STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

DGC General X took the words right out of my mouth. The use of "Battle of the Heroes" in the Vader/Kenobi fight helped to bridge the two trilogies. Lucas once describe each Star Wars installment as a rhyme in a poem. I think that the use of "Battle of the Heroes" in Revisited is a pefect example of this philosophy being effectively implemented.

On an entirely different note:

I just finished watching the "Abandoned Clip"

Was the only difference that the SE effects were removed? I honestly enjoyed those, because it made Cloud City feel more open and less claustrophoibic.

I liked what Monroeville had to say. Adywan - even though I don't feel this way - if you think that the SE version is too cluttered, would you think about creating a version that removes that cluttered feeling but still makes Cloud City feel like an open environment?

PS Adywan, I'm out on a trip right now, but when I get home I'm going to be sending a donation your way. It won't be a lot, as I am a poor college student, but I believe in what you are doing and want to help as best I can.

I also don't want to start a flame war, and am a fan of civilized debate (Guess I shouldn't be posting on a forum then. Lol.)

1) The arm on the floor is a "continuity issue" not "canonicity."

2) Aspects of the film soundtrack do not exist in-universe (Save for the Cantina Band of course). Do you really think that Vader hears the Imperial March being played offstage while stomping through the bridge of the Executor? (i.e. not an Canonicity issue.) Plus we hear it alluded to in the PT. I think it was added to Revisited in order to connect the two trilogies, as it's kinda weird to hear it in the PT and then never again until ESB.

3) Yeah, that rant about R2's light was not worth the time I spent to post about it. Good call.

I've already given my lecture about serving the story and not doing something just because you can, so now I'll take a moment to tread that fine line between fan and fanboy *Shudders*:

Yes, changing the laser color may seem like a minor, insignificant change (So did Greedo shooting first), but think of the larger picture in terms of canonicity. Laser color is a marker of what kind of technology is powering the weapon. If you change the laser color you have, indirectly, change what technology makes up the weapons systems on the Imperial Walker which has been outlined in countless Star Wars tech manuals prior (I think).

Oh, I didn't know there were different versions. I don't have a problem with the current versions, but I do understand where doubleofive is coming from. I would like to, at least, hear an early cut of the changes (if adywan decide to make any) so that we can chime in with our 2 cents before they go into the final cut.

I have noticed that about Chewie as well. Obviously, a new costume was made for ROTS, but as far as the OT goes there is definitely something different each time. I just can't quite put my finger on it. I think it has something to do with the hair being more untamed.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to suspect that 3PO had some hardware upgrades in between the films. Take into account how old he really is and how many times the poor fellow has been blown to pieces. Also, I think that the profile on Vader at Wookiepedia references him making upgrades to his saber hilt over time.

From the Wookiepedia profile on Anakin Skywalker:

"After suffering his grievous wounds on Mustafar, Vader created a new lightsaber. Vader apparently modified this lightsaber over time."

I just finished watching the new color correction footage. It's amazing how just adjusting the tint can affect the aura of an environment. Good work adywan. Was the work in this particular clip achieved by just adding a filter over the entire clip or did you have to make sure everything was balanced from shot to shot?

Side Note: I noticed, in the scene "We've Spotted Imperial Walkers," that R2's light still doesn't really switch from one color to the next appropriately. Really, he still has that sort of "spinning" light source that he had in ANH. It is just brighter and is turns faster her in ESB instead of making a seamless transition like in the PT. However, it's extremely minor ,and I was actually making a point to look at his light at the time. Anyone who's not looking for it will probably not notice. I'm sure you'll decide the best way to handle that.

A general rule of thumb in the visual effects industry - which is, sadly, becoming more and more ignored these days - is that their work is, first and foremost, supposed to enhance the story, not overshadow it. Changing the walkers' laser bolts to green would be a careless disregard of this philosophy, not to mentions a minor - yet huge at the same time - disregard of established cannon. The point is that just because something can be done, does not mean it should (i.e. PT)

I know this is probably a dead horse by now, but Vader's "wobbly" helmet has always bugged the crap out of me too. So, I still have my fingers crossed, hoping it will be fixed. I think that this quote provides an adequate justification for my feelings as well:
