EDIT: Oh wow!  I can't believe I never noticed the awesome use of foreshadowing in that scene that TMBTM posted; where Anakin gets the droid parts bolted overtop his arm.  Lol!

That was extremely well paced and edited.  Great work!

Something about that scene that I never liked, even when it was in theaters, is that they use the POV angle from the giant smelting vats before Padme is actually about to be scalded.  It just seems like poor editing to me because it makes us think that she is about to die before we are supposed to think it.

Man, I keep debating with myself over whether or not I like flying R2.  Is it so unreasonable to suspect that, between the PT and OT, the jet system was "removed for the adventurous little droid's own good", or that he used it to navigate the bottom of the swamp on Dagobah?

I really like your suggestion too Bingowings.

EDIT: I made a post earlier about how the Kenobi/Grievous rivalry could have been fleshed out more.  It just occurred to me that rivalry could have been a more fleshed out element of the PT in general.  I mean,  we've got the Kenobi/Grievous rivalry, the Padme/Nute Gunray rivalry, and the Anakin/Dooku rivalry.  Granted, as is, they are not very deeply explored, but if they had been it would have added a lot more depth of character to both our heroes and villains.  The Anakin/Dooku rivalry would have been especially fitting considering Anakin, ironically, ends up replacing Dooku as Palpatine's apprentice.

Info: FanEdit.org is GONE!!!!
Time

The time may have come for people like us to stop trying to the best of our ability to interpret the law and appease the "powers that be."  Perhaps we should do something along the lines of form a committee, or two, or more (Since legal issues are different across the pond and in other parts of the world) to compile a list of arguments for our cause, and then get professional legal advice on the matter.

EDIT: We could even form a full fledged organization. Something along the lines of "International Association for the Lawful Advancement of Fan-Edits" only with a catchier acronym.

I would never use a "fan" in a suit.  I'd use either a real actor, or maybe a student actor, who would make an effort to pickup on Anthony Daniels' 3PO mannerisms.

Furthermore, if the green-screen technique were implemented, the "R2 Flying" issue could be solved by using a combination of R2 against green-screen and existing footage.  Though, I supposed this could also be accomplished with a CG R2.  That is, if someone puts in the effort to make one.  I'll bet someone already has.

I'd never opt for a CG 3PO though.  I think we can all agree that CG 3PO in AotC seemed very "lifeless."

Hell, it could be pulled off very convincingly if you outsourced it to someone with green-screen experience and got an actor in a decent looking 3PO costume.  Plus, since the actor in the suit would be able to make gestures appropriate to the lines, you would have a level of control over the direction of the character and his function in the story that you would not have if you were just redubbing existing 3PO footage with sampled Anthony Daniels dialogue.  Adywan has already proven his proficiency with changing backgrounds completely, so this could be very feasible.

Wow, you just reminded me of how underused Dooku was in the PT.  While I doubt it's possible to do in a seamless way, I'd love to see more depth added to Dooku's character.  Maybe we could dub in a sound bite from, say, a book on tape, animated special, or video game in which Christopher Lee or a sound alike as Dooku talks about how incensed he was at the Jedi Order after the death of Qui-Gon.  If it's a sound alike, the voice could be tampered with t make it sound a bit more like Christopher Lee.

"There were aliens IN the race who are part of the Republic.  What money did they use when they got to the planet?"

That doesn't mean that those particular aliens were Republic citizens.

I always just thought that Obi-Wan was lying to Luke.  I'm sure in his mind this explanation sounded a lot better than "Your father was a whiny self absorbed bitch who was easily manipulated by a pasty old man with a fetish for cyborgs."

Lol!  But seriously, he did have to tell him something other than "Your father is Darth Vader."

I don't think I read it on this thread LordVader because I remember it being before I had made an account at OriginalTrilogy.com

Also, I was only using the "Saber Duel" argument as an example of many similar arguments that I've heard over time.  In fact, I just had a discussion with someone in PT: Revisited thread about omitting color designations from Clone Troopers to make them look more like Stormtroopers.  Needles to say I was against it for the same reasons I highlighted in my  "Artistic License" argument.

I bet if they had been made in that order the fact that Luke and Leia are Darth Vader's children would have been downplayed considerably in RotS so it could have more of an impact in ESB.  Or, maybe they would have given Darth Vader more screen time in the OT so as to keep "Anakin" front and center throughout the entire saga.  Oh how it is fun to speculate.

It's funny.  I just made a post in the ESB:R forum that pretty much sums up my feelings towards this proposal:

I bring this up because some people need to seriously consider exactly what it is they're talking about when they make arguments like this "Saber Duel" one.  We cannot think about forms of art - especially film - in a purely logical manner.  As layman as it may sound, the fact is that, if we did, movies would be extremely boring and unoriginal.  You must have a harmony between your artistic and logical vision.  Yes, the battles in the PT could have be done similarly to those in the OT, but that would not have been artistically reflective of the world GL was trying to create for the PT; that is a world where the Jedi order is thriving and at it's highest.  The elegance of the PT duels reflects this, just as the passive battles of the OT reflect a dark oppresive world where Luke received his training from an elderly Kenobi and Yoda, and Vader has asthma."

I wouldn't want to change the Clone Troopers to all white because that use of color is reflective of the all inclusive, diverse Republic as opposed to the monotony of the tyrannically fascist Empire.
