?

The line goes "In fact, I, uh...also thinking about our agreement." Unless my ears are really deceiving me, there is no "was" in there, like it's a gaffe on the part of the audio editors. (either that or it's incredibly quiet!) Not even the "s" sound at the end of the word. Even something like making it sound like he's saying "zalso" would add the necessary "s" sound back in there. Yes/no? Maybe do it like DE added in his "yeah." ;)
Actually, I mentioned this to DE, but only after he was finished V3 and he said "oh, now you tell me." :p

Oh, I fully intend to. :) I did the same with Darth Editous' different threads and it was quite entertaining. Thanks for the link, too.
