"New" notification
Time
Is there some way to see when reading a forum what messages are new, as there was in the older forum? It seems like it's kinda guesswork right now, unless I overlooked something.

EDIT: Looking a bit more, I see that the topics I've read are no longer bold. So that indicates the topics, but is there something in the thread indicating what actual posts are new? Also, is there a "Mark Forum as Read" button that I'm missing?

PAL -> NTSC audio conversion (probably easier than it sounds)
Time
Okay, here's the deal. On most European releases of the John Carpenter flick They Live, there is a commentary track featuring Carpenter and Roddy Piper. Not so on any American release. I was able to find an MP3 of the commentary audio track, but it is of course in PAL.

I can easily enough throw the audio file into Audition, slow it down by the appropriate amount and make a backup of the American DVD that I own with this as a secondary audio track, but I do not know the conversion factor precisely. Would I just slow it down by 4%? Would that mean that the converted audio track should be 96% as fast as the PAL?

EDIT: I seem to have gotten this taken care of. Sooooo, nevermind

Busting Macrovision
Time
Can anyone recommend a video stabilizer/enhancer box thingie that will knock out Macrovision protection? I work at this great mom'n'pop video store that didn't liquidate their amazing VHS selection when the big VHS-to-DVD switch came, and there's a ton of excellent sci-fi, horror and kids flicks that aren't available on DVD anywhere in the world that I want to make copies of. Trouble is, a bunch of them have got Macrovision on them. I've got a set-top DVD recorder that I'm really happy with (that I bought for crazy cheap, too) and I'd like to get some more mileage out of it.

EDIT: Or, better yet, if anyone has one they're looking to get rid of, I'll gladly take it off your hands

Alien Appendix #3: The Alien Archive (Released)
Time
I've just got a general question about supplemental Alien-franchise material and this seemed like the best place to ask it.

In the original version of the documentary on the bonus disc for Alien3 included in the Quadrilogy box, there was about a half hour's worth of footage that illustrated David Fincher's frustration with the project using video footage shot during production. This was all removed prior to the official release. Is any of that stuff circulating?

Army of Darkness - The Primitive Screwhead Edition (Released)
Time
I understand where you're coming from C3PX, I didn't want to be responsible for releasing anything without permission. Internet message boards are not the best places for being able to accurately read into a person's intentions. It just seemed from what I heard that it was a finalized version worthy of distribution.

Anyway, it's out of all of our hands now. Look it up on The Pirate Bay.

Garrett isn't selling anything either. He was given a copy of the edit that was indicated to him as the final version. Here's the first email he sent me about it:

How weird - everyone on Originaltrilogy is posting about the extended Army of Darkness waiting for it. The guy who made it, Scott, has made no announcement. He sent this edit to me AGES ago. Maybe you should let them know it actually exists! Maybe I'll put it up as a torrent.

Quit trying to sleight a dude for trying to help you.
